How common is it for 7-9yr olds to get injured while playing football?
I just signed my 7yr old up football and I am a little worried about him getting hurt. I am wondering how likely it is that the coaches will be playing kids this age pretty hard? This is not flag football btw.
1 AnswerOther - Football7 years agoThoughts on Tony Romo possible pain meds addiction (other NFL players as well)?
I'm not one to judge at all, in fact I have a personal history with addiction in my family (particularly pain meds and opiate addiction).
I just saw a little segment on NFL Network with Tony Romo saying if he ever wins a super bowl it will be with the Cowboys. It just really caught my attention that not only was his voice a little raspy (that in itself, no big deal) and his pupils were tiny. Now this could be for a number of reasons but it got me thinking:
Although I'm not a Cowboy fan and I'm really not sure at all about his history with injuries, I wonder if he is personally struggling with pain meds/opiate addiction which also led me to think:
I wonder how common it is for NFL players to struggle with this kind of thing. I mean just think about the amount of physical (not to mention mental as well) trauma these guys take on a regular basis. I'm also not very familiar with the NFL policy and drug tests when it comes to opiate pain meds.
I am curious what other's thoughts are..
3 AnswersFootball (American)7 years agoYour overall thoughts on the Packer's draft?
My thoughts:
Rd1: (S) Ha Ha Clinton-Dix *A+
Our greatest need (by far, imo) was safety and although I personally really liked Pryor, I was ecstatic when Clinton-Dix fell to us for our round 1 pick.
Rd2: (WR) Davante Adams *B+
There were other players on the board I wanted badly and a diff WR I was more interested in. However after looking more into this guy after we picked him, I am feeling very confident that he can be GREAT.
Rd3: (DT)Khyri Thronton, (TE)Richard Rogers *C-
I thought both of these picks were reaches, easily could have gotten them later. Weakest round for us, imo, but we'll see.
Rd4: (OLB) Carl Bradford *A
Extremely happy with this pick. He is underrated, can play ILB, OLB or DE. Got him in a great spot, could easily have gone earlier. BPA (imo) and fills need, awesome pick.
Rd5: (C) Corey Linsley *C
No idea what to make of this one. I admit I don't know much about him so I'll just have to wait and see what he has to offer.
Rd5: (WR) Jared Abbrederis *A+
I LOVE this pick. I think he can possibly turn out to be the steal of this draft. Versatile, good route runner and has great potential to make an impact on special teams meaning we (hopefully) won't have to use Cobb there. Being a hometown boy is just a plus.
Rd6: (CB) Demetri Goodson *C+
Don't know much about him, heard he has good potential though.
Rd7: (WR) Jeff Janis *B
Didn't need another WR but been hearing good things about him.
Overall, good draft imo
6 AnswersFootball (American)7 years agoWhich team in each conference do you give best draft grade to?
I know it's too early to tell which draft picks will turn out to be stars/busts but for now, which team out of all the conferences do you think did the best in the draft and what grade do you give them?
1 AnswerFootball (American)7 years agoCan the Packers get Austin Sefarian-Jenkins in round 2?
Perhaps if they trade up? If they trade up to get him what would it cost us? I'm stoked about Clinton Dix but the guy I want the most in round 2 is Sefarian-Jenkins! We would HAVE to trade up, no way will he fall to pick 54 but who would we have to trade with and what would it cost? Would it be worth it?
What are your opinions...

3 AnswersFootball (American)7 years agoWho was the biggest steal in the 1st round of the draft?
I personally think Brandin Cooks to the Saints

Is it safety? Or linebacker?

Who are your top 5 defensive draft prospects that are the best at stopping the run?
2 AnswersFootball (American)7 years agoOk what are your honest thoughts on Teddy Bridgewater?
I ask because I just saw a little segment on the guy where he bought a pink Cadillac Escalade for his mom who fought breast cancer. It was a very nice story and I will be rooting for him to succeed (even if only for him to be able to pay off that nice gift he got for his mom!).
My team doesn't need a QB (Green Bay Packers) so I haven't really been looking too much into QB's for this draft but from what I saw, he seems like a great guy with a good head on his shoulders (put school work before football) and I would love to see him do well.
I do know that there are a lot of different opinions and debates about whether or not Bridgewater, Maniel or Bortles have it in them to succeed in the NFL but I am curious about what you guys think about Mr. Bridgewater. Does he have a knack for getting into trouble? Does he have real talent? I saw he was projected to be a first round pick, do you think that is likely?
10 AnswersFootball (American)7 years agoUltimate draft picks for Green Bay Packers? (will choose Best Answer)?
Feel free to trade up or down as it is extremely likely TT will do this at least once during the draft.
One of our positions of need is safety but I am torn between wanting:
-Ha-Ha Clinton Dix (who will be long gone by #21 along with ILB CJ Mosely who I'd also love to have) and Calvin Pryor
-We need a TE as well and as much as I would LOVE Eric Ebron in green and gold, he will very likely be taken between picks 1-10 so maybe Austin Sefarian-Jenkins? If we get REALLY lucky, maybe we can grab him in round 2? (a possible trade up here?)
-I also like Jimmie Ward (SS) and Ryan Shazier (OLB) who seem to be more of a realistic pick being more likely to be available around 21..
What would be the ULTIMATE 1st and 2nd round draft pick for the Green Bay Packers?
3 AnswersFootball (American)7 years agoWhich NFL draft players do you think are better: (10 PTS)?
1. Calvin Pryor, Jimmie Ward or Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix? (Safety)
2. Eric Ebron or Austin Sefarian-Jenkins? (TE)
3. Johnny Manziel or Teddy Bridgewater? (QB)
4. Sammy Watkins or Mike Evans? (WR)
5. Khalil Mack, Anthony Barr or Ryan Shazier? (OLB)
6. Ra'Shede Hageman or Louis Nix III? (DT)
*If you think someone else is better in these categories that weren't mentioned, feel free to choose him instead.
4 AnswersFootball (American)7 years agoHow to set a good example for my 7yr old in this situation?
My son, fiance and I live on the top floor of an apt building and the only other tenants on this floor is another young couple with 2 small children, 6 and 3yr old boys. I leave gift bags outside their door for their kids for every holiday, even Valentine's Day. I can see they are struggling financially so I buy them clothes and brand new nice sneakers, but take the tags off, put them in bags and tell them they are things that don't fit my son any longer (so they don't feel bad). 2 weeks ago, the father (who happens to be a lot bigger than my fiance,) stole $200 from us. They know, that we know it was them because they started parking their car way down the street in front of a car dealership that has cameras, assuming we will retaliate and mess with their car. We see them every day at the bus stop, their son sits with our son on the bus, and now they just stare at us and smirk and don't say a word.
It's not about the money, we are doing fine financially, but if they needed the money all they had to do was ASK to borrow it and I would have had more respect if they just didn't pay us back. There was no need to come into our home, go into my fiance's wallet and take his cash. We did leave the door unlocked, and left the wallet right on the kitchen table, so maybe we were asking for it..
But now there is this tension and my child can clearly see it..what do I tell my son?
