3 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoSlow laptop annoyance.?
Generally, I am pretty good at solving computer problems. But as this is my first laptop, rather than desktop computer, I have questions. My personal opinion to my question would be that my processor/processor's are going.
6 months ago I buy my first laptop computer. Toshiba.
Anyways, I will start from the very beggining, the day I bought my laptop.... The first day I bought my laptop there was a blue screen after a Windows Update. I assume this is normal considering, well, it's Windows... lol.
So I restart my PC ignoring this error, which is not of any concern now. 5 months later and is been running smooth, but I notice this white powder seeping through the front seems of my laptop at the front left. I posted on a forum and got the answer, "Oh, don't worry about it, it is probably just a little dust that built up over time and blowing a can of compressed air will solve the problem!"
So I do as suggested and blow the air in the holes. Next day... more white powder seeps through front seem of left front side of laptop. I just wipe it away with tissue... This "dust" problem continues for a few months. I ignore it as I get use to it and does not cause any major preformance issues / inconvenience.
Now it is 6 months after the day I purchased my laptop and I get infected by a Malicious software, Windows Police Pro..... I removed it successfully, but I ended up reformatting anyways afterwards for peace of mind that it will erase the virus. Which it did, and there are no issues of malware on my Laptop right now. I scanned with every program know, both trial and free, all came up clean.
I notice my laptop boots slower than the day I purchased it, I say to myself hmmmm, maybe its accumulated dust inside and its causing the processor to overheat.... I buy a cooling fan to place beneath my laptop, this doesn't help much.
The day I purchased my laptop It came with 3 GB of Ram, one 2 GB stick and 1, 1 GB stick. I didn't think this was enough for my 2 GHZ dual core processors, so I purchased a cheap additional 2 GB stick to replace my noob 1 GB stick. And it worked fine for 6 months.
NOW!!!! My main question / problem / etc.......... My computer stalls sometimes when browsing internet, searching windows folders for apps / games to run / etc..... These stalls, usually last around 60 seconds. it gets pretty annoying sometimes. I usually have 10 Tabs open in firefox, but I assume 4 GHZ of ram is enough to handle these webpages. My ram usually doesn't go over 300,000 KB.
Comtinuuing.....
I download a program to monitor my Tempuratures (This is indeeed the same day I suggested my laptop was overheating), The temp shows 40 Degrees C for hard drive, and 60 Degrees C for processors on balanced power preformance level.... The cooling pad actually helped lower this number by 1-3 degrees! not much tho.... and I read AMD turion 64 X2 Duo core processors can take up to 150 degrees C. Which is pretty good temperatures to withstand. My laptop has never ever gone past 70 Degrees C, which was when I was playing World of warcrafft ....
Sooooooo anyways, Sorry for the long story, but what are you're suggestions of what could be happening? I don't know if it's hardware / ???? IDK???? But I really am hoping to get it back to good condition..
KEYWORDS:
Laptop Stalls, Laptop slow....Laptop not as fast as it use to be. Ram Incompatible?? Hard drive Failing!????? Or CPU's dieing??? or Transistors exploaded.
I don't have many programs on startup list at all.... but Windows takes good 2 minutes to start from the second I press the power button with my finger. ... 30 seconds alone on the PLEASE WAIT screen for Windows Vista Login.
Other than the Stalls, it runs great! including high CPU games like WOW. Once the program is launched it runs pretty good without much lag. But double click Firefox and waiting 10 seconds for it to pop up is sooooooo annoying as a symptom...
I have ran Defrags of system drives/ Boot sector / etc.
I ran check disk which said my harddrives were normal...
I ran memory test which said my Memory was normal...
I have an external harddrive where I store all my data. But It has no problems i think.
Ask me any questions you may have in aiding me with support.
I already ran many many antivirus / spyware / malware / rootkit / etc Scanners and I am clean. Thanks!!!
STAY TUNED AS I REFRESH THIS PAGE EVERY 5 MINUTES!
I will edit my question with replies as I recieve answer questions..... 0_0...
