  • Why do Fundies Give God Credit for choices PEOPLE make?

Was wondering why Fundies Give God Credit for choices people make in their own free will?? Well I guess more specifically, WHY they give God credit for the ''good''things people do, but then they give credit to people for the ''bad''things they do.. :( :( :( :(

  • Writing Letter to a Judge?

Short Backstory: In January I was divorced. In March my ex wife filed a Order of Protection against me. She is a nanny for a family, which I was pretty close with for a few years, and in February was the child's birthday. I mailed the child a birthday card and gift. She said I was harassing her at work.

The judge actually agreed to it...

The question is. I wanted to write the judge a letter, describing my feelings about the hearing and the unfairness etc along with it.(I got a 1 year Order of Protection the case before me the husband pulled a knife on his wife, beat her in the bathroom, and she got out of the house and he beat her on the lawn and that man received 6 months. )....I don't care about not being able to talk/see my ex but I just wanted to write the judge because of the unfairness and unjustice of what happened..

Is there any law or anything writing the judge my feelings? (clearly not written in a mean way)

  • 9-11 Sacrfrices Memories and Jesus?

Was wondering what other people either learned from 9-11 or any special meaning to them or special stories about 9-11???

Mine is...One of the things I learned from 9-11 was all the Ultimate Sacrifices that were given by the people in the buildings and mostly the First Responders(Firemen, Police, etc) that gave up their lives to save others. It showed me how their ultimate sacrifice is the ULTIMATE ''ultimate sacrifice". As I'm a believer in Jesus, their Ultimate Sacrifice was more ultimate and meaningful then his.

Jesus knew exactly when and how he would die, he had time to prepare for it. The first responders did not have time to prepare for it. Jesus was able to say good bye to his friends and family and have one last supper with them. The first responders were not able to do that. Jesus knew when his pain and suffering was going to end. The first responders did not. Their ultimate sacrifice was the ultimate ''ultimate sacrifice". What I learned was very very simple and very logical

  • Giving God Credit and Growing up?

I was wondering when fundementalist Christians will grow up and become more loving and stop giving God credit for things people do??

I've heard way to much fundementalists give God credit for CHOICES people make, like people giving money to charities or helping with fundraisers or doing things for less fortuante, or I hear them giving God credit for their parents CHOOSING to being good parents or their significant other's choosing to be good significant others...

It's quite sad hearing fundies give credit to God for things people do. Makes no sense at all. It's like giving people credit for the mountains or the sunsets or beautiful weather, when it wasn't people's doing, that was God's. So when are fundies going to grow up and become more loving and give credit due where credit due. Like to the people actually doing things and making choices to do it??

  • Giving up Everything for God?

I have a question for the fundementalists/etc. It is said from a few that you would give up everything for God....If this is true, then it would be like giving up TV, books, all family, all friends, job, hobbies, money, etc, which would be the same as living by yourself on a deserted island...

If you truly would give up everything for God, that means you would basically live on a deserted island all by yourself???

Another question..... Would you rather live on that deserted all by yourself with God OR live on the deserted island with another person?

    Two questions in one!

  • What do you think of this abstinence movie clip?

This is a clip from a movie called 17 Again. In the movie, a middle age man is made 17 again by a ''spiritual'' guide to learn a lesson.....This is a clip that talks about abstinence.... What are your opinions about what he states? And the part of the speech, where he smartly talks about a baby girl and not loving anything more in the world....

  • What if I let something bad happen?

What if I saw someone being beat up in alley and didn't call the cops or try to help? What if I saw someone being raped and didn't do anything? What if I was able to help someone feel better because of sickness and didn't do anything? What if I saw a woman being harassed on the street or bar or store and didn't do something? What if my child was being hurt and I let them? What if I had the power to control the weather(maybe by some super satellitte like in some movies) and used it to destroy and kill people? Countless other scenarios like that......What if I/person did those? We would be consider evil and unloving and wrong and things like that, even if I had a ''good reason'' to do so..But if and when God does it's ok?? Oh geez.

  • Thank You to the 1 that Created Me!?

Happy Mother's Day to My Mom and to all the Mom's out there. Without MOTHERS(and Fathers), I and everyone in the wouldn't be here. It was because the choice that our mothers and father's made to create a life that brought us into this world. If my mom didn't make a choice to want a child, then NO way I would have been created. Thank you for all your hundreds of sacrfrices and unconditional love, and unconditional forgiveness, and always being there, and thank you for teaching me about love, kindness, compassion, gratitude, selflessness, just name a few and always being there and not expecting/wanting anything in return for all that you have done. Thank you to my mom and all the mom's out there.

  • Happy M-Day!Real forgiveness and Love!?

Wanted to do a shout out to all Mothers out there, especially my Mother. Without you, I would be nothing. I owe it all to YOU. Without you, I wouldn't have been taught kindness and compassion and sacrifice, and how to give and how to help others, and how to show real unconditional love, and shown moralsand how to show manners, and how to show gratitude and how to be humble and how to be a man and admit when I have done wrong.

If I was born into a different family, then chances are I wouldn't have been taught all those things and the super simplistic moral guideline of treat others the way you want to be treated.

I want to thank my mom for REAL forgiveness. She always forgave me WITHOUT me having to ask her. I never had to say ''sorry for doing this mom'' for her to forgive and let me back home during my teens. Her giving me forgiveness without me even asking, made want to admit my faults even more.

Thank you mom for never telling me about how much better you are then me, and thank you for never telling me I couldn't ever measure up to be good enough in your eyes. Thank you mom that you knowing my guilt and remorse and sadness and that grew, from doing something bad, was ''punishment'' enough in your eyes. THank you for knowing that punishment was enough for my wrongdoings to you and in general. THank you that I didn't have to apoligize/be sorry, in a specific way.

Thank you to all the mothers out there like that, and all the loving people that do those things and not the opposite!

  • Real gratitude and real glory!!?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1V0NEIrXNw Can skip to nearly the 1:45 mark. It is the video of NBA MVP award going to Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls....

Great example of true gratitude and giving glory to whom it belongs. Rose is one of the unfortunately few in the sports that isn't out for the money, or fame, or vanity, or narcissism. He's totally humble and gracious and selfless.

In his Speech, he thanked God for given him abilities that he worked extremely extremely extremly hard to be his best and gave extreme amount of thanks to the orginazation, his teammates, his trainers, his friends, his family, his agent, his fans...all in very very in depth.

Then his speech about his mother says it all about real praise and real gratitude.

  • How can people be so insenstive and say GLorify God?

How can people be so insentive to say Glorify God??

I'm a believer in Jesus and a Christ follower, and not one of those who just preach and not practice. I just don't understand how some radical Christians can do things with the main reason to glorify aka make God look good/to please God. It is clearly a very non loving and insentive concept.

How can you buy a homeless guy food as the main reason to please God/make God look good?? That is so unloving and insentive. The main and only reason to buy the homeless guy food, since he's starving and needs to eat!!! I would feel ashamed of myself if I gave someone food, to make God look good or to make myself look good.

How can you give to charity, as the main reason is to please God/make God look God? Main and only reason to give to charity, is because they need it! Not tomake yourselves look good or God.

How can you buy your child a gift, or shelter them, or any thing in general to them, to make God or yourself look good in front of the eyes of others? Main and only reason is because they are you kids and you love them!!

This clearly goes with every and any scenario.

I would feel ashamed of myself if I used people to make God look good or to make myself look God, just like I would be ashamed if I used God to make myself look good or others......My question is, why can't these radical Christians show love and do the right thing, just because it's right?? Why can't you just give a homeless guy food, just so he doesn't starve???? Why do you have to use him to glorify God? And for the people on the total opposite, why would you give food to homeless person to glorify yourself?

PS. If a person doesn't know what is right and wrong based on "do unto others as you would want them to do unto you'' and " don't do unto others as you wouldn't want them to do unto you'' then I feel sorry for them.

  • Christians and Drinking?

As a fellow Christian, I am bit confused, as athiests I know and other religious people, about how some Christians think its ''wrong'' to drink?? Since there is lots of scripture where it specifically states Jesus drinking! Just don't understand since there is no real logical answer in any form, why it's ok for Jesus to drink, but yet some Christians think its wrong to drink. How come??

P.S. There is clearly a difference between seldom and responsible drinking then abusive, very occasionly drinking that is non responsible. Some(most) people are responsible drinking. Aka no drinking and driving, no cheating, no fighting, nothing else bad. While there is some others that drink and drive and do other sinful/wrong irresonsible things..
