In Microsoft Word, I have lost the Commands toolbar (file, view, edit, etc.) Those items are now in a box at?
the top of the screen which changes shape when I try to move it. How can I restore them to their proper place?
3 AnswersSoftware9 years agoHow to change the blade in a Challenge MTS 5795 table saw?
Is the 19mm nut left- or right- threaded? Seems it should be a left hand thread so as not to come undone when the saw is running, but I may have got this wrong. And what's the little thing that projects in the middle?
1 AnswerDo It Yourself (DIY)10 years agoProblem with columns and margins in Microsoft Word?
I don't know what version of Word I'm using, but it came with Windows XP. I'm writing a long document with mirrored margins and changes from 2 columns to 1 column on several pages. When I change the number of columns (with 'section break, continuous') the computer treats the one-column part as if I'd changed from an even page to odd (or vice versa) and puts the gutter on the wrong side. What can I do about this?
2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoHow much money (per minute) do firms get when they receive 0844/0845 telephone calls?
UK answers only, please. Many firms and organisations commodify their incoming calls by giving out these 'non-geographic' numbers (on which they make a profit) and trying to hide their ordinary geographic (01/02/03) numbers, which can usually be called more cheaply, or free on some call plans.
2 AnswersLand Phones1 decade agoWhat is the matter with BT Broadband?
For the past 3 days I've been unable to send emails, although everything else works (web pages, receiving emails). Today I had to listen to 70 minutes of ringing tone and 'thank you for your patience' messages before speaking to a guy (in India I think) who told me it was a widespread fault which the engineers are working on, but he couldn't tell me who to contact to find out how long it's likely to last. I urge everyone affected by this fault to claim a refund for the days when they haven't been able to make full use of their internet.
4 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoWhy do so many specifically American questions appear in Y!A UK/Ireland?
For example, today there's one from Ron in Nashville, Tennessee, asking if Hallowe'en is the right time to sow fescue. How would anyone this side of the pond know the answer to that one from first-hand experience?

1 AnswerYahoo Toolbar1 decade agoHow do I enter search terms in Google?
Suppose I'm looking for references to John Paul Jones. If I put 'John Paul Jones' or 'John+Paul+Jones', Google gives me all sorts of references to web pages containing the separate words (i.e. garbage) as well as the ones I'm looking for. Suggestions, please?
7 AnswersGoogle1 decade ago'Ten thousand miles away from home': where can I download the sheet music of this song?
Please don't tell me about audio downloads or anything of that kind. I want the printed music to play on the piano. There are several songs with similar titles, but I'm not interested in any of those. The one I want is an old one, dating from the 1950s or earlier.

I've got pop-ups disabled but this annoying little square keeps on appearing, and it doesn't have an X to close it.
13 AnswersLangues1 decade agoWhat language is this?
In François Mauriac's book 'Les anges noirs' one of the characters knocks at the door of a house late at night, and a servant calls out 'Qu'ès aco?' Can anyone tell me what language this is?
14 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoIs there a domestic dishwasher available with both hot and cold water feeds?
We have constant hot water from a Rayburn, so it doesn't make sense to use a dishwasher that heats its water from cold. The hot water is sometimes nearly boiling, but most manufacturers specify 65º max. Is there a machine that can take really hot water for washing, and has a cold water feed for prewashing and rinsing?
4 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoLatin: how would you translate HOC FORTIOR, a motto under a coat of arms?
It can't mean "this is stronger" because the two words wouldn't agree in gender. The best I can do is "(I am) stronger than this" (ablative of comparison) but that leaves an unanswered question, stronger than whom or what?
The coat of arms depicts four D-shaped objects, each consisting of a short stick-like thing with its ends connected by a loop of chain. They don't represent the letter D because the straight part is horizontal with the loop of chain above. Any ideas as to what these might be? Some instrument of torture? Primitive handcuffs?
5 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoYan, tan, tethera, methera ...can anyone tell me the rest of these numbers?
And anything about their history? When first recorded, and any theories about their origin?
4 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoWhy are so many 'best answers' awarded by 'the community'?
Is it because the asker has clicked 'no best answer', or because the asker has failed to revisit the question and choose a best answer?
When one has taken a lot of time and trouble to answer a question it's very disappointing to find that the person who asked it hasn't shown any sign of having bothered to read the answers.
17 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoWhy are we expected to call Bombay Mumbai?
We aren’t expected to call the Greeks’ capital Αθηναι, the Russians’ Москва, the Danes’ København, the Portuguese’ Lisboa ... when a city in a foreign country has a well-established British name (such as Milan, Turin, Leghorn, Naples, Copenhagen, Munich, Seville, The Hague, Brussels and many others) the locals don’t seem to mind us using the British names for their cities, so why do we have to go all politically correct when talking about Bombay, Calcutta and other cities in Asia? The same goes for countries; wouldn’t it make more sense to call Iran Persia than a name which differs from Iraq by only one letter? And what right has the unelected junta in Burma to insist that we call their country Myanmar?
8 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoCan anyone translate this very technical piece of Spanish?

5 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhere can I buy fruit juice concentrate?
Most of the boxed fruit juice sold in supermarkets is made from concentrate; in other words it's concentrate with added water. Why don't the supermarkets sell the concentrate itself, saving their transport costs and saving us shoppers having to carry a lot of packeted water? Back in World War 2 families with children could buy bottles of concentrated orange juice from the Food Office; if it was possible then, why not now? Food Office orange juice was cheap, but when one does come across concentrated juice in a health food shop it's unreasonably expensive.
16 AnswersNon-Alcoholic Drinks1 decade agoWhy inflation?
When I consider that within living memory petrol was sold for half a crown a GALLON (which is about 36 litres for a pound!!) and that the differences between present-day and 1950s prices of many other commodities are equally striking, and that the cause of this dramatic reduction in the value of money is mainly due to inflation, should it not be a PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY OF GOVERNMENT to maintain the value of the currency, i.e. to take whatever steps are needed to ensure that inflation doesn't happen, so that people's savings retain their value year on year?
