I am a teacher in a behavior analyst's body. I do behavior analysis all day long. All day. I used to be a teacher and that is why I sometimes answer homework questions, because I miss kids. I know a lot about special education because I have worked with every disability.

  • Does anyone know of a good doctor in Lee County, Florida?

I have been sick forever and my current doctor just tries to guess at the issue rather than do a good diagnostic profile. He just keeps getting blood tests, which all come back just fine.

    I am desperate!

  • Did you know that alcohol will harm your fetus irrevocably?

Alcohol or drugs within the first eight weeks of fetal development will forever harm their brain. It will damage the areas of the brain that are responsible for attention and emotions. The child will end up having serious behavior and emotional problems and possibly ADHD. One drink a day is all it takes, sometimes less.

  • Do you realize that by drinking you are putting you fetus at risk?

For those of you who are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant, do you know that as little as one drink a day will cause serious defects in your child's nervous system and that you will be condemning that child to a lifetime of learning and behavior problems? Research show this, particularly in the first eight weeks of life.

  • Why do Christians get so crazy about gays?

About three lines down from the quote about men lying with men in Matthew, it also says you should kill your sons if they curse you. Why focus on one and not the other????

  • I get colds or overly exhausted when I exercise more than usual. ?

Every time I exercise in a little more strenuous way, I get a cold the next day. For instance, yesterday I went kayaking for about three hours and today I have a sore throat and nasal congestion. I am in fairly good shape, so I don't know why this has been happening lately. Any ideas?

  • What is your favorite adventure book?

I am getting tired of mysteries. I'd like to read some adventure books that have subjects like rescues, expeditions and wild chases.

  • Why don't fruit and veggies satisfy my hunger?

I am on a diet and today I had a chicken breast, a small bag of carrots, two bananas and an orange. I was OK for awhile, but when I got hungry in the afternoon, the fruit and carrots were ineffective in stopping my hunger. I don't get it. They always tell you to have fruit snacks, but they don't seem to work.

  • How long does it a steroid nerve block to start working?

I had one this morning and I don't feel any difference, in fact it might be a bit more painful. I have a herniated L3 disc and we are trying to get some pain relief for me. I have pain in my thigh, groin and back. If it does start working, how long does it last? I am having another one next week.

If it hasn't worked by now, 14 hours, will it ever work?

  • I need to get something to attach to my dock to lift my kayak out of the water. I'm stumped!?

I have a bad back and having to pull it on to my dock from a distance of around 4-5' is killing me. I have been looking at a block and tackle and mooring whips and I just can't seem to figure it out. Any ideas? I pull the kayak up by the nose.

    Thank you

  • Does this seem right? I went to a new psychiatrist and he took me off all my old meds and put me on new ones.?

I was on Lexapro, Provigil, Trazadone and Neurontin. He decided to put me on Prexia and Clorazapam. He told me to stop taking my other drugs except to taper the Neurontin. He seemed very off hand about the whole thing. I was on these other drugs for years.

Now I am suffering severe anxiety and depression, I cannot get either warm or cold, I feel uncomfortable inside my skin, I want to sleep all the time and I have a terrible stomach ache. Can these be withdrawal symptoms and what should I do. My doctor did not call me back yesterday.

It just doesn't seem like really responsible behavior on his part.

  • Can someone recommend a fast growing hedge shrub for Southwest Florida?

I want the plant to have some resistance to nematodes. Also, I don't want ficus Benjamina because it has serious root problems.

  • Has anyone had trouble with Isle of Dogs Canine Maintenance Company?

My cousin purchased a distributorship with them and because she couldn't lift the table they wanted her to use, fired her and told her she could not sell the product at dog shows. She was told to send the product back, at the cost or $2500.00, which she doesn't have. They have charged over $11,000 to her credit card. Also the inventory does not match the charges. Anyone know anything about them? Are they a scam?

  • What are the thinnest wheels my Specialized Expedition can take?

I love my bike, but it currently has mountain bike tires 26" X 1.95. I am going to be riding in a bike race and I want to go to thinner tires and wheel for the ride. I'm not trying to win, I just don't want to be last!

  • My best friend's boyfriend is very cold to me, what's going on?

We are all in our late 50's. I bicycle with my friend twice a week for two or three hours. She is a free spirit with an outrageous sense of humor and a sense of the ridiculous. She is warm, caring and reliable. We have so much fun!

Yesterday I met this guy who she has been seeing for 9 months and is madly in love with him. We went over and he did not really greet me or stop what he was doing (cleaning his spa.) He made no effort to interact with me and my friend didn't really seem to notice. We went down to the dock to look at the fish swimming around. He did not join us.

When he did talk to me, it was rather brief and terse. I tried to draw him out by talking about his dog, but it didn't work. Also he seemed cold to my friend.

On the way back to my friend's place, I asked if he was shy and she told me "No." She acted like she didn't think anything was wrong. Maybe I'm overreacting, but this is my best friend's beloved and he doesn't like me. I don't really think it is jealousy.

  • Is it normal to lose your passion for things you once loved as you get older? I'm 60.?

I am taking a combination of drugs for rapid cycling bi-polar. I started taking Lexapro not long ago. I'm not sure if this is causing the problem. I know it helps with my depression, but I am not sure if it is a good thing for me. I also take Neurontin, Provigil and Trazodone.

Or maybe this is just old age stuff. I've never been sixty before.

  • Has anyone out there had serious problems with an Autism Speaks advocate?

I went to an IEP meeting and the advocate was horrible. Right off the bat she appeared angry and hostile. She accused many people at the table of doing things over which they had no control. It appeared that her basic tactic was intimidation. The parent called me after the meeting to apologize for the woman. She was a horror story and bragged about how long the meetings that she was in took. Apparently she was in one that extended over four days and 26 hours. If she really cared about kids, why would she want to keep teachers out of the classroom that long? I think she is in it for power and attention.

  • Can TBI kids with frontal lobe damage learn to care about other people?

I am working with a 5th grade TBI child. He is totally self-centered and does not have any social consciousness. He lies without remorse and does not have any interest in doing things because they are the right things to do. The only way we can keep hin in line at all is with a star chart that grants rewards he can earn throughout the day. His mother says that this is all because of the TBI and that he will never change. I have concerns that if we do not teach him social behaviors and do not try to do any values education, that he will have a very limited life. He is only my third TBI case and I need some help from people who have more expertise in this area. Do you have any suggestios for me?

If you do agree, then how did this happen when they finished so high in the standings last year.
