Due to very helpful people here at answers I've made the decision to neuter my 7 yr old dachshund Thomas Earl and my 1 1/2 yr old Chihuahua Cinderella. I'm afraid of their personalities changing and all of a sudden them not getting along anymore after the neutering, because right now they get along so perfect with each other, I don't want to change their relationship. I had another male dog before I got the chihuahua and had to rehome him after I neutered him because he became EVIL and kept attacking my dachshund that he absolutely LOVED prior to the surgery.

I'm also wondering if it'll be better if I neuter them both at the same time so one won't be pestering the other as they are trying to heal. maybe it would be better if they're both sore and medicated together, you k now what I mean?

I'm making a critical decision soon, picking out a new car. I think Beetle's are adorable, but know nothing about them, know no one who drives them. Are they difficult and expensive to service due to their odd structure? What's it like owning a Beetle ? Tell me anything you know I'd really appreciate it!

I adopted a 6 lb 1 1/2 year old beautiful sweet perfect female Chihuahua and I'm already in love with her. She isn't going anywhere, she's my baby, I've bonded very deeply with her, and so has my other baby, Thomas Earl, he loves her ( he's my dachshund who's 7 yrs I've raised from a 6 wk old puppy ). Thomas Earl will not be neutered, period. There is no risk for unwanted pregnancies with him because we live in an apartment and there's no way for him to escape and get a girl pregnant, my mother died last year, and she was all I had, now I have no family, only my dachshund whom she got for me. Me, Thomas Earl, and my mom were a family before she was basically murdered in the hospital and I want a puppy from him before he passes away so I can have a piece of him when he's gone. I spent months trying to find the perfect dog to fit into our home, and Cinderella is perfect in every way. I immediately took her in to the vet to be spayed, and he says she can't be spayed because she's too small, and Chihuahua's as a breed just are never spayed. I'm devastated because I'm not giving up my baby girl Cinderella or neutering Thomas Earl. We are all very sad right now because we are a family these are my babies and this girl loves me and I love her and Tommy loves her and I don't know what to do, or why I can't spay her. I'm really really hurt.

I'm 23, and when my mom passed away Thomas Earl got separation anxiety, because she was wheelchair bound most of my life, and stayed home with Thomas all day every day. My boyfriend loves her I love her my friends love her I am hurt that it's physically impossible for her to be spayed. I'm just, in shock. I'm hurt.

I needed a perfect companion for my current dachshund who's the love of my life, and have now adopted the most BEAUTIFUL little girl Chihuahua and broken my rules because I've always been anti chihuahua but she ran off with my heart and I'm just as much in love with her as my other dog! they're different from each other in all the right ways, like they compliment each other and are a good pair. it's amazing how well they co habitate! why is this?

ANYWAYZ what were chihuahua originally bred for? Ratters? Hunters? are they really originated from mexico?

My friend who works on cars, ( unliscenced mechanic basically ) told me that I have to add STP gas treatment to my tank with every single fill up, and it's getting so annoying to have to go and get the gas treatment before I get gas every single time. My car is a 97 grand am. Why is he telling me this? he says the car will drive bad if I don't use it with every fill up. What's that about?

I recently adopted a sweet sweet 1 year old Chihuahua Princess Laya from a lady on Craigslist as a companion to my dachshund Thomas Earl. I'm a huge fan of dachshunds and was quite fearful of adopting a Chihuahua but she stole my heart. Is it normal for her to be so super glued to me almost like a second limb? is that a normal chihuahua trait? Taking some getting used to on my part. and also she embarrasses me barking at people outside she sees when we're out walking and she barks at my guests that come over and that's pretty much the only thing we really have to over come. My friends and boyfriend don't like her, she's not as open and aloof to meeting new people as Thomas Earl. He's kind of indifferent to people and it's no big deal to him and I'd like her to be that way as well. Any Tips?

I really want to know some of your opinions on this. there are so many people on ebay with very good merchandise for super cheap. Musical instruments for example people on there who sell multipal saxophones for like $295 Brand spanking new or Hi quality $200 flat irons for like 30 bucks. How do these people get all of this awesome new merchandise in bulk and sell it for so cheap?

I have a half sister on my father's side who I'd like to find. I hate my father because he raped me, but I would like to find my sister. how would I go about that? what's a good people search ? I believe she still lives here in the same city as me. where do i start?

I adopted a female chihuahua from a woman who told me she was spayed, then she started bleeding from her vulva and basically to make a long story short I think she may have been impregnated by my male intact dachshund. I do not want her to give birth because I really like her and don't want her to die. My pastor's dog died right after she gave birth, not only that I have no desire in adding to the unwanted pet population and would like to get the pregnancy terminated. Has anyone ever done this before? If I would have known her previous owner was lying to me I'd have had her spayed the same day I took her home. but her nipples seem pinker like hot pink and very firm and her rib cage is spreading. I don't wanna put my baby through motherhood so I'm considering the termination, plus my apartments have a rule against breeding dogs in your home so I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to terminate the pregnancy and get her spayed immediately. what do you think?

I adopted Ella from a lady a few days ago. the lady said she loved her and hated to see her go and everything, but she's emaciated! no fat on her little body, she's skin and bones. She said " Ella just doesn't like food much and doesn't really like to eat" which is kinda true. I took her to the vet and he said " just feed her and she'll fatten up" but she doesn't really like eating! she also is in season right now which I'm hoping has something to do with it.

Are chihuahua's normally this difficult to feed? and when she does eat she only eats when I'm standing directly next to her, if I walk off she stops eating. the vet treated me like I'm stupid like it's my fault she's emaciated and I should " just feed her" but I'm TRYING! she see's my other dog eat she could just copy him! she's about 1 and a half years old by the way.

what can I do to fatten her up so I can go ahead and get her spayed? I don't feel right getting her spayed when she's this emaciated. I want her to have meat on her bones first. What do you think? what should i try feeding her? maybe cat food for extra protein? puppy food? please help me I love her and my other dog Thomas Earl love her and I can't stand seeing her like this and the vet basically just told me to just feed her but what will she eat??!

(she only eats about 13 little nuggets of hard dog food and then stops and refuses to eat more, and that's all day after trying to get her to eat all day)

I adopted a little 1 year old Chihuahua, Cinderella, from a lady today as a companion to my Dachshund Thomas Earl, and she is PERFECT except one thing! I live in an upstairs apartment and she seems to be afraid of the stairs! She REFUSES to walk down them on her own and I have to pick her up and carry her to the grass, which means I must walk the dogs seperately because I can't carry TWO dogs at once, and Thomas Earl must be carried up and down the stairs because he is a dachshund and I don't allow that type of stress on his back as a preventative measure, so I REALLY need this little lady to WALK HERSELF up and down the stairs so I can carry him and walk them both at once! I know I haven't even had her for 24 hours yet but this is strange.

How do I get her to walk herself up and down the stairs so I can carry Thomas Earl?

I just adopted this little Diva, Cinderella from a lady today as a companion to my dachshund and I love her ! do you think she's a pure chihuahua like I was told or does she kinda look a little "puggish" especially with the curly tail and black nose. Is she pure or not? (either way I'm gonna love her the same just wondering)

Once my kitten is weened at 6 weeks I'll be bringing him home. I have been trying to find a proper companion for my 7 year old dachshund so he'll have a buddy while I'm at school. I adopted 2 dogs from the pound and they both had neurological problems from distemper from being neglected at the pound and I rehomed both dogs, but I think my dog will do better with a cat. I kitten trained him 3 years ago when I adopted a young kitten and he kind of raised it and they were best friends until a bus driver killed my cat on purpose and ran over him because she said he was slowing the kids from getting on the bus :(. I'm normally a dog person, but want to mix it up a bit with a kitten because A:) I have a mental 2 dog limit and I want my Next dog to be a large breed for when I move out of this apartment, and I don't want THREE dogs, I think 2 dogs and a cat is more balanced for the future but ANYWAYZ . . .

It's been a while since I've had a cat and I've only had one once in my life and I'm partial to dogs but am ready to open my heart to the perfect cat because my little Thomas Earl needs a friend and I was told by a lady at PetsMart that Dachshunds always get along well with cats so PLEASE tell me ANY advice you have to prepare me for this new Kitten of mine, how I can make him happy, tips on raising him with my dog AND Bird, good cat food, what to expect and just whatever!

I already have my kitty's name picked out! I named him/her Haiku because he/she looks like a little chinese man the first time i saw him and he's got siamese coloring. plus I can't tell if he's a boy or a girl cuz I don't know how with cats but that name can go either way lol

I adopted a Jack/Chi (Peter Pan) from the pound as a companion to my current adult Dachshund ( Thomas Earl ) who is 6 years old. I bought Thomas at 7 weeks from a breeder and raised him and he's really a great dog. I'm not sure how old Peter Pan is but he's driving my Tommy up the wall, he's attacking him and starting fights when I bring groceries home and just a lot for no reason.

Thomas is very mild mannered and obediant and doesn't start anything with Peter, he just wants to chill and cuddle and here comes hurricane Peter wanting to play and bite him and chew on him 24/7 and I've tried telling him to stop and leave Thomas alone and let him sleep and he will not ! I have no idea how old but he is really stressing me out! I don't think he's a suitable companion for Thomas, and am considering adopting him out to my neighbor who owns a Beagle/Dachshund who is just as bouncy and hyper as Peter, and just adopting a Rat Terrier puppy from my other neighbor ( once weened they were just born) or a Kitten from a lady from church ( kittens also just born). I'm not a fan of cats though at all but I can learn to love one if it would be more compatable with Thomas as a companion while I'm at school. He does better with another pet when the other pet is a baby and he can kind of raise it, ( he fathered my 6 week old orphan kitty Mr. McCatty and they were as close as brothers until the bus driver murdered my cat because she said he kept the kids from getting on the bus on time so she ran over him purposely to show the kids what would happen when they're late to the bus. broke my heart, he was awesome for a cat. ) but anyway I know mia( neighbor) would give him a wonderful home, I just think Thomas does better when the animal is a baby and grows up with him, they have a closer bond. what do you guys think? Rat or Cat? lol anyone own a rat terrier and wanna tell me a little about your experience owning one go for it. I adopted one out of the middle of the street that my mother forced me to rehome but he was really cool and Tommy's best friend.

And also Tommy jumps in my lap to get away from peter and peter chases him and then they start fighting each other and I get bitten really hard on accident and I can't take it anymore !

They normally hang out outside my door under the porch light and now they've been coming in sitting on my ceiling! My dachshund is a trained hunting dog and normally eliminates them on command, but he's too short to reach the ceiling! I normally just use the broom to shoo it to run toward Thomas so he can reach it. I would rather catch and release them but they're scary and hideous and fast and I have a phobia that if I tried that they'd end up crawling into my bra or something so I resort to allowing Thomas Earl ( my dachshund ) handle them. How do I just keep them from coming in in the first place? I'm so freaked out I can't sleep I don't want them in my bed !

I'm getting really tired of these people! I was in the parking lot with my boyfriend last night when this man walks up to us at 1:30 in the morning asking for change. Ok I'm just really tired of it, he ruined our moment, and pissed us off and I mean come on! It's becoming more frequent and it's retarded! I had a friends 12 year old daughter in my car while i was getting gas, and a man walked to the car while i was inside and asked her for money! I must admit, I made a scene and screamed at him cussed him out and chased him away with a metal stick of some sort, ( something i grabbed from inside the station ) and told him " you get the *** away from her she's a *** 12 year old girl and there's NOTHING YOU need to say to her AT ALL " and I mean it was automatic reflex because I didn't know from inside that he was asking her for money, i just saw him leaning into the car, I didn't know if he was exposing himself or what, and I knew he was nuts cuz he hollered at me on my way in, better safe than sorry, but I think my maternal instincts definately kicked in that day, he ran for his life because I was protecting my friends daughter from the unknown. I don't take chances when it comes to a childs safety, and even though this girl is a good 5 inches taller than me at her 12 years old, she's still a child to me. She told me i over reacted but i couldn't help it it was instict. Anyways what do you all think of these idiots? have you had any interesting pan handler encounters?

Just curious if it charges faster when it's off. and also, why does it stay charge for like weeks if I talk on it very little but like if I talk on it for hours one day it'll be out of charge?

Someone help me! He's taking me to to the movies tomorrow and he wants me to choose a movie but I don't have a clue what's good. I haven't been to the movies in 3 years :( I don't like blood and guts and scary stuff, I love romance and love and but I hate cheesiness and stupid retard movies like sex in the city *puke* I like action if the plot keeps my attention, X Men surprised me and was better than I could have ever dreamed, and so was spider man. I do not have a clue what's out what should I see?

I have two babies, a dachund and a jack/chi, and my jack chi Peter Pan Parker makes some really non dog like noises, almost like talking! he seems to have more vocal range than Thomas Earl and it's weird. he can bark but most of the time he's doing this talking type stuff. it sounds like talking without the words lol he looks at my other dog and starts his talking stuff all the time and Thomas seems to understand and rolls his eyes at peter pan. thomas earl has a very very espressive face and gives attitude in his facial expression and Peter Pan talks. I guess I'm all set! do any of your dogs do this?

I am trying to find the right companion for my 7 year old dachshund thomas earl, my mother passed away suddenly and make a long story short I adopted a shepard/basenji cross and she didn't work out and I now have a Jack russell/ chihuahua cross and he's way too hyper I'm giving him to my best friend with kids so I need a good dog. I live in an apartment but am very active, what are italian greyhounds and whippets like as pets? I'm considering getting one. how are their personalities? what's it like living with them? do they run away all the time?
