  • Can I do selective colouring/colour splashing on a photo using Picasa 3?

I have photos that I'd liked to change to black and white with something left in colour, I use Picasa 3 but it doesn't seem to offer this, can anyone help? Does Picasa 3 allow this? Or can anyone suggest some free photo software I could use?

  • Was your labour induced? Help Needed Please.?

I'm going in tomorrow to be induced, went in for a membrane sweep this morning and she couldn't reach my cervix :-(

I've to attend hospital at 8pm when they will examine me again, check baby's heartbeat then administer prostaglandins. They've said my partner will need to leave about 10pm and can come back in the morning when they will examine me again and administer more prostaglandins if necessary.

My question is to those who have been induced using prostaglandins previously, how soon after did contractions start, did you need to be given more than one dose, and how soon after was your baby born?

    Thanks in advance :o)

P.S Asked this in the Pregnancy section too but not receiving many responses, think it may be better asked here.

  • Pros and Cons of Castor Oil?

Why are some people certain this will bring on labour? And also why are others SO dead set against it?

I'm not planning on taking it so please don't preach, as much as I want my baby to come I don't plan on doing ANYTHING to speed up the process, he'll come when it's his time to :o)

I'm sick of people asking how I'm feeling and when I say sore, or fed up, or anything they rush to say "Oh drink castor oil", just because I'm fed up and sore doesn't mean I want to go force my body into labour before it's ready! But I'm always curious as when people ask on here for ways to bring labour on there's always a few that suggest castor oil and those who say not to use, just curious as to why? And has anyone taken it and went into labour? (My aunt and cousin have used it 3 times between them and both went into labour within 48 hours, is that just coincedence?)

  • mucus plug or just discharge?

I've been having a lot of discharge the past week, there's been no blood in it (although there was a trace of blood in my urine at my anti natal appointment this week, was sent away for tests and I've to call for results on Monday), it's been thick and gooey like at times but there's not a HUGE amount, it's been spread throughout the past few days, plus I've noticed a slightly sweet smell from it (TMI sorry). Is this just discharge and does it usually get heavier in the runup to labour, or could it be my mucus plus as I'm reading about a lot of women who're losing there's gradually.

    Thanks in Advance!

    P.s I'm 39 weeks today :o)

  • Am I entitled to Maternity Allowance? UK only?

I started work on the 27/07/09 and was 12 weeks pregnant at the time. I am due on 08/02/10 and as I've not been with my employee long enough I don't qualify for SMP. Based on the Directgov website with all the info on MA, I should be entitled to it, I'm just a little unclear regarding the test period. The website states:

"You must have been employed and/or self-employed for at least 26 weeks in your 66 week test period. The 26 weeks do not have to be in a row and it does not matter how much you earn. You do not have to be actually physically at work to be employed or self-employed; you might be off work sick or have been on Statutory Maternity Leave for an earlier pregnancy for example.

The test period is the period of 66 weeks up to and including the week before the week your baby is due."

As the test period runs upto the week before my due date, and the above stating I don't physically have to be at work, will I still qualify despite me starting my maternity leave at 29 weeks? (meaning I'd be employed for part of the test period but not physically at work as I'd already be on my maternity leave that I'm applying for payment of)
