"In my dream, the world had suffered a terrible disaster. A black haze shut out the sun, and the darkness was alive with the moans and screams of wounded people. Suddenly, a small light glowed. A candle flickered into life, symbol of hope for millions. A single tiny candle, shining in the ugly dark. I laughed and blew it out."" — The Joker HACKED (8.24.09) Jessie was here. =)

  • As a minor, can I be forced to testify against my rapist?

On New Years Eve, I was violently raped by a family friend and nearly immediately afterward taken to the hospital. Because I am under 18, the hospital had to report this to the police, who then told me that I had no choice but to press charges because of my age.

The man who raped me has been in jail since then, and my trial is scheduled for May second of this year, but I don't feel that I am, or will be, emotionally stable enough to go through with testifying in court and reliving the whole thing. Can I refuse to testify?

  • Can anybody help me make this poem flow a bit better?

I have to write a Cento poem for my english class. The problem is, I'm absolute rubbish at poetry.

If you don't know what a Cento poem is, it's taking lines from other people's poems and making them into your own. While I truly have tried to give this one my best, it still sucks pretty bad (:

If you think of things that could be changed or added, please let me know.

    Thanks so much!

    Shadows show up sharper in

The long tunnels and the quiet rooms

    Where you can wander

    And reconstructions anguish

    Resounds down the halls.

    There is no healing here.

“Shall I tell you of bitter, forgotten dreams?”

Asked she, “You who are so young,

    So young?”

We hear her speak, but her words mean nothing,

For the veil of melodrama she has worn for thirty years proves

    There is no healing here.

    But because my mouth

    Is wide with laughter and

My throat is deep with song

They can’t touch my inner mystery.

    I am Fulminate, exploding brightly.

I think the difference between them

    And me

    Lies between tears and crying.

The crumbling pressure of this room

    Strains my mind.

Why are we in this place

Where futile attempts at reconstruction are crushed?

After a minute I fall down dead from too much thought

For there is no healing here.

  • What is the plural of bigfoot?

Is it Bigfeet? Or Bigfoots? Or.. what?

It's been irritating me all day.

Also, are Yeti's mammals? Or are they large snow-creatures?

  • I'm having a guy problem...?

So, there's this guy that I like a lot. He and I aren't particularly close, but we talk from time to time.

The problem is, I totally lose my sh*t every time he's around. I can't function no matter how hard I try, and I end up making a moron out of myself.

I think he might like me, but I'm not sure. How do I keep my head level when we talk, instead of freaking out? I've never had this problem, and I don't know where to start.

  • Why do people think the sixteenth birthday is so important?

In turning sixteen today, I find that it really isn't that huge of a deal.

It's just another birthday, like all the rest.

So, what's the deal with the Sweet Sixteen thing? Why is it so important to some people?

BQ - Any interesting/funny birthday stories to share?

  • I'm a bit conflicted about going to France with my class next semester. Opinions, please?

So, I've been planning for months to pay the 2300 dollars to go to France with my french class next semester. But I've been thinking about it, and, I thought that maybe I shouldn't go with the class and go with my mother.

The class has a guided tour of Paris, we stay there for four days. Then we go somewhere over by Monaco, and into Monaco if we choose.

I feel like if I were to go with my class, I wouldn't have time to really *see* everything. While it might be more educational, I really want to be able to take my time and enjoy myself while I'm there. I want to really experience Paris and Monaco, not just skim over the top of all the wonderful things about those places.

So, should I go with my class for the educational purposes? Or should I ask my mother (who is paying for the trip, either way) to go with me on our own? I think it would be a good chance for my mother and I, who've had a rocky relationship over the past few years, to become closer. We'd also really be able to spend our time experiencing things that interested us, instead of being dragged around by a tour guide the whole time. But I also realize that it's going to be much more expensive.

What do you think? What would you do?

  • If you were an animagus...?

What animal would you want to be?

More importantly, if you turned into a chicken, could you lay your own eggs? If so, would you eat those eggs?

That would be strange, wouldn't it? Eating something that came out of your own body?

  • Hooray for new library cards! Recommendations?

I just got my new library card in my new town. What books should I hunt down first?

Any genre is fine. I'd prefer the books to be relatively long, but if they're not, that's alright too.

  • Did you have trouble believing Dumbledore was dead?

I always believed he did, but I loved some of the theories that surfaced.

My favorite theory was that he drank the Drought of Living Death. Or that he was only Dumbledore through the fifth book, and then had somebody polyjuice into him later and went into hiding.

Did you have any interesting theories?

  • B&A: Do you ever get the "What now?" feeling after finishing a book?

Do you ever feel a little sad, if the book was really fantastic?

Do you go through book phases, where you'll read a lot of one genre, and then switch to another and stay there for a while, and so on?

Do you always have a set reading list? When that list gets short, do you add to it?

For writers - When you finish something you've been working on for a long time, and I mean really *finish* it, how do you feel?

  • How can I keep myself from spending money?

It seems every time I have a little bit of money, I spend it straight away.

I'm always spending my money on things I don't need. I do it knowingly. I think about it beforehand, and decide, "What the hell, why not?"

It's not until right after that I get annoyed with myself for it. And I mean *right after.* Within five minutes. And then I go and do it again!

I know what this says for my self control. What can I do to help me stop?

  • How can I convince the children I'm watching to lay down and take a nap?

Their parents told me that it was important that they have a nap, and that they go down by noon.

It's now 1:30, and they still haven't fallen asleep. They're just playing in their room.

The children are two and four. What can I do/say to them to make them listen?

  • Is it possible to safely transport my vinyl record collection without boxes?

I know that sounds kind of silly, but I'm moving and I don't have any boxes. I'd buy some, but I'm pretty broke at the moment.

They're important to me, and I don't want anything to happen to them.

  • I'm really confused about folds in the universe?

I had a long talk with my dad about this last night. I'm still confused.

What I'm wondering is, if there's only one surface to the universe, and it's all folded and stuff, how would a wormhole shoot through a fold? Doesn't the space between the folds not exist?

If that's true, then wouldn't anything traveling through the wormhole cease to exist once it entered the nothing that is the inside of the universe? You can't exist inside of nothing, can you?

I'm super uneducated when it comes to this stuff, sorry. So this may not be making much sense. If so, then just tell me to shut up and move on =]
