Is your economics more Keynesian oriented or Classically oriented?
2 AnswersPolitics4 years agoWhat is so fantastic about Trump's economic policy?
As I moderate democrat (just making it clear I am not on the far left), I do not get the Trump side from any economic stand point. He doesn't understand the concept of specialization (countries specialize in different things, and we cannot artificially bring back jobs back by blocking other countries), nor the necessity for free trade. He is not even a fan of legal (i.e. not illegal) immigration. The establishment Republican's are knowledgeable and supportive of these things (they understand economic theory), so where is Trump economics coming from?
5 AnswersOther - Politics & Government4 years agoAdvice for a long distance boyfriend?
Some info:
I've been with my girlfriend for nearly two years. We started dating in high school, her a sophomore and me a senior. I graduated, we stayed together, and have already been long distance for nine months well I am continuing (another school year has started so it begins again).
We live close together during the winter, summer, and breaks. We do see each other every couple weekends, so its not major long distance ( but will be once she goes to college).
Well, as she starts gearing up to go to university (which will be a different one than mine and will be much farther away), I wonder once again if I am doing the right thing. The communication is hard, the emotional and physical strain is hard, making life choices to support the relationship is hard.
But, something that should come as no surprise, I truly love her and we talk about a future together often. I just am looking for some advice, and also wanted to see if anyone could give me the idea of how much will change when she goes to college.
Thank you and sorry for the lots of text.
2 AnswersSingles & Dating4 years agoDo you think a flat tax is a good idea? How would you implement it?
Anything above 15 percent and you'd be raising taxes on the middle and bottom earners. You'd have to get it below 10 percent to actually have tax cuts for the poorest earners.
Plus, would you just remove funding from Social Security, Medicare, Welfare, etc? There would be nearly no money for those. And that would put thousands, no, millions on the streets.
The only people this would benefit are the top income bracket.
15 AnswersPolitics6 years agoWhy is the word "socialist" used as fear tactic by the Republican party in the U.S?
Call me a socialist, but realistically I just want Universal Healthcare and Free (taxed of course) higher education like Canada, U.K., Germany, Sweden, Finland, etc etc etc.
Are all of Western Europe just a bunch of socialists that know nothing about economics, and somehow the Right Wing party in the U.S. knows everything?
Both the U.K. and Canada have Conservative governments in charge, yet both have decided (and ran on) keeping Universal Healthcare and Free Higher education.
16 AnswersPolitics6 years agoIf a Universal Healthcare system is so bad, why have most of the Western countries adopted one?
Are Republicans more knowledgeable than Germany, Canada, U.K., etc?

4 AnswersPolitics6 years agoAre we going into the second Gilded Age?
If FDR saved the country with the New Deal after little regulation and low taxes on the rich killed it, why should we not try to get a New Deal? I'm tired of Socialist being a dirty word, Unregulated Capitalism (pure capitalism) is once again destroying this country, and we need stronger regulation soon.

Great Image showing the current distribution of wealth. Interesting how the numbers skyrocket when Reagan introduced his tax reform/took office (voodoo economics/trickle down, etc). Since him, tax levels have not returned to their levels back in those days (Democrat and Republican fault, both parties are failures).
7 AnswersPolitics6 years agoChristians: Is God/Jesus on our (the US) side when it comes to war?
If so, take WW1 or WW2 for example. Germany was a Christian nation, while the US was a Secular nation. Why would a god take our side in this situation?
For what it matters, I'm an atheist. But that's irrelevant I suppose.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoCarnegie, Rockefeller, and J.P. Morgan: Captains of Industry or Robber Barons?
On one hand they revolutionized the U.S., building it from the ground and introduced many new technologies.
On another they killed thousands because of poor work conditions, payed their workers so little that their children had to work, and killed competition completely, proving unregulated capitalism (regular capitalism) is as much a failure as communism. They also created the biggest wealth gap in the history of the world.
1 AnswerPolitics6 years agoPoll: Who, in your eyes, has been the worst U.S. President?
You can list more then one if you'd like. You can also explain why, but that's not necessary.
My vote goes to Andrew Jackson, a man that committed genocide on the Native Americans. Did other presidents help with this? Sure, but the Trail of Tears and the Indian Removal Act cannot be excused.
9 AnswersPolitics6 years agoPoll: Who, in your eyes, has been the best President?

I think FDR and Abraham Lincoln are my tops, but I also like Theodore Roosevelt.
12 AnswersPolitics6 years agoWhere does the bible say abortion is bad? Specific verses please!?
God looks Pro Abortion to me:
Hosea 16: The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open."
&
Numbers 5:11-31 (too log so I didn't post it here. I assume you've read the bible though)
For the record, I'm pro choice, not pro abortion. I wouldn't want my wife to have one, but I won't impede her or someone else if they think it's the right thing to do.
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoIf God is all powerful, omnipresent, and omniscient, why didn't he create a species with free will and without sin?
I'm sure a god such as that could have created a species that does not sin, and at the same time has free will. People act as if it's impossible, but it should have been in an almighty god's power to do this.
If you're going to answer the question, answer it and don't preach. You are not going to be able to convert me (just to get it out of the way)
I'm agnostic atheist by the way. This is a question out of curiosity.
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoIf god is all knowing, why would he create a world already knowing there would be so much death, war, famine, disbelief in him, etc.?
Why was a dysfunctional world set up the way it is? He already knew the problems that would arise, yet created this world anyways.
I am an agnostic atheist by the way
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoDo you believe you have any purpose in life?
If you can list your belief or lack thereof.
Personally, I kind of understand the absurdism/existentialism mind set. I don't think there really is an end goal, or any thing we should strive towards. A purpose we have is something we'll have to make for our self.
I'm an atheist-Agnostic
*Don't try to convert me haha
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoHow do I say " At 2 o'clock I hike at Yellowstone National park " in german?
I got the "Um zwei Uhr wandere ich.."
I don't know whether I should use auf, an, or something else, and where they should be placed (I guess probably at the end of the sentence).
Thanks!

1 AnswerMovies6 years agoIs there an INFINITE amount of possibilities in a universe, or an inconceivable amount of FINITE options in the universe?
Is infinite just a word we use when the situation we must calculate is just a situation that we don t have the means to measure in full capacity (in which a numerical value can t be discovered due to it s size)? Or are there truly an unlimited amount of possibilities in the universe? Did I screw up on the definition of infinite?
Might be a stupid question, but I want to see what others know / think.
2 AnswersPhysics6 years agoWhat's your solution for the wealth gap among the income brackets?
Top income bracket is making more than ever, taxed less than ever, and yet they're not paying their workers anymore. The Walton family is worth 175 billion dollars, while the bottom 41.5 percent (131 million American citizens) of people is worth 125 billion dollars. 4 people are worth more than 131 million!
Not only is that unethical, but it makes it impossible for a Capitalist society to function.
What is your solution?
Here's a good video I happened upon by Bernie Sanders if you'd like to check it (it's about the topic at hand of course)
12 AnswersPolitics6 years agoWhat were your solutions for the Iran negotiations? War, because good guys do what they want, right? Or sanctions that did not work?
Some info about the recent deal:
- the deals were conducted by United States, Russia, China, France, United Kingdom and Germany. If you think that Obama/Kerry are poor leaders, surely you can't believe Russia and China were bamboozled by their own "ally"?
- Iran has agreed to not enrich uranium past 3.67 percent, when you need close to 90 percent for nuclear capability.
- Inspections up the wazoo. Again, it's not just the U.S. conducting them, it's the European Union, as well as Russia, China, and the UN.
- A large percentage of Iran's centrifuges will be removed (up to 2/3rds)
http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2015/04/240170.ht...
Sorry American exceptionalists, the world isn't black and white. The U.S. are not hero's, and Iranian's aren't evil baby eaters. They're humans, and we all do bad things (U.S. topple of multiple democrat regimes, proxy wars, funding of terrorists (and Iranians doing the same thing))
Whose on your side? Oh yeah, the Suni Muslim countries (Saudi Arabia, etc), Israel, and parts of right wing U.S.. You guys are a joke, and should feel bad promoting anything but these peace deals. If Reagan had conducted them you would be kissing his toes (as would I for the magnificent peace deal).
I swear to god, if you bring up the warmonger Netanyahu, I am fing done. I don't care about some Israel prime ministers opinion who is on the record for wanting war over peace. He does not run this country, and should have ZERO says in it's policies.
