You are the sole survivor of a shipwreck and are drifting in a small raft parallel to the coast of an island. You know that on this island, there are only two tribes of natives: Nobles, kind folk who ALWAYS tell the truth, and Savages, cannibals who ALWAYS lie. Naturally, you want to call out, "Are you a Noble or a Savage?" The man answers the question, but a wave breaks on the beach at that very moment, so you don't hear the reply. The boat drifts farther down along the short when you see another man. You ask him the same question and he replies, pointing to the first man, "He said he was a Noble." Then he continues, "I am a Noble." Your boat drifts further down the shore where you see a third man. You ask him the same questions. The man seems very friendly as he calls out. "They are both liars. I am a Noble. They are savages." The puzzle: IS the data given sufficient to tell you any man's tribe (my prof. says YES it is)? Is it sufficient to tell you each man's tribe?

I am not a philosophy guru...I need some direction please.

If you could stop humanity from committing this pet peeve that you have...would you?

For instance, my pet peeve is when people drag their feet. It creates a nails on a chalkboard noise that makes me want to ring their necks! What's yours?

I personally like dirty jokes and fart jokes. Most of my girlfriends hate my sense of humor and I'm curious what jokes "normal" girls like to hear.

Chapter ONE

*italics* Whitney’s wine glass fell to the floor. Shards of glass bounced off of the concrete and danced into the air. Each intricate cut of glass caught the sunset in a brief moment of beauty, but wasted no time being suspended in the air and fell back down to the ground. Whitney gasped. She was always so elegant in public-even when she felt fairly tipsy from several glasses of wine. Holding back tears of embarrassment, she quickly summoned a waiter to help her clean up her clumsy act.

With an attempt to portray her demeanor as orderly, she smoothed out her silk dress and placed her perfectly manicured fingers on her husband’s shoulder. Tiny pearls of sweat hid behind her bangs, slowly trying to make themselves visible. Whitney casually dotted her forehead with her evening napkin and slid back into her seat while the waiter insisted on cleaning up the glass himself. Unaware that the entire restaurant held its gaze on Whitney, she went back to eating her meal without making eye contact with the world. *end italics*

Whitney flinched, suddenly aware that she had tuned out her boss’s lecture. For the life of her she couldn’t remember what he was talking about. She felt as if she had just been watching a TV show that put her on the edge of her seat, but come the end of the commercial break, she forgot what the name of the show was called. She waited to get the satisfaction of remembering what it was that had captivated her earlier on, but that answer never came. Her throat felt extremely dry and she noticed a migraine about to envelop her morning. As she massaged her temples, she turned her attention back to the projection screen.

Phoenix, Arizona was plastered in giant orange letters across the slide. Whitney’s brow furrowed at the city’s name. Why had her firm, a local accounting firm, taken it upon themselves to create a slideshow on another city? What was this, geography class?

“We have decided to base our new firm in Phoenix,” her boss paced about with a microphone attached to his collar, “because of the fairly cheap airfares and one hell of a hot deal.”

The room chuckled, leaving Whitney’s pale face unaffected. She stifled a laugh and continued to focus her sole attention on the movement of her boss’s lips. In the event she tuned out again, at least she’d be staring at his cracked lips to let her ears know they had a job to do.

“Despite the recent recession that left many in Phoenix in the predicament of shutting down their companies,” he continued, “we are going to be the face of the new economy.”

Whitney secretly rolled her eyes. She never had a knack for being interested in business jargon, or anything that had to do with money for that matter. No wonder she had tuned out. Shaking her head at herself, she shrugged off the memory lapse and began doodling notes on her legal pad.

“And Whitney will be the head of our Phoenix office.”

We have an entire project on this in my economics class and I just want a definite answer; I'm a little cloudy on what seperates the two. Could you possibly provide examples?

I was thinking about this the other day, and what words--good or bad, describe America in its growth, development, and today's modern world?

A certain top will remain stable (epright) at angular speeds at or above 3.5 rev/s. The top slows due to friction at a rate of 1.3 rad/s^2. What initial speed (in rad/s and rev/s) must the top be given in order to spin for at least 1 minute?

I know that the answer is 100 rad/s but i just don't know how to get there. I'm assuming its a fairly simple problem, but I'm still troubled by how to calculate it. Help me please? my teacher hasn't even gone over this.

Earth has an average distance from the sun of approximately 1.5 x 10^8 km. For its orbital motion around the sun, find the following:

a) average daily angular displacement

b) the average daily distance traveled (arc length)

if you need to know:

there are 365 1/4 days in a year.

Help!! My physics teacher doesn't teach us anything.

I am constantly busy. Mon-Friday my day begins at 6:00 a.m. and I don't get home until 6. Then I have to make myself dinner, and by the time I finish all of my homework it's normally 11 or 12 p.m. and I pass out, just to restart the next morning.

Some people say, "Do your homework at lunch. In class." Well, I do. That's the problem. I have so much homework that even doing it at those times doesn't help the many hours after school.

What can I do to be more energized?! To not feel so run down. I take vitamins already!

I like the topics she covers, her word choice, and the way she presents the novel. Does anyone know of any authors/like this that don't have girls in their books who say "like oh my god" all of the time? Or ones that are still teen, but with more down to earth characters.

Mine's my big toe. If I drop something, bam! My big toe has my back and picks it up. Talk to the big toe if you need to wear sandals.

Lately I have been wanting to lose a little weight. Not much, just enough to tone out the flab and feel a bit better. I haven't started the diet yet, as I need a bit of a plan.

My main concern is what to take for lunch at school. I want to have as little sugar and bread in my diet as possible.

I wake up every morning at six, usually don't get home until three, eat a quick snack, and then go to work. What could I take to work?
