  • Christians , have you read the immoral parts of the Bible. Read exodus 21 and justify your position that this is morally good!?

Read servant as SLAVE. Exodus 21 “These are the laws you are to set before them:

    Hebrew Servants

2 “If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve you for six years. But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying anything. 3 If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him. 4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free.

5 “But if the servant declares, ‘I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,’ 6 then his master must take him before the judges.[a] He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life.

7 “If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do. 8 If she does not please the master who has selected her for himself,[b] he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, because he has broken faith with her. 9 If he selects her for his son, he must grant her the rights of a daughter. 10 If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing and marital rights. 11 If he does not provide her with these three things, she is to go free, without any payment of money.

  • Is there good evidence that most humans are morally superior to the Christian God?

Personally, I have never murdered or killed anyone; I haven’t caused a species wide mass extinction; have never incited others to kill in my name; have never promoted the ownership or owned another human being; turned anyone into a pillar of salt; or forced someone who was going to do the right thing, to change their mind (harden their heart); nor have I ever impregnated a woman with out her consent. I have also never threatened to harm a person for eternity.Nor do I have the means to carry out such a threat! I have done stupid things and made mistakes to which I have learned from (to not do again) and have taken responsibility for my actions and apologised to those I have wronged. The Christian God has done these things so why do Christians say it’s ok and acceptable when god does it but immoral if a human does it?

  • Is there such a thing as culinary cultural appropriation?

If cultural appropriation is real, am I as a white person, allowed to make my own sushi, or am I only allowed to buy it when it is made by a Japanese person. Can I buy it from the supermarket, or is that selling out to corporate greed or corporate culinary cultural appropriation of foods?

  • AM confused about the new testament?

The second part of the Bible recognizes that the institution of slavery exists, but it doesn't make any attempt to criticize it.

In Luke 12:45-48 the Parable of the Faithful Servant, Jesus discusses the punishment of slaves, and says that a slave may be punished for not doing something he wasn't instructed to do.

In Ephesians 6:5-9 Paul instructs the slaves to be obedient.

Colossians 4:1 and 1 Timothy 6:1-3 also admonish slaves to obey their masters.

In his Epistle to Philemon, Paul is allegedly returning a runaway slave to his owner.

In Matthew 18:25 people and their children are described as being sold into slavery.

Colossians 3:11 and 1 Corinthians 12:13 and Galatians 3:28 are sometimes used to defend NT, to show that it supports some form of egalitarianism.

Appears God sees one human owning another to be ok. I don't. I think it is wrong on so many levels it angers me to think that God allows this.

  • Is Slavery implicitly condoned in the Old Testament. I read the following, and am not quite sure...?

Is slavery implicitly condoned in the Old Testament ?

Exodus 21:20-21 and Exodus 21:26-27 regulates the beating of slaves, and states that the owner may not be punished if the slave survives for at least two days after the beating.

Leviticus 19:20-22 gives instructions about the sacrifices that should be made if a slave owner has sex with or rapes an engaged female slave. The slave herself is punished with whipping, but no sacrifices or punishment are required if the slave is not engaged.

In Leviticus 25:44-46, the Israelites were allowed to buy slaves from other nations, and then hand them down as an inheritance.

In Leviticus 25:39 buying your brother as a slave is allowed.

  • Does the bible really promote slavery, I mean, give rules on the conduct of slave owners and rules of conduct on being a slave?

I thought the Bible was infalable. How can owning another human being ever be moral and right. Certinly, if the Bible were true, it sould teach us not to own one another as property.

  • claim of God(s) by all the religions that have ever been, or are current now - a: none are true; b: all are true; c: one is true.?

If for sake of argument, there are 500 religions currently in the world shared between 5 billion people, if this question were asked to the leaders of the current religions, 90% or more would say "c". When asked "how do you know?" they quote scripture, scrolls, holy books: proclaim holy intervention by their God(s); a creation story, a rule book of some type and claim of an after life. all religions make the same claim with the same level of "evidence" So how can "c" be the correct answer. Please do not respond with quotes from holy books or scrolls.

  • is the real reason national parks etc are closed in the US?

is because, the Feds can no longer afford the insurance premium, in case someone fell over a pine cone and sued the gov.. there would be no insurance to cover the court costs , so they closed all the parks etc?.

  • should the citizins of the US have the authority to fire congressmen rather than wait till an election?

wait until election time and vote them out.... perhaps the president can have a right of "your fired" and can then demand a new congressman get elected asap.

  • Is there evidence prayer works?

Where there is no ambiguity involved. For example, when a person says they were seriously ill and prayed to god while in hospital and god healed them. I will not accept this as it is far too ambiguous as it is more likely the doctor, nurses, medication and treatment healed them. No, god did not pour out his grace on the medical team. I am looking for clear open prayer where a person, was healed of say for example, a limb being regrown, an enucleated eye being put back to full use. a T4 spinal injury being healed completely. Stories of "I got off drugs" or "stopped being an alcoholic" also do not count as these are also clearly ambiguous - too many people get off drugs and alcohol without prayer. Stories of blind people do not count as there are many people who suffer hysterical blindness and can be cured by anything. So proof of a loss of an eye being replaced by god with a full new one please.

  • To any religious person, but specify to Christians: Does prayer work?

The Bible clearly promises that God answers prayers. For example, in Mark 11:24 Jesus says, "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." And millions of Christians believe these promises. You can find thousands of books, magazine articles and Web sites talking about the power of prayer. According to believers, God is answering millions of their prayers every day.

So what should happen if we pray to God to restore amputated limbs?

Clearly, if God is real, limbs should regenerate through prayer. In reality, there has to be at least 100 true Christians without a limb, praying to god to heal them... so has he?

    Pictures or it didn't happen.

  • Question for Christians?

The Bible says homosexuality is a sin. Assuming this is true (both to the bible saying it and it being a sin) can you ask yourself if you agree with this wholeheartedly? If the answer is yes, then I want to ask you a few questions about selling my daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7... She is a sophomore, speaks fluent french, always clears the table. What would be a good price for her? Also , touching the skin of a dead pig as defined by leviticus 11:7 ... can I have your opinion on the matter, if NFL football players wore gloves, can they still play football, or should we banish them all as they are unclean? Does the whole town have to come together to stone my brother to death for planting crops side by side or can only a select few make the gathering? One last question, before quoting biblical passages from the bible perhaps it best if you think about the answer to these questions first.

  • Why should there be prayer in Schools?

Why can't you pray keep it within the religious building (synagogue, Church, mosque etc) and at home. I even see people praying in Burger King, blessing their food (I guess so they don't get food poising). And I'm ok with that. Please keep it out of other public institutions.

  • is there proof that any kind of Magic: black, white or pink works...?

As a sceptic I am happy to validate evidence. If any witch, wizard or warlock is able to cast a spell or what ever it is you do so that there is recordable evidence I would very much like to witness this.

  • The Bible. re-written in 1546, 1563,1647 and 1672?

Do you think it is time to re-edit the bible again like it was done in between 1546 and 1672 - There was also the edit during the Council of Nicaea in 489. I think there was another edit between 850 and 1066 but not sure. It makes sense to re-edit it again for modern times - perhaps getting rid of all the bad bits, like incest, rape, murder, genocide promotion of slavery and sexism.

  • two types of Christian?

Am I right in thinking that there are only two types of Christan. those who follow old testament and those who follow only the new testament... or is there a third, those that follow both old and new? Which one is right as I thought the whole point of Jesus was to do away with the old testament and lay down for us to follow only the New.... one last question, those that follow the old testament, i.e. Leviticus , do you follow it fully or only pick out the bits you like?
