Is the science portion of the ACT a speed test?
When I took a practice ACT test and I didn't set a time limit I got every single question right (essentially a 36), but when I did it timed I got a 28?
I don't understand how people are able to read that fast. Is an 8 point different based on time and time alone normal?
Was it just the practice test? I think it might have been a previous ACT test or something made by the College Board.
2 AnswersStandards & Testing4 weeks agoIs it cruel to get my budgies back into their cage by turning off the lights and grabbing them?
Some of them don't trust me, and the ones that enjoy playing with me don't like me very much outside of their cage. Sometimes they just all end up in their cage, but other times it's night time and they're at the top of their room. I turn of the lights, and even my most anxious budgie doesn't fear my hands as much in the dark. She even stays on my hand longer when I set her in her cage! I actually kind of enjoy this because it is one of the few times I am close to two of my five birds. I don't grab them hard, enough that they often escape, but I rotate my hands in front of them so they have to get to the next hand before they can be free to infinity until I get them back to their little home. Still, was wondering if this was cruel? How do I get my fearful little budgies to play with me? (I got them "secondhand" from the pet store so they've already formed personalities and bonds with each other...

3 AnswersBirds3 years agoIs constant existential fear part of a mental illness or is it just a reality of being an atheist who likes living? Help me, please?
It is not the fear of pointlessness that irks me. If I was able to live forever, a point wouldn't matter. I could just be happy and try to help others feel the same. But that is not the case, in my world view at least. I'm so scared...
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality3 years agoIt doesn't feel like I'll ever die. But I know I will. But I can't wrap my mind around this. How do I either deal with it or just forget?
I'm personally an atheist. Theists are welcome to comment, but I have been a Christian my whole life and I don't think there's much to convince me that I'll go to Heaven. Not like I don't want to.
I can't comprehend the nothingness. How does it not consume everyone's mind every day of their lives? One day we just WON'T BE. And billions of years of changes and crap will happen without us. Life is all I have known, because, by definition, I only have a sense of what is when I'm alive.
I'm scared. I've been scared for months. I don't know how to be unscared.
Every second is just another second until my inevitable nothingness and I can't stop it and I cant deal with that. If this is part of some mental disorder please tell me. I know I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and ADHD if that helps. Please! I have so much life left; I don't want to live it in fear.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality3 years agoTrade-offs: Is it more beneficial to keep school start times the same or to change to later for the biological sleep needs of the students?
Changing school start times would disrupt a LOT. It would cost money, take time, and people would have to gets used to the implementation of the change (which costs money and time). That said, teenagers NEED more sleep, but also have actual changes to their biology that make them stay up later and sleep longer. I know there are pros and cons to both sides, and I just want to know what YOU think of the issue, and which side is better for everyone.
3 AnswersOther - Education3 years agoWhy does the school system hate us? (more in description)?
Why do they make us get up at 6 when teens are biologically inclined to stay up later and sleep in? Why do they make us go for 6 hours and then give us and additional 3 hours of homework and then expect us to do clubs and have a good social life and get enough sleep? Why do they think our life should revolve around them when we are SOCIAL CREATURES who should have at least SOME social priorities instead of never seeing your friends in the evening on weekdays ever????

1 AnswerJokes & Riddles3 years agoIs the over sensory overload from ADHD the same as in autism?
I have ADHD and I remember there was this presentation in middle school about mental disabilities. They simulated over stimulation and then asked us what we thought it represented. I said "ADHD." because the simulation was suuuper familiar to my experience but then the lady sort of dismissed it, saying that s not what she was going for as if ADHD distraction wasn t that bad (like what I was feeling wasn t real). So I m just wondering what the differences might be?
