My computer's making a very high pitched noise.?
It's almost like a dog whistle. It started two days ago when the power cut out and came back on while I was on the computer.
I unplugged and replugged everything, I restarted the computer, I replaced the power supply, and I checked all the fans and the hard drive. It seems to be coming from near the back of the computer where the HD, motherboard and power supply is. I can't find out exactly where it's coming from.
It doesn't really go away when I turn off the computer either, it seems to go down to a low white-noise type sound. It only shuts off when I unplug the power supply, and it makes this whining noise for a second before turning off.
1 AnswerOther - Computers10 years agoIf God is eternal and has no beginning or end..?
What was he doing before he made Earth? Was he working on a previous project? If so, what was he doing before that? There had to have been a time where he was doing eternally nothing. Must have been pretty boring.
And what happens if/when every single human ceases to exist? What would God do next, create an entirely new planet? Are we just another intelligent species in the getting-to-heaven process?
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians only, why would you..?
I admit, this is another of my social experiments.
How many non-christians clicked this question JUST because it said christians only?
23 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat would all you theists think if..?
What would all you theists think if the spirit of a dead family member appeared to you and he/she told you that neither Heaven nor Hell exists?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoPascal's Wager reversed..?
I am wondering what you all think about this idea. Yeah, it's long.
I call it Pascal's wager reversed. It's not a new idea here at R&S but I decided to make a question anyway. It's basically taking Pascal's wager and adding my own logic to it. It's also a work in progress so feel free to add any logical flaws you find.
Pascal's Wager basically says you should believe in all types of God even if you don't actually believe in God, because you will probably go to Heaven if you do, and you will most likely go to Hell if you don't.
The problem with this is that the logic unfolds on itself. Why should you go to Hell, just because you don't believe in God? Because of uncleansed sins, because of going against His word, etc.?
First, why would God get so angry at the idea of people simply not following his every word? If I created something, such as a child, I wouldn't force-feed beliefs and actions - I would guide it on the right path and let it make its own decisions and experience consequences on its own. If I were to disown it for simply not believing I was not its father, that'd be just immoral. I'd simply show it that I was its father. It's not that hard.
Secondly, I don't think Heaven would be a very safe or fun place if God was such a hardass. He condemns us to Hell just because we make up our own minds on what to believe. What would Heaven be like? What if we complained that we didn't like it in Heaven? What would He do, ignore it? Heaven wouldn't be such a fun place after all. If God does this, he doesn't look like such a grand and caring creator to me.
If we were to believe God is more easy-going and allows us to make up our minds without getting mad, it shows me he is a much more caring God. Besides, if he cared so much, he would just show himself and prove to everybody he existed so we can all be good religious people without all this arguing and debating. Wouldn't that make things so much simpler for everybody?
All this logic I have come up with leads me to the conclusion that we should not only question God's existence, we should simply not believe in Him outright.
I seriously want opinions on all sides of this. Answering with a question would be better than simply answering, and messaging me outright would be even better.
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow many of you here at R&S..?
This is more of a social experiment, so you really don't have to answer if you get offended.
How many of you debaters (not just Christians, atheists and others too) do the following?
1.Hear claim
2. Find evidence that supports said claim
3. Find evidence that contradicts said claim
4. Compare evidence
5. Present opinion on claim based on evidence
Or do you do this?
1. Hear claim
2. Defend your position using logic (No, Christians, not attacking you, I hear lots of atheists do this too).
If you want, it'd be a bit of a help if you could state what side of religion you are on.
Or you could just report this, using the "not a real question" excuse and go on our merry way.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoTheists, what proof would you need...?
Okay, most of us have seen the question "Atheists, what proof would you need to believe God exists?" several times.
I ask theists, what proof/evidence would you need to see to believe God DOESN'T exist?
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do christians think that...?
Why do christians think that a "theory" in science has the exact same meaning as a theory in anything else?
"oh well its just theories its not exactly proven true"
This is a real question. Did they just not do their homework?

17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat is wrong with my Javascript?
No, it's not going to be fixed with tools > internet options > security, etc.. I've tried this at least twenty times.
This started about two weeks ago. Javascript has somehow been turned off, not just on my browser, but on my entire computer. Yahoo Messenger is completely bugged up, Youtube doesn't play any videos and just tells me that I need flash player updated or Javascript to be turned on.. I tried both these a bunch of times, but they don't work. I've also reinstalled Java several times with no luck.
Whenever I try to do something like play games that use Javascript, it gives me an error message saying "Error: Could not complete the operation due to error 800a01b6" And then it asks if I want to continue running scripts on the page.
Javascript isn't just turned off; it seems to be completely gone from the entire computer. Can anybody help me?
