So. For area i got: 2 + (2y)/ square root of 3. I'm not quite sure this is correct, especially the latter expression. I used similar right triangles and I got: 1/t = radical 3/y. I solved for t and multiplied by two (cause there are two triangles) and added 2 (cause its a trapezoid and the remaining width is 2). But I don't know.

Also, for the depth i got: 1-y. But again, I am unsure of this answer.

Um. So i don t know what to do. I kept playing with similar right triangles and the dept, but I don t get the answer in the back of the text book.
