Why does my portable air conditioner make it more humid in my room?
I have a Black+Decker BPACT08WT 8,000 BTU portable air conditioner in my roughly 121 sqft bedroom. At night I like to run it at 72°F. When the unit is on, the compressor runs until the set temperature is reached, and then only the fan runs until the temperature rises again. When I went to sleep, the humidity in my room was about 55 percent. When I woke up, my room was 72°F, but the humidity had shot up to 67 percent! Yuck! I tried running the unit in dehumidify mode the next night, but it did not help. If fact, dehumidify mode didn't seem to do anything different than cool mode. I woke up and the temperature in my room was down to around 67 degrees, but the humidity was still high. What gives? Does anyone know why this is happening?
5 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)3 years agoHow do I calculate the speed that a ball leaves the floor after bouncing and how do I determine the energy lost druing the collision?
I'm doing a project in physics that requires us to drop a tennis ball from a specific height and then measure some results that come from it. The drop height is 2 meters. Here is the information that I have calculated so far.
Bounce height: 1 meter
Coefficient of restitution: .707
Mass of ball: .0576 kg
Potential energy before the ball was dropped: 1.129 J
Impact speed of ball: 6.26 m/s
Potential energy at height of bounce: .56448J
Here is what I am having trouble figuring out.
With what speed did the ball leave the floor?
Determine the energy lost during the collision.
Assuming the ball was in contact with the floor for .05 seconds, determine the force the ball has on the floor.
1 AnswerPhysics4 years agoHow should I respond when my dad asks me if he is going to heaven?
I was in the middle of eating, and out of the blue my dad asked me if he was going to heaven. At first I hesitated, and then I said "that's not for me to decide, it's up to God". The reason I said that is because I personally am not comfortable answering that question. I believe that god is a higher power than all of us, and I don't think it's my place to answer a question like that. However, my dad took it as me not appreciating him as a father and started calling me an ingrate and saying things like "well since I'm going to hell, I shouldn't care about you". I tried explaining why I declined to answer, and that all the things he was saying couldn't be any further from the truth, but he continues to keep giving me lectures about being loyal to your family. I told him that I would give the same answer to anybody else that asked me that, but he continues to take this as some kind of personal jab at him. He says that I should tell him he's going to heaven no matter what I think. Personally I think if that's the case, then what's the point of even asking me? So can I get some honest opinions? Was I justified with my reasoning behind my refusal to answer, or should I have just told him that he is going to heaven? Because I don't believe that I should have to face criticism for sticking to my beliefs.
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoCan some people give me their opinion on this situation I m dealing with?
So there s this guy I thought was my friend. He told me several times that we were friends, yet he would do rude things and act annoyed around me. So I got upset a few times and then one day he finally said, "I never liked you, you were never my friend, and you ve always annoyed me. I tried to make that obvious, but you just couldn t see it." First off, I did notice the way he behaved. But it wasn t constant. Many times we would talk and laugh and I would have absolutely no indication that he was annoyed. I ve expressed my displeasure with the fact that he told me we were friends several times, yet he refuses to apologize and says he did nothing wrong. He says that he told me that because he "has a filter with people" and that he was only nice to me because he didn t want to hurt me, and that he only told me this after I kept pushing to be his friend. But he said he was my friend. What should he have expected? If you tell me you re my friend, I m gonna try and be yours. But he says he never wanted that. I have no problem with being nice to someone that you don t like in order not to hurt them. Where I take issue is that he lied to me several times and said he was my friend. That goes beyond being nice to someone. When you say that, you are making a commitment to friendship, which in turn makes the other person feel like it s OK to allow themselves to grow closer. And then to betray that trust, is a sin in my book. Do you think he was wrong, or am I overreacting due to anger?
Friends5 years agoCan I eat pizza 7 days after wisdom teeth removal?

3 AnswersDental6 years agoHow long should I wait before getting anesthesia again?
I was just in the hospital last week because of a ruptured appendix and they had to do surgery on me. They put me under general anesthesia for about 45 mins. This was around July 8, give or take a day. Last month, I scheduled to have my wisdom teeth removed on July 25th. They are also going to put me under general anesthesia. Is it too soon for me to go back under? Should I bump the procedure to next month? Thanks.

2 AnswersOther - Environment6 years agoHow do I get through the grief of loosing a friend?
One of my friends was riding his bike on Friday night, and a pickup truck hit him from behind. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died shortly after. This has left me heartbroken and full of questions. Could I have done something to stop this? Why did it have to happen to him? He was only 15. I am 17. Nobody should ever die this young and now I feel like I'm faced with the harsh reality of death. I never got to say goodbye or anything. It all happened so fast. Has anyone gone through something similar? Does anyone have any tips on how I can make it through this? Thanks.
7 AnswersPsychology6 years agoCan someone help me with my math homework on factoring?
I have a factoring worksheet that I am doing. It gives an equation that we have to solve multiple things for. The equation is (x^4-3x^3-21x^2+43x+60)/(x^4-6x^3+x^2+24x-20).
The first question is this:
1) Given that -4 and -1 are zeros of the numerator, factor the numerator completely.
How would I do this? Do I use synthetic division and plug the zeros in?
Any help is appreciated.
2 AnswersMathematics6 years agoWhen basting a turkey, should you break the skin or just baste the external skin.?
We are cooking a turkey for Christmas and are wondering if breaking the skin to baste it is a bad idea. Does it let all the juices out or is it good to break the skin to get more juices inside?
2 AnswersCooking & Recipes6 years agoHow to get over sadness of loosing friends?
I just went on a cruise over Thanksgiving, and while on the cruise, met a lot of friends(I'm 16 btw). We did a lot of things together and formed a close bond over the short time we were together. Unfortunately, we were all so caught up in having fun that none of us ever thought to exchange contact info or anything. And then disembarking day came and the reality hit me that I would most likely never see these friends again. Of course by then it was too late because we were all scattered around the ship waiting in lines to get off. Ever since then I have found myself extremely depressed and deeply missing these friends. I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through a similar situation and if so, how you made yourself feel better. Any help would be appreciated.
1 AnswerFriends6 years agoAre 3mm and 3.5mm connectors the same?
I have an FM radio that had a plug in wire antenna with a 3.5mm connector. My brother tripped over the wire and broke it. I am trying to find another on amazon and the only one I could find is a Bose one that says it is a 3mm connector. However they both say they measure 1/8. Are these two the same thing? Will a 3mm male connector work with a 3.5mm female connector?

5 AnswersAstronomy & Space7 years agoUbuntu 12.04 corrupted help?
I installed a bootable ISO of Ubuntu on a flash drive and have been booting directly that. The computer froze the other day, so I shut the power off and rebooted it. Once it came on, I got to the purple screen with Ubuntu written in white letters. It stayed there for around 20 seconds and then the screen went black. I tried rebooting and the same thing happened. Is there any way I can fix this without having to wipe the flash drive?

1 AnswerProgramming & Design8 years agoWhy do my answers keep getting violated?
I have a 3DS and when I'm looking for new friends I'll search for questions that are asking for friend codes. Within the past week I have gotten two emails saying that my answer to both questions was reported and removed when all it was was my name and friend code. The first one I got Tuesday and I immediately appealed it, but still have not gotten a response. The second I got just a few minutes ago and have also appealed it. Can someone please tell me how my answer somehow "violates" the Yahoo guidelines
1 AnswerYahoo Answers8 years agoIs there a cheap tabletop/clock HD radio?
I've been looking for a decent AM/FM tabletop HD radio, but haven't had much luck. I've been looking at the Coby HDR-650 on amazon, but I've read some reviews that say the power supply makes the AM unlistenable. Is there anyone who has used this and can tell me about it, or anyone who knows of an HD radio that I'm not aware of?
