I'm an OT in a preschool. I love to write stories. My favorite (past) hobbies include: playing the bass clarinet, sleeping, and travelling. Right now I'm too busy to do much because I'm raising my baby.
At 20 weeks, how can I improve DH's ability to 'finish' more quickly during sex?
When I'm not pregnant he never/exceptionally rarely has trouble finishing (unless after having too many drinks for example). But now that I am visibly pregnant he seems to be having a harder time mentally (and I can't say I'm a huge help because I'd rather sleep than do it). When we do manage to get through the whole thing it just takes soooo long (IMO) - I don't need to be going at it for 30-45 minutes+ (I get winded climbing a flight of stairs)! How can I help things along? Any helpful (not lewd) suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
1 AnswerPregnancy10 years agoFrom charting my BBT I think I have a short luteal phase, how long can it take to correct this problem?
I already had a successful pregnancy 4 yrs ago. But since ttc #2 we've had no luck whatsoever for the last 8/9 cycles (I'm 35, so I'm not a 'spring chick'). My nurse midwife is having me chart my BBT & I am seeing a short luteal phase (less than 10 days). I've read some of the diagnostics they can do and some of the treatments, but am wondering how long it can take with treatment (realistically) and what those treatments will/could do to me. Does anyone know?
Thanks for the help.
1 AnswerTrying to Conceive1 decade agoHow long should I give ttc?
I am 34 and have been ttc (have been for 7/8 mos). I am still very torn about having another child (already have a 4 year old), but I don't know if I'm comfortable with raising an only (mostly b/c I myself am an only and it wasn't in my original plan). I can see the pros and cons of both.
As far as the basics, we can afford to have another child, although it would make the budget tighter. We still have all of our baby/infant supplies (crib, highchair, etc). Although we are out of the diaper phase of life we're not that far removed from it. I always planned on having more than one child.
However on the flip side I am getting older, nearly 35 (where they start talking about all the horrible reproductive things that can go wrong). My four year old is a very challenging child with some sensory differences and behaviors (mild to moderate, but still difficult when you can't change the routine or make transitions). If we don't have another I could move on out of the 'being ready for a baby' stage of my life (ie. give away maternity clothes, baby clothes, etc).
Half of me wants a second child and half of me does not...Whichever happens I will throw myself into wholeheartedly and I know I will be happy, but I just don't know what to hope for.
Suggestions?
Thanks!
1 AnswerTrying to Conceive1 decade agoIs there any proof that this years seasonal flu shot will be effective?
I am asking in regards to my toddler because some years they will come out and admit in advance that the shot isn't really going to be very effective. However they always say you should still get it anyway. Last year I had them administer the flu shot to my daughter and she just ended up catching another strain of the flu anyway. There are so many different types of flu out there and those little buggers are always changing so fast, it seems pointless - especially for a healthy child with a normal immune system. Is there any proof out there? not just hearsay or the CDC suggestions? Help!
1 AnswerToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoParents of an only child ...How did you come to the decision to have just one child?
I grew up as an only child and didn't think that I would ever have my own only child. I now have a daughter and I feel wishy washy about having another or choosing to stop at one.
My little girl is healthy and happy. If I have another pregnancy & child there is no guarantee that we will be that lucky again.
I know that being an only child can be just fine but I don't know how to work through this decision. There are many factors that play into this decision, including financial and more importantly emotional.
Any thoughts or suggestions (of a positive nature) would be helpful. Thanks!
10 AnswersParenting1 decade agoHaving problemsmetabolizing sugar, but not diabetic...?
I have a hard time metabolizing sugar, but I am not diabetic. Whenever I eat or dirnk something with a high sugar content (ie. cupcake, brownie, soda) it seems to stay in my system for a very long time. I can feel the effects for up to 9-12 hours later. I feel hyper, giddy, elevated mood - like a sugar rush...long after the typical person gets a boost from these types of food/drink. It is much worse if it is an item with caffeine. This problem with sugars causes me problems with relaxing and sleeping. I've tried to stay away from sweet stuff in the evenings, but sometimes I forget plus I have a sweet tooth. My doctor hasn't found anything abnormal with testing, but it seems like something's off kilter, any suggestions?
3 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhat do you think of the name Grady?
(For a boy.) Is Grady better or Graden/Graeden? I guess that I personaly shy away from Graden/Graeden because of the over-popularity of the 'Aiden' type names. Other alternative names, include: Owen, Liam, Max.

3 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoHow can I choose which car to buy?
I have narrowed down my search to two different vehicles but I can't figure out which one will be the best. I'm kind of stuck because I have to make a smart decision about something big that I'll have for at least five or more years. I've tried to picture myself in one more than the other and that hasn't worked (if I could fuse half of the one car and half of the other, it would be the perfect vehicle). Plus I will have to buy used so that just complicates my decisions.
The one vehicle gets better mileage, has good lines of sight, is AWD, but it will likely need slightly more repairs and has a smaller cargo space. The other vehicle is a part time 4WD, is a reliable brand, has a bigger cargo space, but is significantly more expensive in comparison ($2-3000 at least) and more difficult to locate used (in my area) - so there will be less room for negotiation or meeting my budget.
I hate buying a car! Help!!! Any suggestions? Thanks!
7 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoHow do you remove dead grass off of a hill?
We want to plant some ground cover and sprayed a hill near our house to kill the grass. The grass has finally died (yay), but now I don't know what to do with it before trying to plant groundcover. How do I prepare the hill? It is too steep to use a machine to grind up the grass. Help!

3 AnswersTrying to Conceive1 decade agoIs there a way to research how much a vehicle sold for at auction?
I am looking at different vehicles being sold at a dealership. Some of them are trade-ins but others were bought at auction (according to carfax). Is there any way I can look up how much was paid for a specific vehicle, say using the VIN? That information has to be somewhere. I just am trying to get some more leverage in buying a car, 'cause it's not a very fun experience. Thanks!
2 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoWhat's the best way to decide if it's time to have another child?
I have a daughter but I'm not sure if/when I should have another child. I think that we could make the money thing work but that it would be tight. Suggestions?
7 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoWhich vehicle should I switch to: Toyota RAV, Subaru Forester, Honda CRV, Honda Accord?
I have a daughter, so I will be putting a car seat in the back. Plus I live in Syracuse NY area, so you can factor that in. Thanks!
5 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoMoms: Which of these cars do you think I should switch to...?
I have a daughter and the carseat seems to fill up the backseat of my little '03 Civic. I love my car and have had great luck with it, but I'm feeling too claustrophobic. Plus putting her in and out of the carseat hurts my back as my car sits fairly low to the ground. So I've decided to buy a different vehicle.
What I need is something that is very reliable, slightly bigger (not a van), with a little more headroom, and decent cargo space (something that could fit a large stroller). I have to buy something used (daycare's expensive), so I'm not looking at the latest and greatest - probably an '04-'07.
These are the vehicles I'm considering:
Honda Accord
Honda CRV
Toyota RAV
Subaru Forester
Subaru Outback
Please pick one of these and (if you don't mind) why you would suggest it (ie. your own experience, etc).
Thanks so much!!!

5 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoWhat is the best way to decide what vehicle to buy?
I currently drive a Civic and love my car, but I have a daughter in a car seat in the back. It's killing my back to put her in and out of the car, since it's so low to the ground. I have to stoop to put her in. We're very cramped, especially when anyone else rides with us. I need to get a different vehicle with more room, but I don't have tons of money. Plus I need a vehicle that is very safe and reliable (I'm no mechanic). I am considering vans and wagons and even small SUVs. I am worried about getting a van in case the price of gas skyrockets again. But on the other hand I'm concerned that if I get something smaller we won't fit. I am considering having another child, but two kids is my limit. Help! Any suggestions? Thanks.
2 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoHow can I dry out a cistern?
I have a large cistern in my basement, which we don't use. It almost always has water in it and it is causing a mold problem (the white fuzzy kind of mold). I am not sure what to do with the cistern because it is pretty big (approx. 10 feet long and 4 feet wide with a wall to the depth of 5 feet - although there is only generally up to a foot of water in it). Plus one of the pipes from our kitchen runs directly through the cistern and through the ground out to our septic system. I don't know how to dry things out more down there. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have their first and last names as well as the country. Can I locate the email address with only this information.
This person is my friend. She's written down her email for me, but by the time the mail gets here the address seems to be smudged every time. I haven't been able to email her ever.

1 AnswerOther - Computers1 decade agoWhat is the most 'affordable' of the Hawaiian islands?
I'm thinking about visiting Hawaii in a couple of years (to have time to save up the money) but I've heard that they are very expensive. Which of the islands is the most affordable. I will be traveling with my husband and young child. We like the simple things in life like beaches and luaus, but not spa treatment type stuff. Any realistic suggestions? Thanks!
