  • Going from a single-member LLC to multi-member, I didn't get a new EIN.. What can I do?

I have a business that I started in 2015 as a Sole Member, I had a "partner" but he wasn't officially on the business as a member until 2016 due to needing to finish paying to buy into the store. In 2015 I filed the store under my personal return, and he got a 1099 form for his half of the store pay. I added him to the state registration when I renewed in early 2016 as a member.

I didn't get a new EIN from the IRS, and we operated all of 2016 under my existing EIN, we paid employees and filed payroll under this EIN, and got 1099-k forms from merchants..

What should I do at this point to fix this, and put everything on track correctly? Should I just file our form 1065 for the first time this year with the old EIN?

  • 30 years old- Change in bowel movements, and pressure in lower back for last 1-2 months.?

On the bristol stool chart I was type 4, and am now type 6 with mucous. There is also a pressure in my lower left back.

My big fear is colon cancer because it's the first thing that comes up on google. My mom died of skin cancer, so it scares he h3ll out of me.

I have seen my doctor, She ordered 3 stool tests and did a quick blood test that came up negative. If the stool tests are neg. we'll begin an antibiotic, if that doesn't help then a colonoscopy.

How likely is colon cancer, and should I ask her if the tests are neg. to do the colonoscopy sooner?

Also, when the doctor was asking questions she asked about mucous, I said no, or minimal but today when I was collecting the samples I noticed there's a lot. Looking for answers it seems like this could be a less-likely sign of colon cancer? Not sure- Please let me know your thoughts? Thanks!!!!

  • I accidentally e-filed two 1099 forms for a contractor?

I used the intuit 1099 e-file service and while entering contractors I put one in twice, and e-filed it. What should I do, or would the IRS detect this as an error?

  • No hot water in tub, or shower but it works everywhere else?

Everything worked fine this morning, but this evening there is no hot water in the bathtub, or walk in shower.. The two sinks in the same bathroom work fine, When you turn on the water for the tub it comes out alittle, but not enough to do anything with. I have tried a couple of things already- One article I read suggested there being an air bubble in the line, and to open the hot water side up, put your hand on it to create pressure then turn the cold water on to back flood the line, this didn't help. I also hooked up a shop vac and tried pulling it through, also no change.

line comes up through the concrete slab in the bathroom under the tub, then runs to the shower, What would be my next move?

    Thanks in advance :)

  • S-Corp as an employee?

I am in the process of starting an S-Corp, I am confused on one thing.. Everything I have read said I should be an employee of the company, and write a check of fair wages, I understand that. Now, the question is, It's a computer support company, Do I already hold the position as CEO and need to hire myself as a technician? Or would the company hire me as the CEO?

  • Self-Employed and taxes - Hate them!?

I am a small business owner, I am the only employee. I started in 11/2009 with a company doing sub contractor work. They pay once a month and it depends on how much I work as to how much I make, an average month is 12,000 and they do not take any taxes out due to it being sub-contractor. Up until now I have been doing this on my own, I know i'll pay self employment taxes on the entire amount this year.

My question is, I just filed for S-Corp Friday and plan on doing that starting 1-Jan, and making myself an employee. I will write myself a check, so for instance if the company makes 12,000 a month I will pay myself 60% in a check for payroll in the amount of $7,200 a month and take the rest in dividends. With this, I was need to know, for tax purposes should I make myself a 1099 employee and still pay my self employment taxes and federal income tax on the $7,200 and just federal tax on the dividends, thus eliminating the "company" from holding any taxes, Or should use a payroll service which will deduct taxes from my regular check for the IRS? Also, is it possible to pay taxes monthly instead of yearly / quarterly?

Just trying to figure out the best, or easiest route to handle taxes.

  • As a landlord can I go and cut the grass without telling the tenants?

I am renting a house to some people. Last month they gave me a notice that they were leaving, 5 months early. They will be out by Thursday, but in the mean time i'd like to go by and begin getting the yard work done, etc. Am I allowed to do this, since I won't be technically entering the property?

  • Signed a contract with a company that don't exist?

My wife and I are in a bit of a situation, I would appreciate any help I can get at this point. The short story is that we signed on a house for owner financing, paid almost $5,000 down for, the person signed under a company name of Apex Management. I have searched Florida, and it doesn't exist. I asked him, he told me he was registered in GA, I called them, and again they cannot find a company with that name. He doesn't own the house, he offered to the owners to sell their house, and that he had investors who would cover him. I have talked to the real owners and they are also getting a run-around from this too, he is missing payments, etc. My main question is, that since the company he claims to own doesn't exist, can I file charges for some type of fraud, and sue him to get the money i've paid him back?

    The long story:

Back in March of this year, we were looking for houses, and found one on craigslist with owner financing, We called the person and saw the house. We fell in love with it, the guy explained that he would allow us to do owner financing, and that he and his partners bought houses, fixed them and sold them with them doing the financing on it. We told him we could put $4,900 down on it then.

The next day, he called and said that his partners said they needed another $2000 down for us to get it and I told him we could not do that. He wanted to set up a meeting, which him and I went to. At the meeting, he agreed to let us pay the other $2000 in payments, as long as it was paid within a year and that we'd need to also have 1.5% of the sell price at that time for closing costs. I signed the contracts with him, and gave him a check for $4,900 that day. For the next year, until we come up with the remaining $2,000 and the 1.5% of the value, we are renting the home.

When I got home that day, I began doing some research, the contract was between us, and Apex Management which he signed as an agent of, I searched for the company with the division of corporations, and found that it does not exist in FL. But, went through with it anyways.

Time has gone on, we've paid our 'rent' every month on time, if not early. Never a day late. Last week he contacted me asking for the remaining down payments, I asked him for an exact dollar amount we owe, including the 1.5% down, he set up a meeting between myself and him and I went to it, He told me at that time that instead of $2,000 it was suppose to be $3,000 and that he made a typo in the contract. We talked it over, and got it down to $2,000 again plus the 1.5%, he again has asked for the remaining down payment and i've told him it will be within the year, that we don't have any agreement other than it being done within the year. I got an email from him yesterday, which states:

    "Russell,

It was good to see you yesterday and delighted to hear things are going well with you and the family.

Good News: I was able to get approval for the modifications we discussed and even arranged the adjusted lower down payment as requested. However the concern is still that none of the loaned down payment has been submitted. I’m sure you’ll recall that the down payment we loaned you was supposed to be submitted within 6 months of our original agreement (March 20, 2010) yet we left the manner in which you submitted this amount up to you (added to the monthly payments, occasional random amounts as you can, your choice). Of course that would mean it should be due in just a few days.

That being said however I was able to attain agreement to extend this date to November just in case you need some more time. "

This is false, the contract states a year. I think i've been scammed, I have given this guy $4,900 plus $1,100 a month for rent for the last 6-7 months.. The owners of the house are on him for the rent, that he owes them ($900 a month) and the insurance for the year. He doesn't want me speaking to them directly, for obvious reasons. I am going to try to sit down with them, and just do financing with them directly.

  • Giving custody of a child to someone else?

My wife's best friend was given custody of her brothers' kid. Basically, he is in jail, and has been even before the child was born, the childs mother said she didn't want to deal with the kid, and dropped him off at our friend's house, and said she will give up custody. My question is, can this be done via a letter giving up power of attorney as a temp. measure? And, can the father do this as well, even being in jail?

The child is in danger, and poor health. The mother was on crack, and other things and since our friend has the child now, she said the baby is taking 8oz bottles already, at 7 weeks. Our friend says it looks like the baby's stomach is messed up, and the baby has a hernia. It makes me sick to think of a baby going through this, and just looking for answers for our friend as to what she can do to make sure this child gets the love and care he deserves.

So, the question is, how can custody be given, our friend doesn't have money for alot of legal help. Can a notarized letter be written giving up custody? I have told her she needs to call DCF in, and let them be aware of what's going on.

  • Wife due any day, switching to blue cross insurance, pre-existing condition?

The long version is, My wife and 1 year old son had to go on medicaid last year due to my being laid off from work, I am not proud of this at all, don't get me wrong. I never wanted to have to put them on that but was forced to, due to being un-employed.

She got pregnant again, back in March and is due within the next 2 weeks, A month ago I started a new job, making alot of money, and wasn't eligible for insurance, Now the company has been bought out by a bigger one who is offering us coverage now. But, my questions are:

With medicaid, do we lose coverage as soon as I got the higher paying job, or do they have to cover until I am eligible for insurance there?

And, if we do switch to BCBS do they have to cover her being pregnant? If I had more time, i'd be alittle better off, but with only 2 weeks, I am kinda in a situation.

  • Updating a dish network receiver?

Basically I bought a 501 receiver, it didn't have a card in it so dish net sent me a new G3 card (purple card). The unit has software version P360, and the latest for it is P403, Typically I know you turn the receiver off to update it, it isn't working. I believe its due to the card, because right now it's not recognizing the card in it, I have another 501, and I had the original yellow card for it, it updated to the latest and now works with the purple card. Is there any way to update this receiver without a card in it, or forcing it to update with the purple card it has in it?

I bought a wing from t-mobile, it's their PDA phone, it broke so I contacted them and they sent out a replacement, A week later I had not received it, so I called them and they had sent it to the wrong address, (They spelled the street name wrong) so they sent another one out, a couple weeks later I got the other one too, But, didn't turn it in.. Now, a friend wants to buy it, does t-mobile have any way of knowing if they used it, I have heard they can block IMEI numbers, and track them but do they actually do so?
