  • If we tend to remember the more hurtful memories, why dont we remember bittersweet memories differently?

By bittersweet, I'm talking about how most of the time people only remember the "good old times" and yet I've heard that our brains are wired to remember the more hurtful memories?

This is a simple question because I love hearing peoples opinions. Plus, the deeper you go into the into your opinions/philosophy, the more likely I am to give you the 10 points.(; Yay, bribery. (Even though I'm really not giving you anything, just some measly points :3)

  • I would love you forever if you helped me-Net Ionics?

Write the following net ionic equation: Sulfuric acid is forgotten in a lab for ten years.

    My guess is: H2S + O2 -> S +H2O

    Also there's another part:

Net ionic half reactions for Sodium Chromate is add to hydrochloric acid. Label all half reactions.

My guess: Cr2O7 + 2H+ -> H2O and then i dont know what to do with the chromate...

If you could help me, I'd be in your debt. Thank you so much.

  • What minimum spacing should the engineer leave between the sections to eliminate buckling if the concrete is t?

The concrete sections of a certain superhighway are designed to have a length of 11 m.

The sections are poured and cured at 8 oC.

What minimum spacing should the engineer leave between the sections to eliminate

buckling if the concrete is to reach a temperature of 70 ◦C and the coefficient of thermal

    expansion of concrete is 1.2 × 10^−5(◦C)−1 ?

  • Consider a pendulum swinging through a small angle. What is it independent of?

    Its period is independent of

    1. the length of the pendulum.

    2. the height above sea level.

    3. the location on the Earth’s surface.

    4. the mass of the pendulum bob.

    5. the acceleration due to gravity

I think it's the height above sea level because that's so ludicrous, but i want to make sure.

  • Physics Help! Collision problem with silly putty ball that sticks to a bowling ball?

A ball of silly putty hits and sticks to a bowling ball that was initially at rest. After the

collision, the total kinetic energy of the bowling ball and silly putty is

    1. more than the kinetic energy of the silly

    putty before the collision

    2. the same as the kinetic energy of the silly

    putty before the collision

    3. less than the kinetic energy of the silly

    putty before the collision

So this is part of my ehw, and i already tried #2 and now i have -5 points for the problem -__- please help me!

  • Physics collision problem: Find the string length in simplest terms of m?

A block of mass M is hanging from a string

of length ℓ. A bullet of mass m traveling horizontally with speed v0 strikes the block and

embeds itself inside it. The system of block

and bullet swings until the string is precisely

horizontal, at which point the system is momentarily at rest.

    M v

    M + m

    v0

    m

Find the string length in simple terms of m,

    M, g and v0.

    And the choices are:

    1. ℓ = vi^2 / 2g(1+ (M/m)^2)

    2 ℓ = vi^2 / 2g(1+ (m/M)^2)

    3 ℓ = vi^2 / 2g(1 - (M/m)^2)

    4. ℓ = vi^2 / 2g sqrt(1 + M/m)

    5. ℓ = vi^2 / g(1 - (M/m)^2)

so i get that somehow we're supposed to use .5mv^2 = mgh but i dont know what to do after that D: Please help me, and thank you so much!

  • Lovely Physics: Consider the setup of a gun aimed at a target (such as a monkey)?

The target is to be dropped from the point A at t = 0, the same moment as the gun is fired. The bullet hits the target at a point 106 m/s, let the angle between the vector V(initial) and the horizontal (x) direction be angle= 43.3 degrees and let AB (the height from which the monkey is dropped) AB = 89.3 m. The distance d = OB (the horizontal length) is the x-coordinate of the target.

The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2.

What is the height (BP<- P is the midpoint) where the collision takes place?

I have dont really know what I'm doing here, so I was hoping you could help me. Please show steps, and thank you so much!

  • What’s the best backpacking backpack?

So this weekend I’ll be going to Beaver’s Bend (if you don’t know where that is it’s...wet.) But in the future Im hoping to go to Philmont (a week long backpacking trip). I’m not really sure what to get since this is my first time backpacking ever, and ive looked at two backpacks so far the TETON Sports 5200 Internal Frame Backpack and the Olsprey Kestrel 48 Pack. I’m looking for a pack that will hold a sleeping bag and hopefully has a cover for rain and such if i can. I would like it to be versatile for the 2 day trip and the week long trip, and it would be great if the pack looked pretty cool too >.< In case you haven’t figured it out, Im a girl so I need it to hold a few more things than a guy would just pack and still be pretty lightweight. Thank you so much for helping me!
