I am Chinese, and yes, I do enjoy most Asian jokes. If "ching-chang-cho" is the best mockery you can think of, then don't attempt it. You'll just look like a fool. In my spare time, I do rifle, fencing, reading, drawing, and violin. Weird questions are okay with me. I LIKE PIE (as well as hamsters, corners, pizza, cookies, cakes, waveboarding, eating in general, etc)!!!!! I can get to be immature occasionally, but I attempt my best to avoid becoming so.
Help me find sandals?
I'm going on a trip to Europe, and I'm very excited to wear skirts! However, I have a small problem: I have no sandals! Technically, I do, but they're the type for heavy duty hiking and/or whatnot. Can you help me find some sandals please? Here are the things I'm looking for in the shoes:
1. Available in stores (must try on before buying)
2. Flat or low-heeled
3. Look good on wider feet (yes, the dreaded curse of shoe purchasers)
4. Must be compatible with shorts and skirts
5. Comfortable and durable enough for long walks (I'm going to be doing a lot of exploring on feet). Soft leather is welcomed due to that reason.
6. Not overpriced (I think I'm capping it at about $50...I would just buy myself something nice in Europe if the price was any higher though I'm hoping to break into the shoes before I go)
Some things about me that might help:
I'm on the shorter end of the spectrum: a mere 5' 3" (or 160 cm), and I'm Asian so work with me here please. I know I had mentioned as my first point to have it available in stores, but online descriptions are okay because I probably can find them around in a store. I'm *really* interested in wearing gladiators, but having never really worn anything fashionable (tomboy edging towards new things), I don't know how that would work out.
Thank you so much in advance for helping me out!
2 AnswersFashion & Accessories10 years agoIs there a quote from Frankenstein by Mary Shelley where Dr. Frankenstein regrets making the Monster?
I'm looking for a quote from the book where Dr. Frankenstein regrets making the monster. I know there is a place in it, but I have tried several times with no success. The more obvious the better, but I'm not too picky. Please offer some suggestions with at least a chapter or a page number so that I can find it in the book. Thanks in advance!
2 AnswersQuotations1 decade agoHow do I solve this (using pv=nrt, Ptotal, etc.)?
You are given a 1.00-g sample of a dry gas that occupies 1.00 liter at a pressure of 545 Torr and a temperature of 25°C. The sample is bubbled through water at 35°C and collected over water so that the total pressure is 640 Torr and the temperature is 35°C. What will be the observed volume of the wet gas?
I know the answer to be .94 L, but how do I get it?
Thanks in advance for your help!
1 AnswerChemistry1 decade agoHow do you describe resonance using Localized Electron Model? Molecular Orbital Theory?
This is my explanation (please check to see if I make any sense and if my statements are correct):
The localized electron model states that electrons “belong” between two specific atoms, and so although there is as high of a chance that the electron may be in one area as another, LEM denies it. Therefore, resonance in the form of alternate structures has to be drawn in order to validate the molecular structure. However, the molecular orbital theory allows electrons to be delocalized (meaning that they can move around the entire molecule as they please), demonstrating resonance more easily as the electrons are acknowledged to have freedom.
Is there anything that I left out that I should include?
2 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoWhich is better, Black Friday or the days following Christmas?
I've hit the shops on Black Friday many times with my family. My friend had told me that shops drop their prices even lower the days after Christmas, but I would like to know which time is cheaper for what (I'm not participating in Cyber Monday because I've got classes). For example, clothing, video games, computers, etc. In other words, what items are cheaper during which holiday time period (Black Friday/After Christmas)?
Thanks!
5 AnswersChristmas1 decade agoWhat is the best way to enjoy Orlando, Florida during Christmas week (The nightmare week)?
From what I've figured out through some searching, the Disney and Universal Theme Parks are pretty much death traps for tourists around the holiday week (Christmas to New Year). I do want to visit the parks of course, but I'm trying to figure out the best schedule so that I'd still be 3D by the end of the trip (China's crowds can get pretty bad at amusement parks, so I figure that it'd be about the same at the parks here in the US). Are there any recommendations from anyone who has experienced this nightmare time and know a way to get the best out of it? When should I hit the big parks, and when should I try something else around Orlando? (Do note that I am under 21, so NO BARS/CLUBS)
Just as a side note, my family planned this trip, I had no responsibility in this idea of going during the worst week ever.
Thanks!
3 AnswersOrlando1 decade agoWhat type of paint should I use on a cardboard ship?
I made a pirate ship out of cardboard and tape yesterday for a school competition, and now I need to do some painting to cover up the thing and make it look somewhat realistic. The ship is quite large (length of about 4 or 5 feet and height of 2.5 feet) and I don't have a ton of time (lots of schoolwork), so I need a style that would be quick but still looks good. I will be using acrylic paint for some of the details for sure. However, I'm not sure what type of paint to use for the entire hull. Should I use spray paint or acrylic? Some of both? Thanks!

I was just messing around with some Pre-Calculus homework when I noticed this. What is the reason/explanation behind this phenomenon? Thanks!
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoHow do you solve this equation (step by step)?
0 = 50,000 (1.01^x) + (550.34 / 0.01) (1 - 1.01^x)
x = ? (In other words, at which point does f(x) = 0)
It's the beginning of the school year, and I simply cannot remember how to do this by hand! Yes, I could plug it into the calculator, but I'm required to show the work step by step, and I would like to be able to solve similar equations in the future (our teacher is banning us from using calculators on tests). Therefore, I'd be extremely grateful if you could explain each step. Thank you so much for your help!
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoHow should I behave in Korea?
I'm going to South Korea for half a year to study abroad. I will be staying at people's homes and interacting with many households. I want to know what types of actions to avoid (taboo), what are encouraged, and so on and so forth. I am Chinese myself, so though I'm not completely familiar with every piece of etiquette that exists in Korea, I do have a general idea. True advice is appreciated!
3 AnswersKorea1 decade agoTips for an interview, specifically NSLI-Y?
I have received a letter from NSLI-Y (a government sponsored language program) that says that I'm a semi-finalist, and that I will be interviewed in person in a week. I really desperately need some pointers as to how to dress and act at the interview (especially what type of answers I should give). I have no true experience as to an interview. I know they'll be asking something about my personality, friends, and family at the very least. Please, help me by giving me pointers. If you've ever applied to NSLI-Y and got interviewed, please tell me what kinds of replies I should give! Thanks to everyone who took at least the time to read (if not also answer)!
3 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoIs it strange to wear a skateboard helmet for snowboarding?
I am going snowboarding, and renting all of my equipment at the place.
(I don't go often enough to make it worth purchasing my own equipment). I've done my research, and many people say it's better to wear a helmet. So my question is, would it be strange to wear a skateboard helmet to the slopes? Would it be better to rent an actual snowboarding helmet?
2 AnswersSnowboarding1 decade agoI need advice about dealing with a good friend (10 pts)?
I have a friend that I met approximately 3 years ago. She is really kind and friendly, but lately, she's been acting too familiar. When I'm heading to another friend's house that she is barely knows, she decides herself to hitch a ride along and come with me. When we get to her house, she acts completely at home, demanding to see where the fridge and snacks are. After viewing the entire stash, she comments on how little there is (examples: "There's nothing in the fridge!" "I can find more in my cabinet at home!") without taking note of my friend and I becoming slightly annoyed. I highly doubt that she means any of this in a mean way, but it appears to me that it's stepping way over the line of etiquette. Her parents are extremely busy, so they aren't around much to teach them much.
Questions are: How can I nicely inform her that she needs to be more polite and to please not follow me wherever I go? Also, how can I give her the idea that she should leave without being offensive?
Another thing: She mentioned on the way out that she wants to come back with me some time. I really don't think that's a great idea, and I need to figure out a way to turn her down the next time I go.
Thanks for reading my question(s) and please help me!
4 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoPlease list some beginner violin music!?
I've played violin for approximately 8 years now, and I've been helping out by teaching kids some violin technique at the middle school that I used to attend. I'm extremely familiar with a lot of more advanced etudes and pieces, but I'm drawing a blank on simpler ones (I used to have a binder full of sheet music that I played when I was little, but I can't find it anywhere!). I'm not looking for "Row Row Row Your Boat" type of easy, as these kids do know how to play, just not terribly well. They can handle school orchestra music, but they tend to do so out of tune. If you have any suggestions as to etudes and/or pieces that I can teach them, I'd be extremely grateful! Thanks!
3 AnswersClassical1 decade agoWhat movie is this? 10 points to best answer!?
There was a movie that came out around 2005 or 2006. It was about a time when a part of the population became infected with some sort of disease, and the American government surrounded and put them into isolation (or quarantine) for multiple years. After a number of years, they send a few agents in to survey what was left. Instead of a massive gravesite, they find a group of people who are ready to rebel and break free. These people have tattoo like markings all over them. I don't remember the rest, but I'm positive it was rated R. Please help me by giving me the name of the movie, the director, and the date it came out. Thank you!
