I tried to prep salads for the week, but I think I did it wrong. Are my salads screwed? Can I save them?
I put lettuce, canned black beans, canned corn, shredded cheese, crushed corn chips, and lime juice in each salad. Beans and corn on bottom, then lettuce, then coated that in lime juice, then topped with the cheese and chips. Dressing will go on when I'm eating it. So yeah, the canned beans and corn were quite wet and also the lime juice is wet, and I just found out you're supposed to keep lettuce dry. Is it hopeless or can they be saved?
8 AnswersCooking & Recipes4 years agoMy dog just got spayed and there's a new dog in the home. What to do?
My dog got spayed a couple days ago and is recovering pretty well. A few days before she got spayed, a new dog was welcomed into the home. They seem to get along other than my first dog's food aggression (which is being worked on). My first dog is 6 months old and the new dog is a 3 year old male who is smaller than her. She does seem to get jealous when he gets my attention. I have been keeping them separated, my recovering dog is staying in my bedroom and I'm with her all the time to make sure she doesn't mess with her stitches (she's a tricky one). But my other dog has been wanting to be with me as well. I tried putting my recovering dog in her crate in my bedroom, and having the new dog with me on the bed so they are separated but still near each other. My female is not happy about it, whining and watching his every move until she finally settles down for a nap. I heard that it's a bad idea to keep new pack mates separated, but they have to be for her recovery. She tries to wrestle with him all the time but he doesn't like it and growls at her. She won't stop, even when he growls and nips at her. I don't want her to get too excited. My new dog seems to have adjusted really well otherwise. What should I do? My husband is deployed so I'm caring for them on my own.

5 AnswersDogs4 years agoWhich types of herbal tea should I try?
I love herbal tea and I have been looking into the different effects different herbs have on me. My favorites right now are chai (herbal blend- not black tea) and a chamomile-lavender-lemon balm blend. I don't drink tea that isn't %100 herbal- no black, white, grey, etc. teas. I definitely prefer organic, good quality tea. I've been looking into buying tea/herbs from Etsy sellers or somewhere similar, where I can find a wide, good quality selection. I would love to try less common herbs and/or make my own tea blends from said herbs. I just don't know what effects which herbs have! So here are my desired effects:
-Stress relief/calming
-anti depression/happy energy
-fertility/sexual health
-other cool effects teas you know of can bring!
I normally like my tea strong flavored, but I'm not that picky about taste. Thanks!
5 AnswersAlternative Medicine4 years agoShould I get a rabbit/rabbits?
I love rabbits and I'm really thinking about getting one or two. I already have a dog (rat terrier), and I don't know if she'd be friends with a rabbit lol. However I don't mind keeping them apart at all times (they can be in different rooms/out at different times/etc). The thing is, my husband and I just moved out of our studio apartment into my parents place (he's deploying so I'm staying there for a while). My parents aren't big pet lovers, mostly because of smell/mess, so I think they'd only allow rabbits outside for now. I do have to live by their rules in their house! So I'd buy a hutch and keep them as outdoor rabbits until I move into a new apartment with multiple rooms, in which case they will become indoor rabbits. I'm home most of the time, no job or school to go to, and we don't have kids (yet) so I'll have lots of time for each of my furbabies. But is the extra effort/expenses/etc worth it? Are bunnies good companions? Thanks!
2 AnswersOther - Pets4 years agoHow should I introduce my female puppy to my in-laws' two female dogs?
My husband and I are going to be staying with his parents for a weekend (we do every month, sometimes for a whole week or longer). They live on the same property as my sister in law. Each household has a female dog. They are both fully vaccinated, we checked. So that should be fine. My puppy is very small (rat terrier), and my husband's parents dog is a small dog as well, although of course bigger than my pup. It's most important that she get along with her as we will be sleeping there. The other dog is a little bigger, probably medium sized. Apparently the two dogs get along when they happen to be outside at the same time, but I'm unsure of how well they do with new dogs. To my knowledge they don't meet new dogs often. My puppy tends to be more on the fearful side of new dogs, but normally doesn't get aggressive and just stays near me. She's never really met a new dog officially, only seen them briefly. Please help me, I need them to get along as this will be a regular thing!
2 AnswersDogs5 years agoWhat licensing/legal requirements are necessary to run a pet shop in Alabama?
Other than a basic business license, what would I need to obtain/do to legally breed and sell: pet rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, mice, gerbils, geckos, and/or Betta fish? I've tried to research this, and all the (Alabama) laws I'm finding are for cats and dogs (which I will not be breeding), I've found none for these animals. I have some experience breeding animals, and I am a huge animal lover, so I plan on being very careful and attentive with each one. I don't plan on breeding all of those animals at once, probably one or two types of animals at a time, if I can handle caring for all of them at that time. Does the number of animals kept or sold/frequency of breeding affect legal requirements? I don't want to cut any corners here. Thanks!
2 AnswersOther - Pets5 years agoHow long does it take to go from no credit to good enough credit to get a loan?
My husband and I are trying to move into our first home. It's nothing fancy, it's a trailer home and it's only about $18,000. However, neither of us had any kind of credit history until he got and started using a credit card a few months ago (maybe 6 months?) We've also been living in an apartment for the last 6 months and always have paid rent and utilities on time, if that matters. Given that we paid everything on the credit card off on time, how long would it take for us to have good enough credit for a loan for this home? Does it vary from bank to bank? Any advice? So new to this! Thanks!

3 AnswersPolls & Surveys5 years agoWhich rat pairing will produce the most variety of babies?
I have a grey (I think Russian blue) hooded Dumbo male, an agouti berkshire Dumbo male, a pale orange (silver fawn?) hooded pink eyed top eared female, and a black hooded Dumbo female. I have already bred the grey and pale orange rats together and they produced 3 agouti and 1 black, all hooded/variegated top eared babies. Which pairing would make for the most variety babies physically? I do not know their pedigrees because they are from pet stores, I'm trying to start up a small pet rattery because there are no rat breeders in my area. They are from different stores do they are likely not related. I have tried to research this information myself but have not been able to find clear information available. Thanks for any and all info. Here is a picture of my first litter for you to admire. 😉😍
2 AnswersRodents6 years agoWhen/how can I check on my newborn rats?
My female rat got pregnant (accidents happen) before she bonded with me. She doesn't really seem to like me, and has tried to bite me before (however she was pregnant at that time). She just gave birth (OMG so exciting my heart is melted) but her nest is inside her igloo hut and very well hidden, so I can't see any of her babies (just glimpses while they were being born). I want to check on them and see how many there are but I don't want to move the igloo and ruin her nest. I also want to socialize them as young as possible, so when and how can I start holding them? Thanks!
1 AnswerRodents6 years agoWhat's a good small, unusual, yet cuddly pet?
I have rats and I LOVE them. They're so sweet and loving. But something I really love about them is the fact that they creep out/intrigue everyone else! I like having a pet other people find weird/unusual. But I also need an animal that I can keep inside my room that doesn't have too much of a bad smell (like ferrets do!) because I sadly still live in my parents' house and they're not overly fond of animals. I really need something I can cuddle with and bond with (that's my kind of pet) so fish, birds, bugs and anything else I can't really hold/sit with is out of the question. I haven't had any luck with Guinea pigs, and ferrets smell too bad, I was considering a rabbit but I'm iffy. If you could include pros and cons for your answer that would be great too! Thanks!
3 AnswersOther - Pets6 years agoIf both rats are hooded, will al the babies be hooded?
Father: blue (fairly dark grey) hooded, black-eyed, dumbo
Mother: silverfawn (I think... pale orange color) hooded, red-eyed, top-eared
So what would their babies look like? A good variety?
1 AnswerRodents6 years agoWill it be too much work to have 5-6 rats? (3 boys, 2-3 girls)? How many do you have?
I only have one rat right now and it's really pretty easy. But I want to have 3 boys and 2-3 girls (separate cages of course). Would it be much, much harder? I mean, I really only see it being about double the work to clean (bringing in that second cage) and the overall cost/need to change food/water/bedding would obviously increase. But other than that I don't see it being much harder. I let the rat I have now out of his cage to roam around and play with me whenever I'm home, I figure I'll just let the girls and boys out at separate times. How many rats do you have?
3 AnswersRodents6 years agoAre things going well with my new rat?
I got a new pet rat two days ago, and he is just precious. It was love at first sight. I did get him from a pet store (I know, I know) but the reason I ended up bringing him home is because he came right up to the side of his cage to see me. And when I moved up close to him he didn't get scared. He hasn't seemed timid at all since I've had him, he's let me cuddle and pet him and he seemed to enjoy it. He will get annoyed with it and start "nipping" at my fingers if I try to continue to pet him lol, but he doesn't actually bite hard. I've had him out of his cage and on my bed with me and he just explored and crawled on me and let me pet him. He didn't really try to make a run for it, he did try to get into places I didn't want him but all I had to do was turn him around and he didn't put up a fight. When I come in the room or near his cage he comes out his igloo and says hello, possibly wanting to come out of his cage and play with me. But when my sister attempted to get him out and play with him he hopped right back into his cage. Also he never tries to jump out of his cage, when I have the lid off he does sniff around and peer over the edge, but he doesn't try to escape. He seems to be very very intelligent and I'm hoping we'll be able to bond quickly! Has he possibly already bonded to me a little? Do you think things are going well for only two days lol?

1 AnswerOther - Skin & Body6 years agoPet rat genetics, what will the babies look like?
I have reserved myself a couple of baby rats from a (hobby) breeder whose rat is going to give birth any day now. The mother is a blue hooded fancy and it looks like she has dumbo ears. The father looks to be an albino double rex with dumbo ears as well. What might the babies look like?

1 AnswerSingles & Dating6 years agoAm I falling in love? What should I do?
I've only hung out with this guy like less than 10 times. I don't even know why I feel like this. Everything I've learned about him I really like. He's so interesting to me, even learning that he doesn't like donuts seemed so fascinating (which is absolutely crazy). He's so unique and his personality just captivates me. I cannot stop thinking about him. His smile makes me so happy it's the best smile I've ever seen even though I know it's not really anything special, just an average smile. Every time I look at his eyes its like I'm mesmerized, I love his eyes even though once again they're not really anything special. I talk about him all the time and I fall asleep thinking about him and wake up thinking about him and wait all day to get a message from him and it's insane. He's told me that he also has these feelings for me but I haven't told him I feel the same. I'm afraid to be in love, I've been hurt so many times. This seems so dumb and crazy. I've kept my feelings inside and tried not to let him see how much I really feel for him because I don't want to get into a relationship if I'm just going to get hurt again. I don't know how to handle this. I feel like I'm just being stupid for feeling this way and that I should just snap out of it and treat him like any other guy who has some stupid crush on me but it feels different to me for some crazy reason. Part of me thinks he doesn't really care for me like he says but that's so paranoid. I just don't know.
