  • Quick survey on happiness?

I am running a very short (less than 2 minutes) survey about happiness for my Advanced Multivariate Statistics module as part of my degree. All responses are greatly appreciated!

  • How do I pursue a masters degree?

I am currently sitting my AS exams and will be doing my A2 exams next year, so I am beginning to think of university choices.

The career I wish to go into is forensic psychology and I have already done some research into how to follow this path.

Firstly I have to complete a British Psychological Society (BPS)-accredited degree in psychology, leading to Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), followed by a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)-approved programme of training leading to registration as a forensic psychologist.

After this I have to either achieve a BPS-accredited Master’s in Forensic Psychology, followed by a BPS Qualification in Forensic Psychology Stage 2, or a doctorate in forensic psychology.

My most likely path would be to take the masters.

I have looked at a large number of universities and have found several that offer BPS-accredited degrees in psychology, but I can't seem to find any that also offer and MSc in Forensic Psychology except for a small handful, which strangely, are very low down in the rankings.

So in short, my questions are:

    - Why are MSc's in Forensic Psychology seemingly only offered by low ranking universities?

    - Would I have to get my degree and masters at different universities?

    - Am I missing any important information about how to get a masters? Could I get an MSc at a university that didn't publicly offer it?

  • Can I use emails to myself as a valid form of copyright?

I am currently writing a novel and want to feel safe that my work cannot be copied. I had heard of something called the "Poor Man's copyright" in which you send an envelope containing your work through the post to your own address, and keep the sealed envelope, which will have been date stamped by the postal company. After some research I found that this isn't a concrete form of copyright as it is possible to send an unsealed envelope which you can then place work in at a later date.

So instead, I am thinking of using email.

Every couple of weeks, I will send an email to myself with the file attached. The email will state that I [my name] am the writer and thereby owner of my work, "[novel name]" at the date of [date of email].

I will then attach the file and send the email, which I will keep in a separate folder within my email for future reference.

I want to know if this would be valid, since each email would have the date it was sent, will contain my name (which isn't a common name at all), and the file containing the novel.

And also, if there are any other ways I can make it more valid, what are they? (I was thinking about maybe adding my National Insurance number, since this is unique to me)

  • Why do multipack items have bar codes?

Most multi-pack items I have bought say that they are not to be sold separately, so why do they put bar codes on the individual items?

  • Tips on coloured contact lenses?

I bought some red contact lenses for a Halloween party. They are one day ones, and they come in a little plastic pot of solution with a foil lid.

I looked up tips for putting them in and removing them and it said to soak them in fresh solution 24 hours prior to wearing them, but I'm not sure if this applies for my contacts since they are presealed in a pot of solution.

Do I need to soak them in fresh solution or are they ready to wear?

The brand is Innovision and they are one day use, electro red

  • Is it fair that we should pay for our own books in sixth form (UK)?

Since compulsory education the UK is free, and the government has raised the school leaving age to 18 for the current year 11's and 17 for the current year 12's, is it not technically wrong that sixth formers should have to pay for the books they need out of their own money?

When the leaving age was 16 it was understandable, because sixth form was not compulsory education, but my year has to be in some form of education till we are 17 and the years below until they are 18. This doesn't have to be sixth form, we can also go to college or get an apprenticeship, but considering jobs are so hard to get these days, and that the government is encouraging people to go into higher education, I don't see how it is fair that we should have to put money into our education.

  • what has caused these bubbles inside the brain? (pictures)?

Earlier in biology today we were analysing various slides under microscopes.

I found one of them interesting and that was this one which was a small slice taken from a human cerebelum.

I noticed that there were circles dotted throughout the inner sections of the folds and was curious about what they were.

The teacher said it could be several things:

    Damage to the specimen

The specimen decomposing (apparently these slides were quite old)

Areas where the staining chemical has not coloured the specimen

    Something related to blood flow

Here are the pictures I took:

  • What are some good acoustic songs?

Looking for songs to play in my band. We have a drummer, guitarist(me), bass player, singer/pianist, and a singer/guitarist

If it has piano that's a bonus but it doesn't need to because our pianist can just sing instead.

Any genre is okay, I'm looking for a lot of songs to suggest.

  • Can I use a HDD enclosure to transfer my iTunes library to a new laptop?

My old laptop decided to die last week and it isn't worth repairing, I have new laptop now and I want to get my old iTunes library back.

I can think of a couple of possible solutions, but I would like to know if they would work. So:

Method 1: Put the HDD from my old laptop into a HDD enclosure with a USB, then move the iTunes FOLDERS onto my new laptop.

Method 2: Remove iTunes from my new laptop. Use the HDD enclosure to move the iTunes PROGRAM file to the new laptop.

Option 3: Connect my old laptop to an external monitor (it was the screen that broke) Open iTunes on the old laptop and export the library (this will save it as a .itl file) I can then move the .itl file to the new laptop and import it into iTunes

Will any of these methods work? And if so, which ones?

  • Why was the Stanford Prison experiment so important to the field of psychology?

I'm using this to help me with my psychology bridging project. I have researched the Stanford Prison experiment and have finished the sections on what the experiment was and why it was conducted. The section I am on now asks why the investigation was important to the field of psychology.

Just a few points would be fine, I can expand on them as I go along.

    Thanks.

  • Calculate the empirical formula of the oxide of lead which contains 6.47g of lead to every 1g of oxygen?

I've been stuck on this question for ages and simply cannot remember how to do these! If someone could explain how to do it, rather than just giving me the answer then that would be great!

  • Help with Chemistry Bridging Project?

The question is: Give two reasons why it would be difficult to answer question 11 above for iron or copper

    Question 11, which I have now answered was: What charge will each of the following elements form in ionic compounds;

    • Aluminium

    • Barium

    • Rubidium

    • Phosphorus

    • Bromine

    • Selenium

    • Strontium

    • Aluminium

    • Rubidium

    • Phosphorus

    • Bromine

    • Selenium

    • Strontium

I need this for my AS chemistry bridging project, but I can't find any of these in compound form, so for example I don't know how many atoms of aluminium make up a molecule and google is only showing me aluminium bonded with other things.

So if someone could just tell how to do one of these I would prefer to do the rest myself. Thanks.

  • What brand of acoustic guitar strings are these?

A while ago somebody gave me some strings for my guitar and they were brilliant, I'm trying to buy them again but I don't know what make they are.

The E A D and G strings are gold, the B and high E strings are silver. The ends that go through the machine heads are covered with red fabric on the E A D & G strings. The ball ends are round with a little hole in. I have included pictures.

    Headstock before removing strings: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0nFHrJc48_fdUpJeU...

    Red ends after removing: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0nFHrJc48_fRHl1dn...

    Ball Ends: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0nFHrJc48_fYXUxRj...

The high E is a 0.011 if that helps.

I think the packaging had a picture of a guitar on it, so its not elixir or anything like that

I've ruled out D'addario because they have colour coded ball ends and the ball ends on these are all gold

  • Can I get some feedback on my original guitar tracks?

I have three of my original tracks on youtube at the moment, I'd like some opinions on them.

Original 12 - This one is my personal favourite, it sounds the best through headphones at around 80% volume. It has a bridge so do try to listen to the whole thing. I recorded this in my schools dance studio to create the echo effect.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnGHRFN_vN8

Original 13 - This one is a bit more lively, again it has a bridge so please listen to it all, this one isn't the best of recordings however as I did it in a different location to where I usually record.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2UPfbrp20Q

    Original 1 - My very first original track,written when I was 14.
