If as parents, we are homeschooling our children, should only one parent work?
I as the father, am the main bread-winner so to speak, and my wife has taken on the role as the stay at home mom / teacher to our children, who are both 1 and 7 respectively.
Recently, my wife decided to take a part time job, where her best friend is the manager, working 3 days a week and 5 hours a day on those days. She is only making 8 dollars an hour doing said job. And even more recently she has decided to work an extra day here and there.
I have noticed that the house has become a little less well managed, ie; clean, and my daughter, the 7 year old has been doing less and less actual school. My wife claims that they read everyday still, but that hardly constitutes as "school" in and of itself.
Our financial situation is not stable all the time, but we manage on my income solely. Although she claims that the reason that she felt she needed to take the job was becasue we are lacking financially. And I admit that we do struggle a few months out of the year, as my employment does have weeks where I make less, and some where I make more.
Also, the days that my wife works allows me only 4-5 hours of sleep due to the fact that I work nights, and must get up with the children when she leaves for work on those particular days.
Am I being unreasonable for requesting that she needs to quit this new job, and concentrate on what is more important?
10 AnswersHome Schooling1 decade agoDo ordinary folks really care that much about the environment?
All this hysteria over global warming and climate change has got me wondering. Do everyday, hard working people actually go out of there way to help to reduce carbon emissions or cut back on electricity usage?
I myself consider myself a normal guy, I go to work, I pay my bills, I take care of my family, and then I like to do the things I enjoy. I eat meat, I watch a lot of t.v., I don't fret bout recycling, and If it's cold I turn up the heat, and if it's hot I turn on the AC. I don't feel guilty about my life, and I make no apologies.
When I die, the planet will still be here, and when my kids, and my kids' kids die it will still be here, and probably for many more generations beyond that. I hardly doubt my ghost or whatever will care that the Earth got a little warmer. I will be long gone by then.
I don't consider myself to be insensitive, but I honestly don't think ordinary folk give a damn about global warming.
2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhy am I suddenly getting very sharp chest, shoulder, and back pains when I sneeze or cough.?
I keep getting these sharp stinging (feels like needles in reverse in my body) pains more intense when I sneeze than cough.
I do have mild hypertension, and I am trying to get over a sinus cold right now too, but should I be worried about this?
My uncle passed away at 36 from a heart attack, I am 29, so I am a little concerned. Although I'll be the first to admit that I will put off going to the doctor no matter what.
Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a way to block unwanted calls on your cell phone, whether it be an ex or a bill collector?
I have Verizon if that makes a difference.
1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoWhy are many of the European countries allowing muslims to live by their own laws, and not the countries laws.
If you take a look at France, there are very large muslim sects in the country, and they no longer follow the laws of the country first. They usually go by Sharia law, and claim they do not need to follow any other law but that.
This is becoming more and more common in many countries around the world, and I fear that the U.S. isn't too far behind in bending to this groups demands.
Is there anything we can do to combat this instead of caving in?
Everytime someone tries to stand up to these people, they get called a bigot or a racist. It just doesn't make sense.
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow do I change the fuel pump on a 94 Ford Escort LX.?
I found the metal plate under the seat, disconnected the plastic wire connector, and removed the plate.
Under this plate is a very rusty looking ring with two fuel lines connected to it and four small circular wire connectors.
How do I remove the ring and pull out the fuel pump to change it?
Also, since the ring is so badly rusted, can it be replaced, can I get the replacement at the auto parts store?
Also, do I need to prime the fuel pump before reconnecting it back to the fuel tank?
Thanks, and sorry about all the questions, I have never done this before.

The car stalled earlier, and will now only turn over but not start. I can smell fuel after letting it turn over for a few seconds, but it may not be getting a spark? The car is a four cylinder. Any help would be much appreciated.
7 AnswersFord1 decade agoWhy do a lot of black families drive to the generally white areas to go trick-or-treating?
I live in a northern suburb of Detroit, and every year on Halloween, there are car loads of black kids being driven through the neighborhood by their parents. Do white people give out better candy or something? I just don't get get.
