Device that will charge my computer battery?
So the input jack on my Dell laptop is broken and I just need to grab some files from the desktop but I don't want to pay a computer repair shop $20-80 to do that (my quote) if there was a device that could externally charge the battery. Is this a thing?
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks8 years agoIs my cat sick or am I just reading too much into it?
So my male 4-5 year old neutered inside only orange tabby started breathing a bit faster and harder than "normal" cat breathing two weeks ago, but after counting the breaths, they weren't quite at a level of needing emergency care, so I watched him for two days. He was eating and drinking like normal and other than seeming to be a bit fatigued after exertion, he was pretty normal. After 2 days, I take him to the vet i always have used (theyre a rural clinic with a vet and a vet tech). they take his temp and say that it's 98.9, which I know is low...
Keep in mind that when I put him in the kitty crate to transport him on the 15 minute drive, he went from being completely normal to hyperventilating by the time I get him to the office.
So after they take his temp, with him still mouth breathing at this point, she does a physical exam and tells me that he's pretty dehydrated and that she couldn't feel his bladder. She continued to tell me that she thinks his bladder may have ruptured. She asked me if I had seen him urinate. I said no because I have other cats. She showed me that there was some dried blood on the outside of his urethra and referred me to a specialist for this. She said she would give him a steroid shot to see if it helps. She did and it seemed like his breathing worsened.
I took him back home because, I didn't have much hope or the $1k+ up front that the weekend emergency surgeon would have charged me up front (that was my quote). He layed on the tile floor on the hallway and continued to breathe heavily for an hour. He eventually calms his breathing back down and poops and pees. 3 days later, he's COMPLETELY nml. Then 3 days ago he starts breathing faster than nml again but it's not constant. He's fine other than that. Should I take him to another vet and let them over-charge me and possibly still do nothing or take him back to other? Could he maybe just have asthma?
6 AnswersCats8 years agoHow to get legally married in Connecticut?
My boyfriend and I are going on vacation to CT (we live in TN) this week and want to get married there. We don't want a wedding or really any type of ceremony other than whatever is required, just to be legally married. We will be staying in East Lyme. Neither of us have ever been married before, so we have no idea how to do this.
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics8 years agoHow to identify location of old class photo?
I found a stack of old photos at an antique store in Adams, TN a few years ago. These are group class photos from around 1925-1930. I really want to find out where these are from. The problem is this: they are not from a school in the county I bought them in because their letterman jackets have a "T" on them and that is not a local school from that era. I feel they have to be from the south because one kid is holding a cowboy hat. One of the photos has younger kids and older kids in it, which makes me think it is not specifically a high school. The only identifying things in the pictures are that on the sides of the building columns, it says "Erected 1912(it really looks like 1812 but I think 1912 is more likely), ? Ransdell: architect, Otis Bridges & LA Findley: advisory board, GA Richardson: trustee and it lists a contractor too." I have searched and searched the internet far & wide for these names & come up empty handed. Anyone have any ideas how to get these photos identified, other than going to every county's historian in the state & bordering states? Is there a list of schools from that era somewhere online, so I can search by the name of the school, since I know it must start with a T.
1 AnswerHistory8 years agoTermination for mental illness in TN?
My boyfriend has been working at his job at a chain record store in TN for over 2 years now. About 5 months ago, he went to his doctor and was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and OCD and put on medications for it. After being on the medications for a month, which tended to make him a little spaced out and not as productive as he was before he was on them, his boss told him, "I don't like your work performance when you are taking your medications." My boyfriend obviously continued to take them because, well, he needs them.
Another couple of months went by and he was trying to find a job closer to home and found one. When he told his other job of this, his boss and supervisors insisted that he continue to work there because they "needed him" because he was such a hard worker and knew how everything was supposed to be done. He continued to work there full time because the new job wasn't giving him hardly any hours.
Jump to today. He walks into work and the boss that had made the comment to him a few months ago says, "you don't work here anymore." His explanation for being fired was "inconsistent work performance." He has a piece of paper stating this as well and witnesses to the explanation.
I normally think lowly of sue-happy people, but discrimination due to gender, sexual orientation and mental illness is disgusting and should not be allowed to happen for any reason. Would we have grounds to sue over this? I understand TN is an "at-will" state and what not, but I would think this could be an exception. Any legal advice appreciated. :)

1 AnswerOther - Local Businesses9 years agoAdvice on wounded cat..?
I found an adult male cat tonight with a puncture wound(down to he muscle tissue), the size of maybea Nickle, on his shoulder area. He doesn't seem like he's in too much pain, as I cleaned it with warm water and put Triple AntiBiotic on it and he didn't even flinch. However, it seems to be oozing yellow pus. My vet isn't open until Monday and I will take him then, but is there anything I should know about taking care of it over the weeend? I have some IM Rocephin(i'm a nurse so i have random medcations..) in 250mg doses-should I inject him with some of that?
If I take him to the vet, what will they do that I can't do at home. What anti-biotics will they give him? Will they give him pain medication to take until it heals? I'm worried about my new friend...
5 AnswersCats9 years agoDance instruction videos?
Anyone know of dance routine videos from musicals, broadway shows or anything similar. When I was younger, my friends and I would memorize the dances we saw in CATS and it got me in amazing shape. I would like something similar but maybe even modern pop song dance routines as long as they're challenging.
And not just the video, but an instructional video.
Thanks!
2 AnswersDancing9 years agoLaptop will no longer turn on?
I have a Dell 1520(i think thats the model) and it's about 4 years old. After having it for two years, I noticed that the pointer was going crazy. Somehow I concluded that it was because of the battery so I removed the battery and it stopped doing this. I decided that the battery was probably bad so I just kept the computer plugged in at all times and never got a new battery. Well after a while of constantly having it plugged in, it had a harder and harder of time trying to keep a charge. I was having to put books under where the end was plugged into the computer imput. I did this for about a year and sometimes it would take a few minutes and a little bit of manipulation and playing with it to get a connection to the cord but it didn't ever NOT turn on.
Well now it's not turning on. I even tried to use another cord to plug into it. Should I try to put a charged battery in it to see if it works? How much would it cost if I wanted to take this into a computer repair store. Any advice, tips would be appreciated.
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks9 years agoMy 1 year old cat has a huge bald patch on her back?
So I have 5 cats. One of them is basically feral, but I let it live in my house cause I don't have the heart to get rid of her. When feeding her this evening, I noticed that the part of her back right above her tail (about 4 inches x 2 inches) is almost hairless and red looking. I know she has fleas and I see her itching around her head but I never notice her digging in that area. She and the other cats are not allowed outside and I have no other animals that are.
Even if I figure out what is wrong with her and get the medicine to treat her, how am I supposed to go about doing it since she will not even let me get near her for more than 2 seconds.
Everyone tells me I should just let her go free because she just sits and looks out the window all day and barely socializes with the other cats, but I feel like that's cruel since she's been indoors since 2 months old.
I just need some advice.
2 AnswersCats9 years agoFree online degrees or certifications?
Does anyone know of websites that offer free certifications or degrees in pretty much anything (underwater basket weaving, etc)? I mean completely free. I don't mean those sites that claim to offer degrees in things for ~only~ 100$, I'm talking about something that you'd have to actually read, take some tests, etc.
Also, I realize there are some colleges that offer free courses in things. I want something that will equal a certification.
Thanks
Other - Education1 decade agoFor those diagnosed with Bipolar disorder Type II?
For the past year, I've suspected I have type 2 bi-polar disorder. I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety by my doctor but can't afford to go back probably for another 4-5 months or so to discuss this with them. I'm actually a nurse and aware of the clinical signs and symptoms of both Bipolar disorders, but they're broad and don't really specify durations of cycles.
I was wondering what your manic or hypomanic states are like? How would you describe your feelings during them? How long do they last? If you have mixed states, what are those like and how long do they last?
3 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoPuppy potty training?
So my mom found a puppy that might be a little dumb. He refuses to pee/poop outside. He will literally hold his business in while he's outside(sometimes for hours) and as soon as he gets inside, he runs and finds a place to poop then goes and pees in a couple of different places.
We're unsure of his breed as she found him along the side of a highway. He looks like maybe part rottweiler/border collie.
If he peed outside and then had accidents in the house, we could understand that cause he is just a puppy. But he acts like he thinks he's supposed to do his stuff inside?
Any ideas on why? I told my mom that maybe his previous owners had him do his stuff on puppy pads so maybe thats why he only does in the house.
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCan the mailman be held accountable?
I recently had a car run down my mailbox and haven't had the time to go get a new one put up. I went to my local post office the next day and informed them of what happened. The guy didn't take my name but assured me that the mail would be sent back to the post office until I got one put up. Well apparently, my mailman gave my mail to my landlord who lives miles away and in turn, my landlord gave it to a friend of my mother's to give to me. There was something personal in there that I didn't want my mom's friend to read but he opened it and read it. I realize that what my mom's friend did is a federal offense but can my mailman be held accountable for purposly delivering my mail to someone other than me?
7 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhy don't a lot of Christians celebrate Halloween?
They say it's a pagan holiday but. . . . . so is Easter.... and Christmas.... and Valentines Day..... and New Years.... AND a lot of wedding traditions are rooted in pagan rites. It's just that Halloween is the only one(not counting new years) that didn't get Jesus's name hammered into it throughout the years so Christians feel safe to celebrate it.
I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just stating facts and just want to know what is the point of boycotting this holiday versus all the other ones.
9 AnswersHalloween1 decade agomonth long vaginal bleeding?
So, here's the situation: I've been experiencing vaginal bleeding for almost a month now. It has rarely been heavy. Every now and then there are tiny clots and the blood is usually mucousy and brownish red but other times it is just plain old bright red blood. I will visit a doctor if it continues so no need to lecture me. I just wanted to know if anyone has experienced anything similar. Also, I am not and have never been on birth control and I'm definitely not pregnant. I am experiencing a bit more stress in my life right now. Oh and I only experienced pain once so far and it was moderate and only lasted for about 30 minutes(usually I have excruciating menstrual cramps).

3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoBaron von schrenck-notzing/rudi schneider photo question?
Does anyone know of a website that has pictures of a young(11 or 12 years) Rudi Schneider? I have scoured the internet for this one specific photo of a young boy engaged in a seance with Schrenck-Notzing(amongst others) and I am assuming that it is Rudi Schneider since he is the only young boy I'm aware of that was involved in his studies.
I have googled & googled & googled and nothing has turned up.
Any help would be eternally appreciated.
1 AnswerParapsychology1 decade agoWhat happens to mail that gets sent to a non-existent address?
My mom sent me a bubble envelope with some of my jewelery in it because I just recently moved from TN to AZ. She's not 100% sure if she sent it to my address or one that doesn't exist(I checked that it does not exist.) It's been 5 business days & I haven't received it. She didn't put a return address on it(no clue why..). Would they keep it at the post office in my town for a period of time or would they just trash it. Im really upset that my jewelery is probably just going to be thrown away. . .
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoAlright, so this is a VERY long shot but here it goes:?
There was this picture I had saved the link to because I thought it was amazing but the link is no longer working and the site doesn't exist anymore. I don't have the link anymore, btw. Anyways, if someone could find it for me, I'd be FOREVER grateful. Now let me describe it.
It was an older style photograph, black & white, taken in the early 20th century of a group of people sitting around a table conducting a seance. The medium was a younger boy and he was at the head of the table(round), stooped over in a trance. There was a levitating trumpet in the background, some ectoplasm and all the people in the photo are sitting around the table holding hands & facing the medium.
I believe the filename for the photo was something like baronvontrumpet.jpg or something. I did a search of all those keywords & nothing has come up.
