  • Have you read Without a Map?

Has anyone read this book by Meredith Hall? It is a memoir about a girl who became pregnant as a teen in the 60's, and was forced by her parents to surrender her child for adoption. She was reunited with him as an adult. What did you think of this book?

  • does dad's name have to be on birth cert?

I'm an AP, but see a lot of women posting that the father's name is not on the birth certificate. I know our daughter's dad wasn't on her original either because the first mom doesn't know his full name. However if you know the first name are you legally obligated to put it on there (regardless if you're considering adoption or not)? I'm just wondering since I see so many saying it isn't there, but it seems to me they know the name in many cases.

  • change nose jewelry or wait?

I had my nose pierced 5 weeks ago with a gun (yes, not recommended). The stud isn't the best, and is rough around the edges so when my daughter bumps it, it becomes irritated. I want to change it to a screw in which is gold (22k). Should I do it now or wait longer? I'm afraid I won't get the new jewelry in. Please don't say "go to reputable piercer". I'm in india and people aren't very well trained. Everyone has a pierced nose, but nobody thinks much about how it is done, or that it requires any expertise.

It is sometimes slightly red, but no sign of infection and not painful. I'm still cleaning it twice a say with salt water.

  • If your husband adopts your kids, what about divorce later?

I see a lot of moms asking how their husband can adopt their children. I'm sure in some ways this helps a family, but I wonder what happens if you later divorce. Would the child always go to the mother, even if the father would be a better parent? I think if I were in that situation I would want to be the sole legal parent just in case the marriage didn't work. I am happily married, but at the same time I know about half of all marriages end in divorce.
