Born and raised in the OKC area, I now live in W Central AR. I'm 39 & a mom of 3: a 22 yr-old son, 20 yr-old daughter, a 15 yr-old son & a 4 yr old grandson, all of whom are the lights of my life. I'm an avid storm chaser (admittedly an amateur, but I love the adrenaline rush that comes w/storm & tornado chasing; I am originally from the heart of Tornado Alley!) I love nonfiction self-help books, esp. of a metaphysical or spiritual nature. I love photography, interior decorating, SpongeBob, baking unusual theme cakes, & I've been casting astrological birth charts for 14 yrs. I'm a fun person...but I'm pretty sarcastic, blunt (some say BRUTALLY honest, and I DO have an ornery streak in me. ;-) If you don't want an honest answer to a question, then don't ask, because I WILL tell ya!

  • Trouble Unlocking Cell Phone...LG290?

My friend was given a used LG 290 cell phone. She charged the battery and when she went to turn it on and add minutes to it, the phone prompted her to enter a passcode. The person who gave her the phone says he doesn't know what it is; not only that, but he doesn't even remember what the phone number for it was... My friend says she has tried "everything" to figure out what to do. She can't call LG because, obviously, she has no phone. I have a phone she could use but I don't get any cell service at her house (no signal for 26 miles away from here). Any ideas?

  • Convince me that God is real...?

I really do want to believe there's a God...

But my logical side just can't grasp the idea of a nice old man in a robe w/a beard in the sky loving us...

I believe there is much more to life than what we can see or feel...I'm a spiritual person in that aspect. But I'm not religious.

Please don't tell me "the bible says God is real." The bible was written by man.

Can anyone help me out here?

  • My car's CD player acting crazy...please help!?

I have a Pioneer stereo/CD player in my car; it was in the car when I bought it last year. Always worked great until out of nowhere, it has stopped taking CDs...not sure how to explain it but you know how when you are inserting a CD and the player kind of "sucks" it in or "pulls" it in? Well, mine only sucks it in about 2/3 of the way now. Even if I manage to push it the rest of the way in, it won't play. But it ejects w/no problem. I have tried every CD I own (just about) and it does that w/all of them so it's not the CD itself. This is driving me nuts; I rarely listen to the radio and I miss my CDs...any suggestions on how to fix this? Please???

  • Would You Name Your Baby After Someone Important To You, Even If You Hated the Name?

For example, let's say you were really close w/your grandpa and his name was something absolutely horrid. You're now pregnant, and grandpa died a few years ago. You are having a boy, and you want to honor your grandpa, but you HATE his name! It's not only weird, but it is a name that you've NEVER seen anyone else have.

Do you think that just because a person is special to you that they MUST be recognized by naming your child after them (either first or middle name?)

BTW--this is not happening to me personally. My daughter is pregnant, and if it's a boy, they "have" to go w/a particular middle name that is a traditional middle name for all the males in her boyfriend's family for many generations; but she HATES the name. Yet, it's obviously important to her boyfriend to follow his family's tradition.

    What do you think?

  • Kids & Major Dinner Issues!?!?

I have a 17 yr-old son, a 15 yr-old daughter, an 11 yr-old son, & a 10 yr-old stepdaughter. It used to be that whatever my husband & I made for dinner, they were fine w/it. Then that all changed. There are only a few dinners that they ALL like (sorry, we don't run a buffet; this isn't Golden Corral!) Pretty much, the only dinners that ALL the kids will eat are hamburgers, pizza, stir-fry w/egg rolls, fried chicken...that's about it.

We got SO fed up w/cooking & nobody but my husband & I eating, ending up having an @ssload of leftovers (which just end up getting tossed; what a WASTE!) that we just stopped cooking and created "fend for yourself" nights, where we told the kids to find SOMETHING: a sandwich, a TV dinner, even cereal! But here's the problem: if we don't cook, we "suck" for NOT cooking. If we DO cook, nobody eats anyway! We're damned if we do & damned if we don't. We're SICK of this. Anyone have any good kid-friendly dinner ideas? Other than spaghetti? Please HELP us!

  • Another Thing I Just Don't Understand?

There are a neverending supply of idiots who come on here and ask painfully obviously phony questions (I can just see these kids laughing when reading the responses they get, especially when well-intentioned folks take those questions seriously and try to give them an answer.)

I mean NO disrespect whatsoever to anyone who answers these blatantly FAKE questions--they just have good intentions. But I don't see how anyone could believe these far-fetched questions are on the up and up in the first place that they actually answer them seriously! I'm not talking about the poor young girls/guys who have serious sex questions and have plainly had little or no sex ed; I'm referring to the "he spit in my mouth; am I pregnant?" type of questions. People actually ANSWER these questions...with serious answers.

In my opinion, a moronic, phony question deserves nothing more than an equally moronic answer.

Am I the only one who has noticed this?

  • Why Do People Ask for "Honest" Opinions If...?

...they just get all worked up and defensive when people GIVE the honest opinions the asker requested in the FIRST place?

If you aren't prepared to deal with the HONEST answers and/or opinions you've asked for, why bother asking the question at all?

    I just don't understand this.

I can't even count the number of times an asker has stated "all opinions welcome!" yet that same asker gets incredibly defensive when an opinion is stated that the asker doesn't agree with.

If you can't deal with the honest opinions or answers you've asked for, don't ask the question. Or at least let everyone know that only those that agree with you should answer your question.

  • Desperately Seeking Middle Name for a Baby Girl...?

...that isn't ridiculously common, but not so "out-there" that people will go "HUH?!"

Please don't misunderstand: I have NOTHING against the names Anne, Sue, Nicole, or Marie, but they are just so commonly used as middle names, in my opinion, simply because they go with most first names.

My daughter is 18 wks pregnant (we won't even know the sex for 2 more weeks!) They have agreed on Baylee for a first name, but there's some tension over the middle name. Now they are considering Anne but it's not my daughter's 1st choice. Sure, Baylee Anne sounds nice, but it's just so common, and that's the problem she has w/that name.

I've suggested Christine, Jade, Elizabeth, Aleah, Michelle, and even Lynn (in honor of my daughter's deceased father; that was his middle name) but those names have all been vetoed.

I realize I have no say-so over my grandchild's name; I just am searching for ideas to toss out to them that they could agree on.

Thx in advance for ANY suggestions! :-)

  • I Know for a FACT That a Person Has Been/Is Incarcerated in (at least) 3 States, so?

WHY is it that when I attempt to do searches on her (via phone and internet) to find out what the charges are & when the alleged offense(s) took place, I am repeatedly told there's no record of her? (I've only found records in 1 of the 3 states.) I have provided aliases, her DOB, and any other info we have on her.

This is my (thank GOD!) ex-MIL, & my ex-husband (in another state) got a letter from her from a jail in my state. She's a con artist & has been jailed MANY times for everything from possession to DUI to forgery...you name it. She is feeding my ex (what we believe to be) a HUGE b.s. story about why she's in jail (of course, she's "innocent" and it's "all a misunderstanding.") She's asking for his help (read: wants money from him) & we're trying to verify her story, which is obviously a crock (you don't get extradited from one state to another just because you supposedly owe $75 on a beater 1970s van!) Why is there nothing on her if we KNOW she's there/been there?!?

  • Is It Possible to Add a Ticker to my Yahoo! Signature Line?

    And if so, how?

I'm not *completely* illiterate about this kind of thing, but not so literate that if anyone can tell me how to do this, I'd need them to please explain it to me/walk me thru it step by step.

    TIA! :-)
