  • Japanese, asking a question?

I was wondering how do you ask questions in Japanese in the informal form.

So in the formal form "where is the car?" is kuruma wa doko desu ka?

So I wondering how do you ask this question in the informal form, is it "kuruma wa doko da no?"

If not how do you ask questions in the informal form, or does everyone use the formal form of desu when asking a question to anyone (of any age, status, etc.)

    Thank you!

  • About Japanese adjectives?

    Hello everyone.

I was wondering if anyone could help and answer the few questions I have about Japanese adjectives.

    1. Is it true you can drop the "desu" with adjectives that end in "-i", e.g. Ureshii desu (I'm happy), becomes just Ureshii?

Is desu just there to show politeness when talking?

    2. Do you always have to use "na" to connect a "-na" adjective to a noun, e.g.: shizuka na onnanoko (the quiet girl)

Even though "shizuka" and not "shizuke na" is the adjective.

    3. How do you use more than two adjectives to describe a noun, e.g. a big, red car.

Would it be okii akai kuruma? If not how would you say this in Japanese?

    4. Finally could you check these sentences to see whether they're correct or not?

    1. Adjectives ending in "-i" (samui, atsui, utsukushii, akai, etc.)

    a. - the red car - akai kuruma

b- the car is red - kuruma wa akai desu

    2. Adjectives ending in "-na" (kirei na, teinei na, benri na)

    a. the rude boy - shitsurei na otokonoko

    b. the boy is rude - otokonoko wa shitsurei desu

I would be very grateful if you could help me out so I can continue my Japanese studies without any doubts, thank you for your time =)!

  • How many times a week would I have to shave?

    Hi,

I'm 16 and I've been growing this moustache for the past 7 months ( which I dislike, mainly because it makes me look too older) and I've decided enough is enough and that I'm going to start shaving.

So I wondering how many times a week on average would I have to shave?

Also note that the only thing I would be shaving is my moustache because that's where most my facial hair is.

    Finally:

Would it be best to buy a regular shaver or an electric shaver?

    Thank you ^o^

  • Yahoo answers reporting an answer/question?

Ok last week I reported quite a few answers that violated yahoo answers, and these answers/question got deleted straight away yet for some reason the person must've appealed and their answers/question came back, and now when I report an answer/question it seems like nothing happens maybe because I lost a lot of influence, my question is this "After you lose influence can you gain it again or not"?

Because if my reports aren't going to make a difference I don't see any point in reporting those answers/questions anymore.

    Thank you.

  • POLL: Pokemon's natures when battling.?

    Hey guys,

I was wondering what is the nature you normally use for your pokemon when doing competitive battling?:

    1. If your pokemon has a high base special attack do you get a:

    modest/timid natured one?

    2. If your pokemon has a high base attack do you get a:

    adamant/jolly natured one?

    3. Do you choose a speed nature (timid, jolly etc.) over an attack/special attack nature if the pokemon has a base speed of 100+ ?

Thanks for your opinion guys :)

  • What EVs should I give my Pokemon?

Ok so I've got an Escavalier:

    At lv 50 it has:

    HP: 143

    ATK: 205

    DEF: 116

    SP.ATK 65

    SP.DEF 116

    SPEED 55

The only problem is, my Escavalier has 143 EVs in speed, which I accidently trained it in thinking Zebstrikas would give EVs in attack.

So I was wondering what could I do with the 143 EVs?

Should I equally give 71 EVs in defense and 71 EVs in special defense or should I EV train it in HP?

I'ts moves are the following: Megahorn, X-scissor, Iron Head and Sword Dance

    Haxorus:

    At lv 50:

    HP: 152

    ATK: 217

    DEF: 106

    SP.ATK 68

    SP.DEF 86

    SPEED 135

I'ts moves are the following: Outrage, Brick Break, Rock slide, Shadow Claw.

It has 76 EVs in HP, so should I feed it Pomeg berries so it's EVs in HP are 0 then EV train it in speed?

    Finally Chandelure:

    at lv 50:

    HP: 135

    ATK: 60

    DEF: 97

    SP.ATK 213

    SP.DEF 95

    SPEED 101

It's moves are the following: Shadow Ball, Psychic, Inferno, Flamethrower

It has 50 EVs in HP, and 20 in Defense, should I give the EVs to it's speed?

And finally a non-EV related question:

I have a Hyreigon that has 31 IVs in speed and Special attack,

    at lv 50:

    HP: 155

    ATK: 101

    DEF: 106

    SP.ATK 194

    SP.DEF 106

    SPEED 150

Surf, Flamethrower, Dark Pulse, Dragon pulse

    There's only thing I don't understand though.

I bred a pokegen Arbok with 28 IVs in speed with a Deino (mainly because I wanted to pass down the move "Dark pulse" to Deino which I know is cheating this way but the chances of finding someone who'd teach Arbok TM Dark pulse in 4th Gen games is umm 0% due to Arbok's low sp.atk base.

The female Deino had 27 IVs in speed but the offspring (now Hyredigon has 31 IVs in speed) I shouldn't be complaining (and I'm not) but how is this possible, because I heard and offspring has 3 Stat IVs from one parent and 3 Stat IVs from another, and if both don't have 31 IVs in speed how is this possible?

Or were the people who told me just wrong?

Also any move suggestions would be nice.

Thank you so much if you can help me out with all these questions.

  • How did I become Top Contributor?

Ok I'm very grateful and happy that I became Top Contributor this Monday Morning,

but I thought you had to answer loads of questions then they had to be minimum 10% best answer,

you see with me I don't answer polls, surveys or anything that doesn't have normally "one answer to it" if you know what I mean, like if someone asked "where's mount Everest" then there's only one answer to it.

But I was wondering is it rare for someone like me to have "Top Contributor" status whilst only answering 93 questions, and 83% were voted best answer?

Mainly because I see many Top Contributors with 22-40% best answer on their profile.

So I was also wondering how do I keep the status? Do I have to answer a certain amount of questions within a 30 day period?

    Thank you.
