  • Did anyone else notice the logic error on "American Idol" on Thursday night, Feburary 26?

Maybe it's just me and maybe I've missed controversy about it today, but producers of "AI" made an egregious error in logic on Thursday night.

The top male, the top female and the next-highest vote-getter advance to the Top 12. Last night, Allison had already been announced as a finalist when Ryan Seacrest announced that either Kris or Megan had also advanced. Ryan then asked someone on the panel to comment, while several contestants - male and female - had yet to learn their fate.

The tradition of the program has always been to keep the fate of all constestants a mystery until Ryan announces the results. However, had Megan been voted in over Kris, then she would have been the second female, which would have automatically eliminated all of the remaining females that had yet to learn their fate. (There was at least one.) So, logically, Kris HAD to advance.

Because I was thinking of this in real time, it created an awkward and unnecessary situation for Megan, like she was scammed to believe that she might actually advance.

I doubt the producers play it this way next week.

  • Can you suggest specific workbooks I can't find?

An optometrist told me that there are special workbooks with exercises to aid kids who have amblyopia. These workbooks include 3D puzzles and games for preschoolers and kindergarteners. They are not found in my area (in fact, retailers that you'd expect to carry such an animal have no knowledge of them) and I can't find anything online.

Chicagoland is an easy drive for me so I believe these books are within reach.

If you know of what I want, please respond and provide titles. If you can also provide a retailer or etailer, that would be a bonus. Resources do not need to be in Chicagoland.

    Thanks much!

  • Do you know when the 2008 PGA Tour schedule will be released?

Every year, it's released at a different time. Last year, the 2007 schedule was released before the season ended. Of course, there's the issue of modifying the FedEx Cup Playoffs but I haven't even read or heard innuendos of when if might be published. (You know, maybe it's just me, but I could see a 30-minute "live TV" program when it's ready for the public. It could be similar to the NCAA Men's Basketball bracket show that airs live in CBS every year. I wonder if Golf Channel has looked into this.)

  • Ace AND 300 club?

Do you know of a special club or organization that recognizes and/or fetes individuals that have rolled a perfect 300 game in bowling and have carded a hole-in-one? I'm researching this for a buddy who has two aces and finally got his 300 last night. Thanks!

  • Can you suggest a reliable resource that accepts large quantities of outdated printer/toner cartridges?

I have a fair number (~250) of outdated but BRAND NEW printer/toner cartridges. They are overstock from years past and I'd like to resell them if possible. Worst case, I'll recycle/trash them. Thanks.

  • Is this a rules issue or other ...?

When a MLB starting pitcher is struggling early in a game but isn't yanked, why doesn't he go to the bullpen to work on whatever is bothering him while his team is batting? Hitters can use the cages in the tunnel if they're there but you only usually see pitchers talking about it with pitching coaches and maybe the catcher, never actually acting it out with live action. Why not?

  • Why is there a pronunciation difference between the first names of Daisuke Maruyama and Daisuke Matsuzaka?

Maruyama is a PGA Tour member and pronounces his name, "die-SUE-kay." Meanwhile, I hear every media outlet pronouncing the first name of Matsuzaka of the Boston Red Sox, "DICE-kay." They're both from Japan and their names are spelled identically. Please cite your source. No anecdotal evidence please. Thanks.
