Why is there a pronunciation difference between the first names of Daisuke Maruyama and Daisuke Matsuzaka?

Daisuke is composed of the japanese letters "da-i-su-ke". If you say it slowly and pronounce every syllable, it will come out sounding how Maruyama pronounces it. Some japanese words sound different depending on the regional dialect or talking speed/syllable emphasisthe. Lots of Japanese people will omit the "u" sound in Daisuke, so it comes out like daiske/dice-kay.

This works with other japanese names like Kensuke. It can sound like "ken-su-ke" or kenske/kens-kay.

I be live that the "u" is silent in Japanese....an old friend, once told me that......someone, probably went out of their way when Matsuzaka first came over to ask him the correct pronunciation and it stuck....I do believe, I am correct and the "u" should be silent.....news people, announcers never really make en effort to learn the correct pronunciation of foreign names.......on the Yankees Robinson Cano's last name is not "canoe" or "caNO"...is should be "KAA-NO".....Sidney Ponson(pitcher) is not "Paan-soan".....it should be "Pone(like bone)..son"......."Paan-soan" comes out meaning "fat-so" in Spanish!!!....rambled, from your question, hope the initial part of my answer help....I am Spanish speaking and find it irritating that someone does not take time to get the correct prounciation!....often, times it might provide a cute "pun" for use!
