Toyota truck driveline vibration?
Hello,
I drive a 1994 Toyota base pickup. 4 cyl, 5 speed, regular cab, 2WD. It has a (more audible than felt) loud vibration. Only does it when I am driving in 4th gear (under load- not coasting) @ 50 mph. I shift into 5th gear and press down about 1/2 way on gas pedal and I get a loud vibration. once I get to 55 or 60 the vibration goes away. It also sometimes happens when I decelerate. Its not in the motor, because when i press in clutch pedal the vibration stops. Sounds like its being amplified by drive shaft. Funny thing is that my truck drives smoothly.
My mechanic put my truck up on the rack (I wasn't there to see anything) and said that he saw the rear pinion bearing had (up and down) "play". He said the reason it only vibrates sometimes is (because the bearing has "up and down") play that when I press the clutch pedal (taking the load off the bearing) that allows the "play" in the bearing to go "all over the place" and then when I let off clutch pedal the load is put on a bearing that is "going all over the place" and that the bearing has to (for lack of a better word) "re balance". So, the vibration is when the bearing is "re balancing".
If it was a bad (grinding) pinion bearing, I would think the it would be more a grinding sound that would happen the whole time that the drive shaft is rotating.
Does this make any sense?

3 AnswersToyota8 years agoToyota pickup rattling noise?
Hello,
I drive a 94 Toyota pickup. 4cyl, 5spd, 2wd. When I am riding down the road in too of high gear (for what speed I am going, example: 40 mph in 5th gear) and step on the gas, I get a vibration noise ( from my clutch area and no acceleration (to speak of) . Doesn't feel like truck is straining. When I am going 40 in 3rd and step on the gas, I get no vibration and accelerates good. I realize that the truck will accelerate better in lower gears, but is the vibration noise normal? I was told it could be the throwout bearing and this is normal

3 AnswersToyota8 years ago1994 toyota pickup with 22re?
hello,
I drive a 1994 Toyota pickup with a 22re.Scenario: Noticed that engine makes a detonation (pinging) "like" noise under (the slightest) load on flat road. So, on the next tank of gas I filled up with 93 octane and poured in some lucas octane boost (which brought me up to about 96 octane).Took for another ride. Same thing. So, then (with 93 octane-no octane boost) I retarded the ignition to the point where I could notice a decrease in performance. Still makes noise. Always under load. When truck is idling there is no noise. Rev up while idling, no noise. So, I (think) I have ruled out detonation. Could it be an (slight)exhaust leak? My experience with exhaust leaks is they always sounded like a stock car (with straight pipes).
I am at my wits end. Help!

3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years agoA have a legal question about blackmail?
I live in the state of Florida. few months ago I did a small job(I am an electrical contractor) for someone.I texted him that I would be willing to barter for "something green" (Where I had just moved from that was a way of asking to be paid under the table-prove otherwise).Well, he took "something green" as meaning marijuana.I invoiced him (via email). He replied (to the email) that he would be willing to pay me, but if he didnt pay for the job that he would have no grounds to complain (to the dbpr) about me asking to to be paid in marijuana.he then stated that it was up to me wether or not I wanted to get paid (or not).I emailed him back, "forget it" (under duress).I have all this in writing (emails).
I never said or texted a thing about marijauana.there are alot of things in this world that are green.Mj comes in different colors.
Would this be considered blackmail? could I get in any trouble with the DBPR or law enforcement for "something green".

1 AnswerToyota9 years agoEthanol in gas causing pinging?
Hello, I drive a 1994 toyota truck with a 22re engine.I had my ignition timing set the other day.I now hear slight pinging (93 octane) under large load(5th gear w/slight hill).I was told that nowadays that the ethanol in gas will cause pinging.Using octane boost helps, but expensive.I was told that I could go to any boat supply/marina and get an "ethanol negator".any input would be greatly appreciated
