  • Cirrhosis and Expected Death?

My husband was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, years ago. The initial prognosis was 3-5 years. Now he has advanced to end stage liver disease. He has acsites, and occasional bouts with hepatic encephalopathy. He is taking lactulose, propanolol, b1, spirolacton, furosimide for treatment.

The acsites has gotten uncontrollable with the diuretics, and he has been having to have the paracentesis regularly to remove the acsites. HOwever, they can never remove all of it. The estimate is he has between 15-20 liters built up at any given time, the most they will remove is 5 liters, for other reasons.

He sleeps most of the time, he is bed ridden for the most part, he is in constant pain.

In November he was in the hospital 2 times, for about a week each time. He has been admitted 3 times this month. He has gone down hill rapidly since November. I think he is getting close to the end, but do not know what to expect nor when to expect it.

I know there is no definitive way to determine how much time he has left. I just wonder from a medical stand point, or from personal experience...what your best guess is based on the information provided.

I am his primary caregiver, and he is not willing to look into hospice. So i need to know what to watch for. I take him to the er when he gets so bloated he can't breath. He wont allow me to take him before then.

  • God created man in his image then where is woman from?

Ok So god creates man. Then made woman to be his companion...where did the image of woman come from.

What I am getting to is this....

Why is there no Goddess? There is a male and female of every thing. Every animal, plant...every being has a female and male counterpart. So if there is no goddess are we to believe that god is up there all alone? Without a lover, a confidant, a counterpart? It doesn't make sense to me how a singular god could make an entire world of plurals, and not have that relationship of his own to base such a world upon.

Can you explain it to me?

I am a former or reformed Christian, depending on your views.

  • Why are you a parent?

What made you decide to become a parent? Did you get surprised and were ok with it? Did you try? What about being a parent made you want to do the job?

My first was a surprise. I always knew I wanted kids, just not the way it happened. I was scared and surprised, and was like well I did what it took to get tis way I will do what it takes to be a mom. My next two were planned. I love kids. I like being needed, teaching them all I can, watching them become the people they will be. I like to play like a child. I like loving someone so much I would die for them. I like the love they give in return. I like popping down and watching kids movies. I love everything about being a mom.

  • Longhorn Cattle Ranch question.......?

Ok I'm looking into startin a SMALL cattle ranch on 32 acres. I live near Abilene, Tx, where its kinda dessert like. The land is sandy, with a large tank on it (2.5 acres about) and it has vegetation. Some cactus, grass spurs, and A LOT of oak trees. I am going to clear a large portion of the land and seed it with bermuda grass. Bermuda because its hardy and groes well in sandy soil, plus cows tend to like it.

I know longhorns can and will eat a lot of what's on the land now, and are more durable than other breeds as far as surviving tough conditions like drought, and eating very odd vegetation. I just want to be sure I do not have to spend TONS of $$ on supplemental grain and hay. And I of course, first and foremost, want healthy cattle.

I have heard a range of acceptable AU per acre, from 1 per 2 acres to 2 per 1 acre. To me that's a big difference. SO, with that being said what's your opinion?

  • Lady Gaga Concert Information?

My daughter listens to lady gaga. She is going to be in our town for her 13th birthday. My daughter wants to go to her concert. I do not know anything about her concerts and how appropriate they would be for a 13 year old. Anyone with experience at a lady gaga concert or opinions on her show...information would be helpful

The concert is going to be at an indoor theater with a nonsmoking ordinance, so i am not worried about people being there smoking lefty's or anything. I will be going with her, so she wont go alone. I just do not want to buy tickets and then have to leave because the concert is too much for a 13 year old.

  • Parents, how to handle a step-parent, as a parent?

My oldest daughters step mom often over steps her bounds. Usually its little things so I let it slide. I normally would say whatever because of my kids feelings toward the whole family, and that's is always first.

Well this time it was something a little hurtful, to me. She took my daughter to buy her first make-up. That, in my opinion, is something special a mom and daughter do together.

I was so upset. I know it may seem little, but that's like a rite of passage or something.

Now the witch is trying to tell her how to apply it. Which the problem there is she herself doesn't wear good makeup. It old outdated and just generally for an adult! I mean for godsake she bought a 12 year old full face foundation!!!

Ok so what do I do?

I am so angry about this that she would have the nerve. She isn't a young girl who doesn't know better she is older than me!

  • Parents, what do you let?

Your kids cook? If yes, what kinds of things? Do they do the measuring or you? Do you let them lick spoons, bowls and beaters (obviously not while still plugged in)? Finally what ages are the kids you let cook?

I have begun letting my kids cook baked goods. Cakes, cheesecakes, cookies, and soon pies. They also help cook scrambled eggs, pancakes and they can help bread and season the meats for dinner. They can't do any frying, for obvious reasons, and nothing the splatters or boils. I'm affraid they'll tip it over and boil or fry themselves. They are always allowed to lick the utensils because 40 mintues is a long time to wait for a kid. And they make such a mess but its fun and worth the cleaning effort. As for measuring, I give them the right cup and they scoop and pout the ingredients. My kids are 4 and 2. The 12 year old cooks also, but more stuff.

We all have a good time cooking! Its fun for all. Especially them.

  • Childrens sports or activities...any ideas?

Oh my goodness. Summer is over and our days at the beach have ended. No more surfing, boogie boarding, sand castles, playing in the water. No what? My kids are so totally and completely bored at home. What are some sports or activities that young boy (4) can enjoy?

City sports in my area are for kids 5 and older. I have looked into Karate but the place closest us the lady said "they mostly run around" well hell I could set the wildebeast free at the park for that for free!

So now I'm asking for ideas from others who have young kids, who enjoy a lost or forgotten sport, who have any ideas. Please give me some, I can feel my hair turning grey as we speak! (That's a sarcastic joke).

  • Parents have you EVER?

    hidden or ignored your child?

Today was a bad day for me. So I told the hubby I was going to my room for some peace and quiet for a few minutes. I snuck off without the kids seeing and didn't answer when they called me.

Who else has done similar to get some peace and quiet?

  • Parents what are some activities?

your children participate in? Not school sports, but outside of school? I am trying to find something for my 4 year old son to get involved in. I have considered baseball, football, soccer all through the city, but he is not old enough for them. They begin at 5 or 6.

I have looked into karate also. I know I'm missing some great ideas so I thought I'd ask for your input and ideas. Thanks!

  • Homeschool Classroom?

I am going to begin I guess what would be my sons formal education, through homeschooling.

I have a pretty good idea of what he is wanting to learn and my expectations. Now I realize that expectations are not set in stone, and I may under or over estimate our situation. I will follow his lead, and hopefully he will follow my direction!

My question, is more specifically toward gear and supplies.

What do you think are necessities for creating an enriching and exciting home class? What secrets, tips, ideas did you implement into your learning environment?

  • Parents, how did you know.....?

Your child didn't need to take naps anymore?

My son is 4 1/2 and he has been getting to where he falls asleep later and later. Then he doesn't sleep as long either. It is becoming a struggle to get him to take naps.

I feel he still needs them because he gets quite unruley without one sometimes, although not always.
