  • why desire?

when one desires, that one trains own thoughts to bring pleasure upon fulfillment of the desire or sadness upon unfulfillment.

among all the many desires, those not fulfilled are well more often than those fulfilled. why then do people doom themselves to sadness? why not the people train their thoughts happiness without option for sadness, without desire, for a happy person can do things better and help those around?

  • why suffer?

why does not a pine tree ever tends to kill itself, yet strive for survival, while humans often do go suicidal?

why does not a boulder on a sidewalk ever cry if kicked?

why do many people who declare the will to be happy harm themselves, hence walk farther from the goal?

  • what do you know about buddhism?

this more is a poll to see what general information people here have on buddhism. please share your understanding of buddhism but in your own plain words, not involving the 4 truths and eightfold path. please make it short if possible.

answers like 'buddha is from satan. come to god/allah' are not welcome. this question is about what you know, not what you believe.

    thank you.

  • all is one?

who are the most respected practitioners of particular religions, or say respected atheists? elder monks, clergy, elders, wise men. remember how say an old respected christian monk acts? no haste movements, calm quiet talking, words of consolation and ways to achieve peace, help others. one generally feels better after this kind of conversation. it is because the person is willing to help and is skilled at this. take an islamic widely respected elder. words are different, yet result is pretty the same - consolation and help. take a respected wise man, say a phycologyst, or a respected buddhist monk (buddhists are atheists either) - all the same. same calm warm attitude, same willingness to help, though words are different.

all these respected people achieve on this earth same goal, though in different ways. while goal is achieved, why would actual path matter? be at peace, for we have no ground to argue and through argue we are distracted from the path, which leads us to one same goal
