  • How do you feel about the "RANK QUESTION"?

Do you feel that it is impolite for people to ask your rank?

Some do, I myself do not. Because i hold so many different ranks in different martial arts I do not show chevrons on my belt. I only have my name on the left side to show what name I want to be called for people that dont know me. So what are your thoughts on the the big What is your Rank Question?

  • Medical records and martial arts sparring?

Thank god this has never happened BUT there is always a chance for the spread of sickness, illness or spreadable disease at open/closed tournaments and even the chance of free sparring in class. Do you think it would be a good idea for a pre register for tournaments with copy of recent medical records. I know there is a huge spread of staph infection in jiujitsu but what about the air born illnesses or open cuts and blood born, that even the other instructors don't know about their students?

  • Martial arts MENTORS / IDOLS?

this is a question to kida break the ice and find out a little about everybody and their background.

Who was your Mentor / Idol or who was the one that inspired you to get into martial arts

this can be anyone you want to talk about, from favorite kung fu actor to the instructor that trained you,or were you wanting to be a samurai/ninja there will be no wrong answers i just want to hear a little bit of what or WHO got you into Martial arts. Even if it was your father that made you take class because you were getting picked on in school, tell me all about it. just tell me more aout the person instead of the reason.

  • Martial Arts = Religion ?

What is going on in the world today, I actually had a mother come in and pull her son out of a class that he had been training hard in for the last 4 months, Because Her preacher told her that Martial arts was based on a cult religion. I had seen where there was a stir a few weeks ago about Yoga and now its trickling down to us. So i want to know what you think.. this is not a yes or no question, I wanted to get the word out and get your input back on it.

Do you believe that Martial arts is some kind of religious cult?

I will not tell the relegion of the preacher because i do not want to offend that particular denomination of one bad apple, But i do live in North East Arkansas if you can imagine "bible belt"

  • Has anyone ever heard of Grand Master Harding, Choong Sil / CTF?

Around Here His name is synonymous with great martial arts in the TKD world, Im just wandering if anyone else has heard of him or his organization (CTF) and what they think of him from an outside opinion. Our school has been approached by him and some of his Members to join his organization and i was wanting more insight before we make such a crucial merge.

  • Spiritual aspect of Martial Arts?

I myself have had the privilege of studying 2 styles of Hapkido. One being Sin Moo and the other being the more militant Combat Hapkido (Peligrini's)

What are your thoughts on the Spiritual side of Martial arts, and if you take the spiritual side out does that take away from the Artistic views of the style?

Can it still be Artistic if there is no spiritual bonding or is just considered Self defense.

Let me know what you think????

  • Lets talk " Dillman"?

I know his no touch knock out is for the most part a lot of nonsense, but what about the rest of his martial arts. Was he one of the best martial artist in the world at one time like i have been reading and does everything else that he teaches(other than no touch KO) hold its own as a very good style?

Please don't be biased because he's in it to make money, I want to know if his style is actually any good and if his books are worth reading or are they based on "crap".

I only ask because i hav been looking at how closely related Hapkido and Wally Jays small circle jujitsu are, and I keep seeing alot of Dillman coming into the picture. I know that wally Jay is very acredited but im not to sure about his sone or this Dillman guy.

  • Belt ranking chevrons /stripes?

am i wrong for just not carring if i put my stripes on my belt i know what degree /dan i am and my raggedy and tattered old belt should speak for its self. Do i really need to put on the extra chevrons to parade like a fancy peacock. to me all I should need is my Mccullar on the left so people know my name when approached isnt it.

but honestly I leave the stripes off just to make people ask "well what degree are you?" all i can say is "in wich art?"

I just thought this would be a funny quest for you guys that have been around for a while... lol

  • small circle jiujitsu compared to Hapkido?

I have been practicing Hapkido for several years now both traditionally and combat style, and what i want to know is what are the simalariteis and differences of small cirlce jiujitsu and Hapkido? From what I have looked at in Wally jays book they are all most the same martial art. If im wrong please explain why but everything that i have been taught from my Hapkido looks identical to the way that wally jay explains his small circle jiujitsu.

  • Honda CRF 70 clutch problems?

has anyone ever had a problem with an automaitc 3 gear clutch on the Honda crf 70 (or 50). my sons is acting up. I have to really give the gas for it to go into 1st gear and then it slips into 3rd passing 2nd gear and after its in 3rd gear it really has a problem down shifting. you can keep pressing the shifter and it might go into the next gear and it might not. I called the honda place and all they would tell me on the fone was to check and make sure the oil was full "and it was" so im just wondering if anybody else has had this happen and do i need a new clutch or is it something simple inside.

  • Cross train ? or One art at a Time ?

I myself am a one art at a time kinda guy. The only time I even consider my self cross training is when my instructor wants to incorporate a move from one of his various styles into the art Im learning, but that's usually just one move at a time where it seems to fit. I try to devote myself into learning one art at a time so as not to get confused because I "train to teach" being a fellow instructor here at out school I don't want to get different styles mixed up for the sake of the children who are interested in one style or another. Just makes it easier for me

So Are you a Cross trainer or are you a One art at a time person???

  • WHY take a second Martial Art ??????????????????????

I know a few like myself have trained in different martial arts for one reason or another and that's what I want to hear about, WHY did you go from your first MA to try another. I started kung fu when I was 8 and not long after that my family had moved so I had to make the switch to one of the only styles available witch was chung do kwan TKD this was a great school, but, this style offered only your basic grabs, throws and submissions and thats what I got interested in, so I moved on to Hapkido. I never stopped training in TKD but my main focus now is the Hapkido. I love its deadly accuracy and its hard and soft tactics. I have decided to try my hand at Kempo because of its fast hands and trapping techniques and I also like the chinese influence I see in its forms. So this is basically this more conversation than question. Tell me what turned you on to you second or even the possibilty of taking a second martial art in the future.

  • Do you say MR. MS or MRS. at black belt?

I have a respect question????? I know in our Dojang and several others that i have trained with down through the years, At black belt we have always called the black belts and higher by Mr. Ms. or Mrs and thier last name out of respect for rank. Do you do this at your dojo/dojang or school /academy??? the reason for this question is that i was recently at an open tournament and a Kempo "Master" had walked out on the floor while i was judgeing and called Kris, I thought nothing of untill I had called hime by his first name and he sharply corrected me by saying "thats Master L^^" and so I sharply back replied "well then its MR. Mc^^^^^^ ".. He informed me that in his style they didnt recognizethe fact of calling MR at black belt. so I replied to him then I dont recognize you being a master. I know this sounds childish but dont you think that respect is deserved not only by you but also from you. So abck to the question at hand? Do you say Mr at Black belt??? and if not why not? There should be respect for those who have trained hard.

  • Do you have problems ordering through "Century" Martial arts catalog?

Is it just me or does anyone else have the same problems I do when ordering though Century. I mean if I order belts for students they come in the wrong colors or sizes same with uniforms. and it seems like its always on back order or they only send half of what i order. It looks like for the place to be so over priced that is should be alble to get my orders right. Oh yeah and the last time i ordered weapons the lighted commas / chuks didnt even work. and the Shipping is so high I cant afford to make any money off the product itself.

Have you encountered any problems like this???

What Martial arts distributer do you use and why???
