Just a quick little poll to (hopefully) prove my friend wrong.

So, I've decided to check my registry on my laptop after having it for a few months and decided to use RegCure to clean the registry. Yet, lo and behold, there were over 10,000 errors in the registry. Appropriately, my reaction was, "WTF? My computer's screwed. Great". I only use my laptop for internet, e-mail, word processing and programming, and I don't have too many programs on there that I've installed then uninstalled. Maybe hyper-malicious malware that my anti-virus/spyware didn't detect?.........

Ok, I am looking at a variety of different laptops and having a hard time finding the perfect one and see if anyone has any recommendations. My budget is 1000 bucks, and I'm looking for a reliable laptop that will last several years suitable for a computer engineering major and enough video card power to run games such as Doom 3 smoothly. Any recommendations?

ok, i have an .avi movie that i ripped off a dvd, but i tried a couple of times to convert it to an mpeg-4 file, but after conversion the image gets squished, because the .avi is widescreen and it gets converted to fullscreen. is there any way to convert to mpeg-4 widescreen, or are there any other file formats that support widescreen? (am using magic video converter software)

is it possible to install ubuntu by mounting the iso image? i don't have a cd-r handy and i don't have time to go buy some but i really want to get ubuntu on my computer right now.

ok, so I am reformatting a hp pavillion notebook for a second time and it came with a little sheet that told me how to reformat it without a cd and without losing any information and it worked. thing is, I can't find that little sheet and the laptop's gone totally whacko on me. anyone know how this method works so i can do it again?

...k, so my computer decided to go whacko on me; let me explain the situation. I have a 17" widescreen HP Pavillion notebook, and when I load one of the four accounts (doesn't matter which one) it loads up everything except the desktop, and if I try anything in the start menu it just freezes. I'm thinking reformat, but is there any other options? It works in safe mode, by the way.

...yeah I have an audition in March I'm preparing for and I have everything covered except I need a contemporary piece (needs to be a composer whose death date was in the past 50 years), but I'm looking for a piece in particular that's very low range, very percussive and very, very hard hitting and aggressive, something that would raise an eyebrow or two. Any suggestions?.....

....so, in my small school of about 100 students (no lie) I am the only "metal head" in the whole school, and everyone likes regular rock, rap and pop. And the thing is, I hate the afore mentioned genres. And no one else appreciates the hard, brutal beauty of metal music. Any way I can desensitize them to it?

yeah so I was working on an implicit differentiation problem and when I thought that I found the derivatives I totally screwed up on applying a combination of the product rule and the quotient rule and about 5 minutes and one whole page of work just became suddenly insignificant.
