An epic story about Elmo, a lone wanderer in a nuclear post-apocalyptic Sesame Street, salvaging spare parts from the rubble to construct a Mega-Ship to fly to a safer place. Along the way Elmo passes by a small refrigerator. He cautiously opens the door to reveala small cat. As he looks closer which he sees it is a small black cat with three eyes. He takes the cat out, and decides he will keep it to help him. He names him Lex. He travels with Lex fighting off mutant-sesame street characters, such as Cookie Monster AKA The Incredible Bulk, and Oscar, the puppet who has been mutated into a half-puppet, half trash monster, picking up spare parts for his ship. Lex is used as a spare-part-detector, because he has a sharp nose for radiation-clean objects. Their quest is to reach the Laboratory, a building which contains the rocket fuel he needs for is ship. At the Laboratory, he encounters thousands of very small Big Birds, (the irony) who have very sharp beaks and try and kill him. once he has aqquired the rocket fuel, he runs back to the ship, and turns around just in time to see Lex getting ripped apart by several small Big Birds.His attempts to save him are in vain, as thousands of small Big Birds rush at him. He makes it back to the ship just in time to see Lex get reincarnatedas a mutant-zombie-cat, and grow three times the save of the Mega-Ship. Lex then starts breathing out pure propane, which Elmo's ship computer detects. Elmo is faced with a problem. If he starts the engines, there is a possiblity the rocket blast would ignite the propane, and explode. He has no options but to exit the ship, and destroy Lex before he releases more propane. An epic battle ensues, In which Elmo ends up climbing Lex's body, and stabs him in his third eye. Elmo is too late, the propane has filled the air. Elmo tries to wait it out, waiting for the propane to scatter and disappear, however, as he is sitting down on a rock, he sees, on the horizon, tens of thousands of Small Big Birds, rushing towards his ship. He runs to the ship, closing the door just as the thud of the creatures hitting the ship rings through his ears. The Small Big Birds crash into the ship, slowly tipping it slightly to the side, and this is when Elmo is faced with his most difficult desicion yet, start the ship before it tumbles to the ground, or try and face the Small Big Birds, and restarting the process of setting up the ship for launch. Elmo decides to start the ship, and time slows down as he turns the key. A white flash is seen, and then the book ends.
