  • How long should my sons party be?

He's turning 6 and wants to have a sleep over. I'll allow five friends overnight. What I'm really asking about is the pre-party. We're going to do a party prior to the overnighter with 5 more friends (11 total) which includes the pizza making, games, and cake. How long should the pre-party last?

  • How do non-profit work?

I'm just starting to learn about non-profit orgs. So they don't make money, but leftover money goes to the cause.

So people work for them and get paid? It's not all volunteer?

And donations made to them are a tax write off?

  • What are some science fiction/fantasy games for children under 6?

A group of friends get together on a monthly basis to watch sci-fi/fantasy movies and potluck. We hang out, but we all have young kids and we're looking for new ideas to keep them involved and since even the food is themed, we are looking for themed games for the kids.

  • Bus riding boredom for Pre-K?

My son has a 50 min. ride to and from school. This is the only negative to him going (besides my attachment issues).

Does anyone have any ideas for activities a 4 year can do on a bus. He can't eat on the bus. I sent in a laminated car bingo card and a cranyon and an I spy picture book. That will get old soon. And he's learning how to draw on steamy windows, too...

    But any ideas?

  • Environmental book study group-questions?

Backgroud: I just joined a book study group in my town. The book is called "The

Natural Step for Communities-How Cities and Towns can Change to

Sustainable Practices" by Sarah James and Torbjorn Lahti.

We read two chapters and meet once a week to discuss. People take

turns doing presentations. This book is incredible. A lot of info covered and mixed with discussing the Earth with these intelligent people, it's fuel for change.

    ????

-Has anyone read the book or done a study group with the book?

-My chapter is about Self-Sufficient communities. In what specific/unique ways are your communities self-sufficient? (Self-sufficient-To keep a community from being vulnerable to crisis, they must be able to manage food, water, affordable housing, jobs, goods and services, energy and mobility themselves)
