  • Looking at a house that the previous owner died in?

Would it bother you if you really liked a house but the previous owner died in it? The previous owner died unexpectedly of a heart problem and she was really young. As far as I know she was taken to the hospital right away but technically died in the house.

  • Neighbor is using common area as his personal storage....?

My downstairs neighbor (in a duplex) is a bit of a hoarder. It seems he is trying to bring as much of the outside, into his apartment and into the shared front porch of the house. He has sticks, rocks, and some sort of round nuts that have fallen from a tree down the street. It looks terrible. He has almost his entire side of the entryway filled up and now he's starting to put stuff on my side. It's least of all annoying but also a tripping hazard and it attracts vermin. Are there any laws\regulations that can prevent him from doing this? The landlord knows this is happening but the neighbor has lived there for 20+ years and has a difficult personality. I think he is just trying to keep the peace but it's getting to be a little ridiculous. He has been decorating for holidays in the space just outside my door also. I don't celebrate holidays. I don't consider the space to be mine so I haven't said anything but I don't think he should be taking such liberty.

  • Is it okay to leave a cat in the car and run errands?

I have to take my cat for a routine checkup at the vet and run a couple errands. It is a high of 56 degrees out today so it won't be really warm or too cold either.

  • Is there a product for adding betta to a community tank within a container?

I want to put my betta in my community tank but since I also have a dwarf gourami, I'd like to keep it in a permanent enclosure inside the tank. I'd prefer one that could suction to the side of the tank so the betta can reach the top of the water and also one that has holes for filtering water through it. Is there anything available like that?

  • Why do so many people have cancer?

A number of people I know right now have recently been diagnosed with cancer. I was just wondering if anyone else is noticing an increasing number of people suffering from the disease.

  • Do cats lose hunting instinct after living indoors?

This is basically just out of curiosity to see what people think. I've had my cat 13 months now. She was formerly a stray and she lived at a shelter until I adopted her. She is a little over 2 years old now so she has spent a good half of her life with me as an indoor cat. When I first had her she would go nuts chasing any bugs or spiders that were in the apartment. Yesterday, I saw her standing in the hallway with a bug crawling right by her. She did not seem to care at all. I pointed it out to her and she followed it for a bit but still just let it crawl all over. Has she mellowed out because she knows I will feed her? What do you think?

  • Does diet affect hairballs?

My cat has just turned 2 years old. Recently, she has been having a lot of hairball issues. She hacks one up every couple of days and coughs and wheezes a lot of the time. She is somewhat overweight so I have to be careful what I feed her and how much so I switched her from Natural Balance to Chicken Soup light. Since then her hairball issue has gotten progressively worse. I put that greasy stuff in her wet food that is supposed to help. I think it is called laxatone or something like that. I also grew some grass in a little container and give her hairball control treats. She hates the treats though. She is shorthair and kind of independent so its hard to brush her but I can do it if she's hungry. Just wondering if anyone has any tips for this problem.

  • I would like to add bottom dwelling fish...?

I have a 27 gallon community tank stocked with these fish:

    5 harlequin rasboras

2 fancy guppies (both male - no babies)

    1 albino pleco

    1 balloon molly

    1 dwarf gourami

All of these fish seem to like the mid to top level of the tank. I'd like to add something (maybe a school of tetras) that likes to inhabit the lower part of the tank. The tank is cycled and the PH is 7.6.

    What would you add?

  • 27 gallon aquarium needs one more fish...?

    Hi-

I have almost fully stocked my aquarium with:

    6 harlequin rasboras

    2 fancy guppies (both male)

    1 butterfly balloon molly

    1 albino bristlenose pleco

I want to add one more that will be kind of a centerpiece. I'm thinking dwarf gourami but let me know if you have any other suggestions.

  • Mouth\jaw disorders of harlequin rasboras?

My harlequins keep dying from some sort of a mouth issue. For the most part it looks like their mouth is stuck open but it must be a disease because it keeps happening and only the rasboras are affected. I also have a bristlenose pleco and 2 guppies in the tank who are perfectly fine. What could it be?

  • What kind of fish is this?

I went to the LFS and the guy sold me this fish to clean the algae out of the aquarium. He said it is a plecostomus that only grows up to 4 inches. It is orange in color and pretty tiny right now - maybe an inch. I was wondering what the actual name for it is so I can lookup information about it.

  • Ammonia high, Nitrite 0, Nitrate growing...?

I have had my tank fishless cycling for almost a month. I added ammonia on the first day I set it up. I possibly added too much. A couple weeks in I had high ammonia and high nitrite. For the past week or so I've had ammonia at a steady 1.0 ppm and 0 nitrite and I can't remember the exact reading for nitrate but it was fairly high. I did a 50% water change. Ammonia is still present and the reading keep coming out with high ammonia, 0 nitrite and an increasing amount of nitrate. What's up with the ammonia level? Will it ever cycle out?

  • Would this combination of fish work in a 27 gallon tank?

-1 or 2 german blue ram - probably just one

-a school of cardinal tetras, there is one neon and one glowlight tetra (survivors of their schools) with that school but they all seem to school together and get along well

    -2 guppies

-a school of harlequin rasboras or a school bleeding heart tetras

    -a balloon molly

-some sort of bottom feeder fish - please reccommend one

Right now I have the cardinal tetra, glowlight tetra, neon tetra and guppies in a smaller tank so they'll be moved and anything else should be compatible with them.

    Advice?

  • Looking for ideas. What would you do with a 27 gallon?

I found a new tank at Petsmart. It is a 27 gallon cube with LED lighting by Marineland. I thought it would look awesome in my living room.

I currently have some neons and guppies in a smaller tank that I'd like to move over to this one when it becomes well enough established. Other than that I'm open to suggestions as to what I should do with this tank. Anybody have any stocking or decor ideas?

  • Can someone explain TV tuner cards to me or recommend one for an HTPC build?

I'm working on an HTPC build. I'm hoping to have it function as a DVR, however, I just don't understand how to go about choosing the best tv tuner card for this. I have standard cable with a set top box and I understand there are cards that can also control one of those and that is what I'd like my HTPC to be able to record. If need be, I believe it will work to just run the coax straight into the computer via the tuner card but I'm not sure if that is analog or digital cable. If anyone can offer advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Cat food math question: Does my cat eat too much?

Here's a math question I have. I'm trying to figure out how much Ellie eats free choice. Normally I give her 1/2 cup dry food a day. With her little auto feeder I put about a pound and a half in it 8 days ago. If my math is correct a pound and a half is 24 oz. I'd say she has eaten most of that in a week though there is still plenty left. So going with the 24 oz for simplicity sake- did she eat too much? That means she would average 3.5 oz a day. Doesn't seem like much but I don't know how to equate it to cups.

  • Is it time to euthanize my betta?

He has been sick for a long time, actually he was never really healthy. He came from walmart. I've had him in a 5 gallon heated, filtered tank and I believe he has fin rot and body rot. He has been lethargic for a week or so. He will eat but spits out food.Tried medicating and nothing has really helped.
