Dropping my double major?
I am currently majoring in criminal justice, and history, in my last semester. My final history class is a massive research project, which I am currently extremely far behind on and don't think I can pass. I plan on getting a job as a Police officer, so my question is; will any employers even care if I have a history major? I have completed the requirements for a history MINOR, so I'll still have that, but will any police department really care about having a history major as well? It seems kind of stupid to drop my last class I need, but I'd need another semester to graduate and I just don't know if it's worth it.
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoTo all "Agnostics" :?
Agnostic: "A person who denies or doubts the possibility of ultimate knowledge in some area of study."
I have no issue with being an agnostic, I am one my self. However saying that one cannot "know" if there is, or is not, a god does not excuse you from having an opinion one way or the other. So to you Agnostics out there, what is your opinion? And if you do not know if there is a god, do you try to live morally just in case, or do what you want and hope there won't be any punishment in the afterlife?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDecline of religion in the US?
Ok, first of all lets not turn this into a fight. I am not saying whether I think this is good or bad, I'm just noticing a trend. In general, the number of religious people in the United States, among other countries, is decreasing. When(what year) do you think that those who consider themselves religious will be a minority in the US? Personally I think it will be in the not too distant future, sometime in the 2020's perhaps?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAlternative to COD 5?
I played COD UO for over 1,500 hours and loved it, I liked 2 and 4 progressively less, but I still played them. COD 5 however is just garbage. I have tried to play it many times and I just hate it. My question is, what other good multiplayer FPS games are out now for the PC? I've tried TF2, it seems pretty fun but not great. Or, is anyone still playing United offensive? I would reinstall if there was some good servers still around. Ideas?
7 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoWhat did I break when I jumpstarted my car wrong?
Alright I hesitate to ask on here because so many people answer questions when they really have no idea what they're talking about, but here goes. I was jump-starting my car and hooked up the terminals wrong (black to my red, red to my black). I didn't notice at first until there was a small fire about 2 feet to the right of my battery. I looked over there and there was a wire that burnt and is no longer connected. On either side of where the wire burnt there was a small box attached to the wire, my friend said it might be a built in fuse designed to burn out to save the rest of my car from frying. I spliced the wire back together but the car still will not start with a jump. The lights in the car and the radio will go on, but it wont start the engine. So I thought the fuses(assuming that's what they were) were fried, so i cut them off and attached the wires w/o them. If they were the only problem, cutting them off should have bypassed the fuse but still no dice. I've got no more ideas, and i'm low on money so i'm trying to avoid taking it to a repair shop. If anyone has any (useful) ideas i'd really appreciate them.
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhat kind of Exotic pet to get?
Ok I finally got out of my apartment and bought a house :), i've wanted a pet for years but couldn't have one due to being in an apartment (except for mice and gerbils). Anyway I am looking for an exotic pet now for my house. I basically want something that can be trained and behaves similar to a dog. I've had a dog before when I lived with my parents and I was the one who trained it, and was looking for another kind of animal that could be trained similarly, the most important thing is being able to have them housebroken!!!! I would be willing to provide any extra care needed for this animal as long as it can be trained.
Does anyone know of any animals like this?
7 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoLegal Question: Searching house?
OK, I have a question about searches in a house/appartment/ dorm. I live in a dorm and there is an agreement you have to sign in order to live there. One of the rules is this:
"Upon approval by the Director of Residence Life and/or his designee, a room can be entered without notice when there is reasonable cause to believe a violation of College policy has occurred or is taking place." so basicly if the police get permission to enter your room they don't need a warrant, that part I understand. The question is, once the police are ALREADY INSIDE the room, can they search un-opened containers, such as trunks, cardboard boxes, refridgerators etc, Without a warrant? The school rules don't say anything about it, so it's just a legal question at this point.
