  • Do you know this quote about wisdom meaning taking advice?

I read a marvelous quote that I cannot seem to locate again.... something along the lines of "wisdom means taking advice from those who know more than you" or "listening to those with more knowledge in a a particular area." It struck me as incredibly profound and now it's bothering me that I cannot locate or attribute it. I do recall that a familiar, famous philosopher issued the statement, but cannot for the life of me recall which one. Does this strike a bell for anyone?

    Thanks a lot!

  • Songs about moving on?

Looking to make a playlist of songs (preferably country) about moving on and not needing someone, like Sara Evans' "Stronger" and Lady A's "Wanted You More." Any suggestions?

  • Friends with Benefits Inquiry...?

One of my guy friends proposed entering into a FWB agreement, since I am new to sex and would like experience. He offered, I did not ask. But he has never complimented me or told me I'm attractive. Is that inherent in the offer? We dated briefly but our personalities are only compatible as friends... When we stopped dating he said well, I can't see us together, but if you want to have sex call me anytime. I don't want to seem needy by asking. Is it inherent in the offer he has made three times over the two year course of our friendship, or will guys indeed sleep with any opportunity that presents itself? I am empirically pretty, and told I'm hot by others, but his opinion is the only one that concerns me at the moment. I don't understand. If you find someone attractive, wouldn't you compliment them once in a while?! Or am I overthinking?

  • Question about Canadian Health Care System and Chiropractors specifically?

I'm attempting to investigate my chiropractor in the States, who is here on a green card from Canada. He seems competent, but all of the online reviews of every clinic at which he has ever maintained employ accuses him of ambulance chasing and general "sketchiness." I would really appreciate assistance with someone familiar with the Canadian health care system.

If he had obtained a bachelor's degree directly after high school and a chiropractor degree straight after that, he would have been licensed in 2004 or 2005. I believe he attended undergrad in his home country. I found him listed on the College of Chiropractors of Ontario website - his license was revoked in 2008 for non-payment of dues. Definitely the same guy - first, middle and last name match.

In the US records I was able to ascertain that he graduated from a New York college of Chiropractors and then practiced/was licensed in three other states (he just moved to mine recently). But when I inquired as to why he departed Canada for the US when he has on numerous occasions stated that he misses his family, all of whom remain in Canada, and repeatedly questions why he lives alone in the States, he simply said it's easier to obtain employment in the country where one attended obtained their degree.

...but if he's listed as a chiropractor in Ontario, doesn't that mean he originally attended chiropractor school in Canada? He acquired his first license to practice in the States in 2008... which would be four years after he could have graduated chiropractor school in Canada and worked for a year, giving him plenty of theoretical time to immigrate and attend school again in the States.

Why would someone with (not to get political) an opportunity to practice with one of the best health care systems in the nation immigrates to the States, attend college AGAIN, and obtain ANOTHER entire license? Unless he was forced out? Should I be worried? Something doesn't seem to add up.

    Any insight would be appreciated!

  • Song suggestions please?

I'm trying to make a playlist of country anthems about getting strong, letting go and moving on. Tracks like Sara Evans' "Stronger," Chely Wright's "Shut Up and Drive," LeAnn Rimes' "One Way Ticket" and Faith Hill's "But I Will." I would prefer female singers, and album tracks or older songs ('90s) would be fabulous.

  • Making eye contact in a gym - just protocol?

There’s a trainer at my gym I’ve spoken to a couple of times. He knows I’m not interested in hiring a PT but showed me a couple of routines I could do to abate my stress regardless. A couple of times he has waved to me, or positioned his clients on the treadmills so he winds up standing right next to me whilst helping them. In the past two weeks I haven’t really run into him because he’s always busy with clients, but probably four times I have glanced up from the treadmill or from my weights and found him staring at me. He always quickly looks away before I can smile or wave hello. In any other environment I would presume he liked me; but it’s a gym, so I’m not sure – aren’t they kind of schooled to act that way? (Although, none of the other trainers have.) What am I to make of this?

  • Colored my hair badly. Any advice for non-damaging help?

I colored my hair with L'Oreal Superior Preference and it's a heinous shade of red. Since I can't return it to my natural coffee-color for six weeks, does anyone have experience with some sort of non-damaging dye I can use in the interim? Henna, or something that disappears after five washes? Any input appreciated.

  • Looking for Recommendations?

Hi all - Preparing for vacation and seeking some new music for working out in the vein of Martina McBride, Sara Evans, Chely Wright, Sugarland, Miranda Lambert, etc. Anyone have songs by lesser-known female singers that aren't played on the radio but that you just love and would be willing to share? [I'm sick of hearing the same twelve tracks overandoverandover.] I would greatly appreciate any input, and thank you for your time!

  • Anyone know where to find LeAnn Rimes Video Screencaps?

I'm trying to make a blog usericon from her music video "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" but cannot locate any screencaps. Yes, I have searched Images and Photo Galleries extensively; they must be hiding or nonexistent.

The images will be modified sufficiently to constitute fair use. Any suggestions?

  • Need Rare Sheet Music - Help!?

I’ve already attempted searching the standard sheet music places - ebay, amazon, musicnotes, etc. I hope someone out there is a sheet music guru and knows of some hidden website gems.

I am looking for the piano part for Lonestar's “Everything’s Changed,” either the standard version from their Crazy Nights album or [preferably] the extended version from their album Lonely Grill.

I am completely willing to pay importation fees or purchase a compilation book or the entire album’s sheet music just to acquire this one song, providing it’s correct [ie in the same key as the album].

I tabbed it for guitar by myself but cannot find the official sheet music to learn the piano part! Any help would be fantastic and greatly appreciated! I’ll make sure you receive a hearty hand clasp [as well a computer can transmit such jovialities] and a warm fuzzy feeling inside.... Thank you!

  • Historical Fiction Recommendations?

    Hello,

I’m looking for well-crafted fiction [or interesting non-fiction] set in the American colonial era prior to or during the revolution, approx. 1700-1800.

I adore horses and am attempting to expand my knowledge of our predecessors lived, but non-fiction has a tendency to overload with imagination-blunting facts. I’m more interested in books that adequately and thoroughly detail the nuances of everyday life.

    Thank you!

  • Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mysteries Question (Spoilers).?

Yes, I do intend on reading the entire series, but I'm in the middle of studying for a licensing exam and have only had time for the first two so far. This is really bugging me: I know Bill and Sookie eventually break up and she is extremely bitter over his "betrayal." What exactly happens between them?

(Please don't just say "read the books." I intend to.)

  • Looking for Inspirational, Stay-Strong Songs?

I have a friend getting over an addiction and am looking to put together a playlist with stay-strong, it'll-all-turn-out-all-right songs like "This Night Won't Last Forever" by Sawyer Brown, "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" by Lorrie Morgan, "The Light In Your Eyes" by LeAnn Rimes & "You're Not My God" by Keith Urban. They don't have to be about addiciton necessarily, just about hanging in there and not losing hope. Thank you!

  • What Are Your Favorite Bluegrass Songs?

I am trying to get into bluegrass music and would love some suggestions of stuff I can download on iTunes – I’m basically looking to assemble a “crash course” for bluegrass. I love Alison Krauss & Union Station (“The Lucky One,” “Jacob’s Dream,” “Daylight”) and songs like “Lonesome Standard Time” so it shouldn’t be too much of a stretch.

Please share your favorites! I appreciate it.

  • If the Doctor showed up in the TARDIS tomorrow and offered to take you anywhere, anytime, for one day...?

    ...what day would you choose?

Mine would be November 25, 1976, the Winterland Ballroom in California. I'm obsessed with The Band and would have loved to be at the very last concert they ever gave with their original lineup. But I'd love to hear other choices.
