Atheists go to Heaven is they are sincere?
This is more of a discussion point, to be honest, but in his last public speech the Pope Francis stated that "sincere atheists will go to Heaven," (not an actual quote) which appears to mean that if you believe strongly enough in the non-existance of a supreme Deity, you will be with that Deity forever when you die.
I'm not an Atheist, or a Catholic, but I can't help but wonder if that's offensive to Atheists. I'm also aware that some argue that this has nothing to do with atheism and refers only to God being graceful in general. Regardless, Atheists, what is your response? 5 stars to the most relevant response.
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoBad wedding songs (guitar)!?
You guys are gonna love this.
I have been asked to play guitar for a long-time friend's wedding. Being the mature human being that I am, I was going to just play Canon in D. Then I realized that she hadn't set any boundaries on the music.
First off, I'm not in love with the bride, nor am I actually going to play something that would kill the seriousness (I'm 21 and I'm getting paid to do this). But just for kicks, what would be a song that would suggest that
1. The bride and groom are a bad pair, or
2. I was in love with the bride and wanted her to be with me.
Keep in mind that this will be played without percussion or any electric backup (acoustic guitar with amplifier). Give me some funny suggestions!
Thanks,
-Matt
--I got this idea from hearing "Outta My Head" (Daughtry) on FM radio.
1 AnswerLyrics8 years ago"Upbeat" wedding songs...what?
So this is a strange question. I and two other guys are playing "Canon in D" on acoustic guitar for a wedding. Traditional piece, nice and simple. The bride-to-be, though, has asked us to "play something upbeat" for when people are leaving. I am confused.
Remember that this will be acoustic guitar only. Also, we will not be singing. Pop, Jazz, Hip Hop and Rock are out, as well as anything more intense (you get my drift).
So, some kind of acoustic-only...tune that must be catchy and relatively fast. Help please? The wedding is tomorrow and she told us today.
Thanks!
1 AnswerWeddings8 years agoWhen did you know it was time to date?
I've been close to a girl for a while now and am seriously considering dating her. I'll try to keep this brief because I dislike long relationship descriptions on Y!A myself.
We were very close to a relationship two years ago. We ended up parting ways and never spoke until early this year, when I texted her to apologize for being bitter against her. Since then we have become close again (texting, visiting, giving hugs, etc), but aren't in an actual relationship.
I am 21 and she is 22. I am entering college for a four-year degree with two years done, and she has completed a trade school college and now works full-time. We both live at home and are single, although she isn't looking. Basically, she's already in love and is waiting on me to make a decision.
There are a couple problems. First, we disagree on some stuff. We are both Christians (agreeing on faith and religion is one of the most important element of a successful relationship), we each live a clean lifestyle (although she is a bit more risky in choices), etc, but we disagree on music, tattoos (she has several) and alcohol (although she drinks maybe once a month). I come from a stricter background and have firm convictions about avoiding some things and I don't want to compromise. However, I have more reasons to date her than to not date her. After making a list, I have found that I have twice as many reasons in favor.
Here's the thing. I take relationships seriously. I don't date for fun. I want to pick the right person the right time. I have been praying for making the right decisions, but I don't have a definite "yes" yet. I don't know what to look for, though. Things keep working in favor for us, but I don't have true peace about it yet. Then again, there is literally no one in my life that would ever date me. But I'm going to a university soon.
So here's my question: How did you know it was time to date your bf/gf? This is from a faithful, and very nervous, Christian who wants to make the right choice.
6 AnswersSingles & Dating8 years agoAccoustic guitar songs to learn (more details)?
I play accoustic guitar regularly at home and I need some new material to practice. I know you can play just about anything on one, so I'll clarify.
No metal, rock, or variations.
No pop, hip-hop, or variations.
Celtic/irish and country are both preferred.
Instrumentals are preferred.
Preferrably something meant to be played on accoustic guitar.
I'd enjoy a good instrumental (no lyrics) song to practice, or at least a really beautiful country or traditional song. If anyone can provide a good accoustic guitar song along those lines, I would appreciate it.

2 AnswersCountry8 years agoLyrics with the chorus "A-YEE A-YEE A-YEE A-YEE A-YEE!"?
There was a song on this morning that I couldn't get the title of. It had a guitar and a lot of percussion, and chorus sounded like "a-yee a-yee a-yee a-yee a-yee, woo!" with a heavy emphasis on each one, then "ayee, serona" or something. The first three "a-yee" sounds were some same chord (three guys singing in harmony and a guitar strum) but the fourth was a different one.
Those lyrics are way off, I'm sure, but I couldn't tell what they were actually saying (it was "ayee" or "my" pronounced ma-eyy, or maybe "I", pronounced e-ye). Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Thanks
3 AnswersLyrics8 years agoSWAT snipers: when do they show up "on site"?
Someone recently mentioned that, in a hostage situation, only a sniper would take a shot. The question was in relation to TV crime dramas (CSI, NCIS, Criminal Minds, etc). The stereotypical "gun to the head" hostage. Another stereotype is the "on site sniper" who shows up and shoots the "bad guy" every once in a while because we all think snipers are cool.
Here's the question: When does a sniper show up "on site?" Police stations don't just have sniper rifles lying around, so do you request a SWAT team? Or do the police have a scoped rifle in the trunk just in case? And what are the requirements (as in, seriousness of the situation. Hostage, multiple hostages, bomb threat, suicide bomb threat, etc)?
2 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoThe "Gun-to-the-head" hostage tactic...?
Anyone that watches CSI, NCIS, Criminal Minds, etc. knows that the "bad guys" love taking a hostage and putting a gun to their head. The "good guys" almost always drop their guns because he has a hostage.
However, 98% of the time the bad guy's head is in plain view, along with his arm, and the good guys are sometimes as close as five yards. Anyone with good handgun training could kill the bad guy in one shot. Why don't they? I always assumed it was because, when he died, the hostage taker's hand would tighten, firing the gun and killing the hostage. I'm not a cop, or a medical student, but I find that a little hard to buy.
Yes, TV dramas are unrealistic, which is why I'm asking. Five or six armed cops/special agents/SWAT soldiers and one hostage, and the cops drop their guns. Does it have to do with potentially hitting the hostage, or is it possible for him to kill the hostage when he's shot?
Bonus points if you're a police officer. You've probably been trained for this exact scenario.
3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoMicrosoft Excel: Printing the same row on every page?
Yes, I COULD go through Microsoft's huge help manual and try to find this, but it's a short question and I know someone on here knows the answer.
My document already has a Header (such and such company, revised date). However, I need the first row, which labels every column (Name | Address | Status, etc) to appear on each page as a reference. How can I keep the current Header on every page along with the first row?
Thanks.
3 AnswersSoftware8 years agoRemington Model 870 needs a scope?
My dad just recently decided he wants a nice scope for his favorite hunting weapon of choice: the Model 870 12-gauge. He has zero experience with buying scopes and has always used iron sights, so the gun has no scope mounts.
This shouldn't be a big issue for a lot of you, because I've done some light web research and have found that this is a fairly common attachment. He will need:
a scope mount for a Remington 870
a set of Weaver scope mounts
a Leopold scope
The scope does not need to be adjustable or to have an intense zoom (we're talking 12-gauge slugs, not a .308), but it DOES need to be designed for high-caliber weapons so it can handle the recoil, and it also needs to be "light gathering", which, I assume, means it can work in low-light conditions. That's all the information he has.
Who has done this before and what brands do you suggest?
2 AnswersHunting8 years agoFirst pistol, part 3: Prices.?
This is the third Q I've asked about buying my first pistol. I've done some research online (haven't been able to get to a show) and two didn't show Suggested Retail prices. Can anyone suggest an accurate selling price (I know it varies by buyer)? Here are the models, and links to their respective official websites.
Glock 21 (?): http://us.glock.com/products/model/g21
Ruger BSR45 ($529): http://www.ruger.com/products/sr45/models.html
Smith & Wesson M&P 45 ($599): http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/serv...
Springfield XD 45 ACP (?): http://www.springfield-armory.com/xd.php?version=6...
Taurus PT24/7 G2 45ACP ($523): http://www.taurususa.com/product-details.cfm?id=74...
I would also appreciate knowing how available or hard-to-get the models are, or if they are too much for a "first gun". If it helps, I'm 5'10", muscular, and have handled/used a Colt 1911 .45 for a while, so I'm experienced with the recoil and weight.
I budgeted a total of $1000 for my first gun, which includes a spare magazine, ear plugs, a small safe, a (RELIABLE) laser and some home defense ammunition. Speaking of which, what is your preferred home defense/special ammunition? I'm looking at Hornady Critical Defense and Winchester PDX1 as of now.
5 AnswersHunting8 years agoHere's a clever puzzle for rifle owners: mounting a scope on a Model 94?
My father has a Winchester Model 94 .30-30 lever-action rifle. It was his fathers, and he wants to take it hunting. Unfortunately, he hunts from a tree stand and can't see well enough to use the iron sights, so he wants a scope for it.
Problem: The 94 is a top-ejecting weapon, and a 30-30 is a long buttet, so a traditional scope won't work because it won't be able to eject cartridges. Plus, the 94 doesn't have scope mounts, or rails, or anything. So! How can I mount a scope to a Model 94? What kind of scope, and especially what kind of mounts?
Hope you guys have some ideas, because I can't think of any!
Thanks.
11 AnswersHunting8 years agoFirst handgun, need ideas (plenty of detail this time)?
Last time I posted, I was very vague on what I was looking for. After some serious thought, I've narrowed my field down considerably.
-Semi-automatic handgun. No revolvers.
-.45 cal. I have no 9mm ammunition and several boxes of .45 (my father has a .45 handgun already), so it would be more efficient to buy a .45.
-Not a "sub-combact" pistol, as in conceal-carry or 6-round magazines. I'm not applying for a conceal-carry permit, so I don't need a sub-compact handgun.
-Nothing past $1,200. That's my budget.
-Not a 1911 Model. Yes, they're excellent, but my father already has one.
-Preferably high-cap (double-stack, if that's the right term) magazine
-Weaver rail for a mounted laser or in-frame laser
Kimber, for example, is out of my range. I'm interested in Springfield, S&W, Glock, Sig Sauer, Ruger, etc. A friend recommended the Springfield XD .45 pistol. Any others?
Thanks
8 AnswersHunting8 years agoAre there any "Draw Something" artists out there?
I'm a (relatively) good Draw Something artist (I use color, shading, and look up a word as a reference if I'm not sure who/what it looks like), and I'm annoyed with finding people that just write down their word and don't try. Is anyone out there that likes "Draw Something" and can actually draw? I'll leave my name to the Best Answer.
Thanks.
2 AnswersPolls & Surveys8 years agoFunny t-shirt for my brother (details included)?
My brother wants a funny t-shirt for Christmas, and, since there are thousands of great shirts out there, I was wondering who could suggest a good one. Here are some qualities that should help:
-He's 19 (still a teenager)
-Left-handed
-Loves video games, particularly Xbox
-Loves "Game of Thrones" (I'd like to find a good GoT shirt)
-Likes "Legend of Zelda", "Assassins Creed" and Minecraft specifically
-Night owl, sleeps until noon
-In college with a terrible professor
-Very sarcastic
-No beer, drug or partying shirts
-No profanity or crude images
That's all I have, but that should be enough for several hundred good shirts. 5 stars for whoever can find the most funny t-shirts (that don't cost $30)
Thanks
1 AnswerPolls & Surveys8 years agoMusic videos that make more sense if you're on drugs?
I asked this before and didn't get any particularly good answers (Fish Heads by Barnes and Barnes was more like being painfully intoxicated). I'm talking epic weird music videos that probably only make sense if you're high. Videos with animation and bad physics. A good example is "Little Talks", by Of Monsters and Men. It's actually a pretty good song (link for ya: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ghb6eDopW8I%E2%80%A6
What other (official) music videos would be better if you were high?
Thanks.

17 AnswersPolls & Surveys9 years agoChristmas gift for a long-distance girl friend?
Girl friend, not girlfriend. Someone I met last year. We talk all the time and Skype and, as far as girls go, she's one of my best friends. But nothing past. She lives several states away from me, so we haven't met in real life, but we've sent each other postcards. I know her well and want to send her a gift for Christmas. Any suggestions?
Nothing fancy, not clothing (I am a guy. I cannot choose clothing), not too expensive (I'd say $40 max) because we're just friends. Any suggestions?
5 AnswersSingles & Dating9 years agoRolle's Theorem or Mean Value Theorem (or Extreme Value Theorem)?
A state patrol officer saw a car start from rest at a highway on-ramp. She radioed ahead to another officer 29 miles ahead of her. The car was travelling at 60 mph when it passed the second officer 28 minutes later. The driver was given a ticket. How did the officer conclude that the driver had exceeded the speed limit?
Multiple choice:
a.) Rolle's Theorem. At some time c, the car was travelling [_] mph
b.) Mean Value Theorem. At some time c, the car was travelling [_] mph
c.) Extreme Value Theorem. At some time c, the car was travelling [_] mph
I have to fill in the box (obviously). I can rule out c.) though, because we've never covered it. Who knows how to solve this? I'm not skilled at solving equations without having an equation to work with. I suppose there's a function here, but I don't know what it is.
Thanks.
