Kind of a long story...

So, I was feeling really crummy and lonely the other day and decided on a whim to join OkCupid. The second day I met a really nice guy who I got along with really well and he was genuinely interested in me. That night we kinda had an online date (we simultaneously watched a movie together and IMed during it). We literally talked to each other for hours that first day.

The next day and even the day after we did the same thing, except by then we had exchanged phone numbers so we could text and call each other.

He's really nice and we have a lot of similar interests, but he keeps texting me and telling me to get on IM so we can talk (he even does this when he is at work!). I had to keep making up lies as to why I couldn't talk right then because I just needed a freaking break.

I finally realized that I really don't want a relationship or want to be dating right now. I am way to concerned about getting my career started and getting in shape. I have so many things to do that I don't have time for a relationship. Also, this whole thing has made my anxiety a whole lot worse and I've been losing sleep because of how anxious I am.

I want things to end with him, but I feel really bad about it. One of the nights we had an "online date" he got quite a bit drunk (he doesn't even remember this) and called me. Now, in my mind alcohol is like truth serum.. When he called he said that he just had to hear my voice to make sure I was real because he was starting to think this was too good to be true and that he feels like he could just be himself with me.

This phone call happened on our second "date". Everything he said to me was like the equivalent to "I love you." and it really freaked me out. I mean, that's when it hit me that I really didn't want all this at this point in time. I was just at a low point in my life, and honestly, I think all I really wanted was a little attention.

He keeps texting me, trying to get a conversation started, but I've been ignoring him since yesterday afternoon. He is a really nice guy and I really do like him (more like a friend though), but I don't have the heart to tell him that I don't want a relationship right now. I feel like if I even do tell him the truth about how I feel he'll continue to text me or try to call me. Right now, I'm kind of doing the disappearing act. I feel like a real b**** by doing so, but 1) I don't think things will really end if I tell him the truth and 2) I honestly don't have the heart to tell him.

Seriously, we've only known each other for about 4 or 5 days. Would it be completely awful if I just disappeared without a word?

I wouldn't normally do it this way. Especially if we had already met in person, but we've only spoken online or via text (and one drunken phone call).

If you think I should tell him why then please tell me what to say. I haven't got a clue on how to put him down easy. :(

My mom just found out that someone has broken into her lockboxes and have stolen a ton of valuable jewelry, most of which belonged to my grandmother. It makes me sick to my stomach knowing that someone has been breaking in. Thing is that I think it might have been one of my neighbors. A typical robber leaves the place a mess, but our house looked just fine except the lockboxes had been broken into. The one's lid was broken off the hinges. It's like someone just walked right in and right back out.

My neighbor had watched our pets and house for two weeks this summer. This would have given her plenty of time to make a copy of the key and scope out the house. Even while we were gone some things went missing, about $1,500 and a tennis bracelet my grandma had bought for me. My mom kept thinking she had misplaced it, but now we are pretty sure that it was stolen. Now within the past few weeks, another $500 (which was meant for Christmas this year) and more jewelry that had so much sentimental value have been stolen. Everything points to her. I plan on setting up a video camera and hiding it somewhere, and on days I have off, I plan on parking my car on the other side of the neighborhood and hiding out in the house so she (or whoever) thinks no one is home. I don't know if she'll come back. She may have stolen all she wanted for now.

I am so positive it was her, but I don't have any hard proof. Is there any other ways I could try to find out it was her?

I feel so sick to my stomach about this and I just want to catch her in the act.

I just spent the last 4 weeks living in Malaysia. I drank the tap water and felt completely fine. I just got back to the states a few days ago and last night I drank a lot of tap water (I was really thirsty and I haven't had time to grocery shop). Not long after drinking the water, I was hit with a sudden fever and then I started vomiting. Afterwards I felt completely fine and I still feel fine. I can't think of anything else that would have caused me to become suddenly sick like that. I had my flu shot so I know it's not that.

Is it possible I got so use to the water in Malaysia that the water here is making me sick because I'm no longer use to the same chemicals?

So, I will be going to gynecologist for the first time at the beginning of November, which will be right around the time of my period. I really can't reschedule it. It's always hard to make an appointment with them and I'm away at school so I have to drive 150 miles to get home. I'm going home the weekend before for a different doctors appointment and I can't afford all the gas to go back and forth.

I was just wondering if there is a natural way to make your period come sooner? I need to make it to that appointment because I need to get the OK to go on birth control (I'm going to southeast Asia in December for a study abroad and I'll be there for nearly 4 weeks. I don't want to be dealing with my period while I'm there so that's why I'm trying to go on birth control).

I've heard of some people being able to change when their time of the month comes, but I'm unsure of the different methods and if they really work.

Any help or advice will be much appreciated!!!

I keep having rolly pollies come in through my window. I know the obvious thing is to shut it, but my room gets unbearably hot and my roommates are trying to cut our electric bill by not constantly running the A/C (which doesn't cool off my room at all anyway).

I mean I like rolly pollies, but it's really annoying to find a swarm of them on the windowsill or on the wall or waking up to them crawling on your bed.

What can I do to get rid of them? I kinda want to avoid buying bug spray because I really don't have money to spare. I know with like ants for example baby powder will keep them away (I did that in my bathroom and I haven't seen them since). Is there anything like that that would keep the rolly pollies away?

I'll be working on a short film this year and I signed up to be the art director because 1) they needed someone for that job and 2) i'm artistic and I've always been interested in working in the art department.

The only thing is, I don't know exactly what all I'll be doing. It's a very small independent film so I think it will be mostly just me in the art department.

So what I'm asking is what all will I most likely be doing? Also, I welcome any tips or advice you might have.:)

So I'm taking a class this summer and one of my classmates is a libra. On the first day we had to do those silly little introductions and he remembered me straightaway. We had a class together last fall and he kept going on and on about one of my projects. I swear, he remembered more about my project than I did.

Anyway, ever since day one, I have caught him constantly staring at me. One time I caught him staring at my legs (he was curious about a small tattoo I have on my thigh). He's interested in every single word that comes out of my mouth and on occasion, we will get into to deep conversations. He holds the door open for me (but maybe he's just chivalrous in nature). And though I'm not entirely sure, I think he's been flirting with me.

I mean it kinda sounds like he likes me. I honestly don't date much and really can't tell if a guy likes me.

Also, how faithful are they? I swear I heard him say he was dating his roommate, but I can't be entirely sure. I like him, but if he is dating someone I don't want to be the other woman, etc, etc.

I've been the only girl in classes before and there wasn't a problem, but in this one I'm a little uncomfortable.

It's a scriptwriting class and this week we are workshopping each others scripts. The one I read for today is NOT very female friendly. I was actually really offended by it (it's hard to offend me). Thing is that we'll be talking about it in class today and I'm not sure how to look comfortable while talking about it. And how to not sound offended (even though I really am).

I have this really pretty skirt but I'm not sure what to wear with it. The skirt is orange at the bottom, deep pink in the middle, and brown at the top.

I have an orange tank top but it's not the right shade. I have a brown tank but it's old and faded and doesn't match. I have a pink scoopneck that might match and I have a long sleeved brown shirt that matches (I just think it's a little too hot to be wearing long sleeves).

Do the pink or brown sound alright? Are there any other colors that might work? Yellow maybe?

So last night I spilt a drink on my desk and a little got on my macbook. It immediately shut down. I quickly dried it off and opened the bottom to clean up in there but it was clean and dry inside. No residue or anything. But it wouldn't turn back on.

I took it to my school's tech center this morning and the guy agreed that everything looked good inside. None of the moisture sensors clicked on or anything.

The only thing we could think of was that one little drop hit the power button and screwed it up.

I talked with the tech center guy about repairing it, but he said that they were already backed up and it would take 2-3 weeks. He told me it shouldn't be too expensive (I'd probably pay more for the labor).

But I was wondering if anybody could give me a rough estimate on how much it would cost to get it repaired? Also would it be best to just to take it to the Apple store or to another tech center?

(Also my warranty for my macbook just ended in June.)

I had a glass of lemonade and it spilt on my desk. A very tiny bit of it hit my MacBook pro. I immediately lifted it from the desk and it turned off. I quickly took the hard shell off and began dry it. I have it sitting in some rice right now and it's been in there for 45 minutes or so. I know you're supposed to wait 72 hours but I pressed the power button and nothing happened.

I swear it was a very tiny amount that hit it but it hit right around the power button. Could that be the issue? If so, could I get it replaced and how much would it cost? Should I just wait a few more days before trying anything? Should I take it to my tech store immediately tomorrow morning or just go in and ask them questions or what?

I'm sorry I'm asking so much but my MacBook is literally my life at the moment. I have an online internship and I'm taking a scriptwriting class that requires a lot of work to be done on the computer.

Any advice, help, etc would be much appreciated

I'm in college and taking summer classes to make sure I graduate in time. My first class starts tomorrow morning and my professor just emailed us the syllabus. I was reading through it and it said our final project is a 30 minute solo presentation on American Childhood.

I have a terrible fear of speaking in front of people. I can barely handle a 5 minute presentation so how the hell am I going to pull off a 30 minute presentation?!

I'm sure I'll have plenty of information for my presentation it's just the actual speaking that's freaking me out.

Presentations are about 4 weeks away. Any advice on what I can do to help get me over my fear or at least get me through this presentation?

So I had this video project I had to work on with a couple people from my media lab. We decided to shoot one of our videos for the project last night so it ended up being just me, and we'll call them Ben, and John. And I am so sure that Ben was flirting with me the entire time! He just didn’t act like how other guys do when they’re around me.

he was EXTREMELY chivalrous

he was constantly asking questions like where I live, what’s my last name, what’s my middle name?!, etc.

he lightly teased me

constantly made eye contact with me

he would stand really close to me while we were designing the set, picking out costumes, and setting up the shots.

I let him play with Siri on my iPhone and he asked “Who is the most beautiful girl in the world?”… He was looking at me when he said it.

I had to do a scene where I was wearing a baseball cap and a beard (this was an extremely silly video), and when John stepped away to go grab a prop Ben came up to me and started adjusting the hat and beard and, gawd it feels awkward saying this but it happened, his hand accidentally brushed against my lips (and he did not apologize). And he also brushed my hair behind my ears.

he constantly complimented me (on my taste in music, my acting skills, my hair, etc.)

And when we parted ways after the video shoot, eye contact was prolonged…

I’m not expert at flirting or being flirted with, but everything he did tonight seemed awfully flirtatious.

And I know some of things he asked and did were slightly on the creeper side, but I've sort of had a crush on HIM from the beginning of the quarter so it's all good haha

When I was in 8th grade (that was 7 years ago), our english teacher made us write christmas cards to soldiers over in either Iraq or Afghanistan (I can't remember which).

I was the only person in my class to get a card back from, and then I continued to write back and he did too. Then the letters stopped coming and I haven't heard from him since. I hate when I think about why the letters stopped coming because it's that I always think of the worst. His job was mine clearance and if you couldn't already guess, it's an extremely dangerous job.

For all I know, he still could be alive, but not knowing drives me nuts and leaves me extremely sad. I was a 14 yr old girl and this brave soldier told me his whole life story in just a couple of letters. That made me feel extremely special.

Does anyone know how I could search for soldiers online? I've tried looking on Facebook, myspace, etc. but his name is very common.

Any help would be much appreciated. I would love if there'd be a way that I could write to him (or his family) or have someone at least pass the letter on.
