  • Have you ever tried eating a banana with salt on it?

I know it might sound odd, but it's really quite tastey.

  • What factors determine when a river will crest?

I'm not looking for a terribly deep and technical answer, but when I hear the weatherman say "the river will crest at........" how is it determined WHEN? (i.e., is it affected by the moon? the sun? wind? ocean? etc.)

(I live in central Jersey, and with all the flooding that's going on around here I've been hearing this a lot lately.)

  • Question about static electricity?

With the weather being so cold, the furnace runs a lot and dries out the air in the house. Every time I pet my cats I get shocks.

    #1 -- I don't like humidifiers.

#2 -- I know boiling some water will help (but that wouldn't help much in rooms other than the kitchen)

#3 -- I know setting pans of water in the rooms will help (but they can easily get spilled).

Is there any other way that I can get some humidity in the air of my home? and/or some way that I can pet my cats without getting shocks all the time?

  • Have you heard about the Easter Bunny's words of wizdumb ?

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Walk softly and carry a big carrot.

Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.

There's no such thing as too much candy.

All work and no play can make you a basket case.

A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention.

Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.

Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.

Keep you paws off other people's jellybeans.

Good things come in small-sugarcoated packages.

The grass is always greener in someone else's basket.

An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare.

To show your true colors you have to come out of the shell.

The best things in life are still sweet and gooey.

  • Want to read a good blonde joke?

Wanting to earn some money, a blonde decided to hire herself out as a handyman-type and started canvassing a wealthy neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any jobs for her to do. "Well, you can paint my porch. How much will you charge?"

The blonde replied "How about 50 dollars?" The man agreed and told her that the paint and other materials she might need were in the garage. The man's wife overheard the conversation and said to her husband, "Does she realize the porch goes all the way around the house?" The man replied, "She should, she was standing on it."

A short time later the blonde came to the door to collect her money. "You're finished already?" he asked. "Yes," she replied, "and I had paint left over, so I gave it two coats." Impressed, the man reached in his pocket for the $50.

"And by the way," the blonde added, "it's not a Porch, it's a Ferrari."

  • How much gas would an SUV burn while idling?

My neighbor starts her car and lets it idle for at least 20-30 minutes before she leaves. Of course she complains about bad gas mileage! Just wondering about how much gas she's wasting when she allows her SUV engine to idle for that length of time (at least once or twice per day).

  • Nickles are now the pennies of yesteryear?

Back in the day, pennies were quite valuable. In today's world, with constant inflation, there's NOTHING that you can buy for a penny. In 2010 the penny was "re-done", when in actuality I think pennies are of no value and should no longer be made. The smallest value coin in the USA should now be the nickle. What's your feeling on this?

  • Why do cats "bow and stretch"?

My cat loves drinking water directly from our bathroom faucet. It's a ritual for her to sit at the bathroom door and wait for me. As I approach the bathroom, she always enters in front of me, then stops and "bows" (stretching her front paws out in front of her, putting her head down and rear end up in the air) and in one continued motion she lefts her head up and puts her rear end down with her back legs stretched down to the ground behind her.

She does this rather frequently and she's never facing me when she does it.

My friends have told me that their cats also do this same "bowing and stretching" motion. Does anyone know why? or what it means?

  • Ovarian Remnant Syndrome in cats?

Has anyone had an experience with Ovarian Remnant Syndrome ("ORS") in a cat?

I found out about ORS in cats the hard way > through a bad experience of "redirected aggression" from my calico. I could never understand why she would still spray even after she had been spayed.

I've Googled this subject and only get info back about ORS in women and dogs. I'd like to know how I can get information out to others about the bad experience I had... all because of ORS.

  • Why would a cat "coo" instead of "meow" ?

I adopted my cat from PetSmart when she was 10 months old. Supposedly she had been found in a flower box.

I named her "Coo-ey" because she "cooes" (or gives "trills") instead of meowing. She "coos" all the time:-- before jumping up onto her cat tree or onto her window seat, or if I touch her (unexpectedly) while she's laying down, or before she jumps on my lap, etc.

The only time she'll "meow" is when she's scared (when I put her in the pet carrier) or when she gets mad (if she gets annoyed at something I do during play). And I only ever heard her hiss one time, when the vet clipped her claws.)

I've had her for 6 years now, and she's always been this way. I'm just curious if anyone knows why a cat would "coo" instead of "meow".
