I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. The truth of the Bible has brought peace in my life even in this crazy world. Knowing why things are happening goes a long way to lessening the stress that others have to deal with. It is comforting to know that Jehovah is in charge and his purposes will be fulfilled. It's also faith strengthening to know that whatever discoveries are made in the world, they will support the Bible. If Science TRULY proves something, it will support creation. Is there is new truthful information about health or morality, it will support Bible principles. Faithful servants of God do not fear true science.

  • What is your reaction to this?

If Stephen Hawking allows for the possibility of God's existence, why do others deny any possibility of that.

“I’m not religious in the normal sense. I believe the universe is governed by the laws of science. The laws may have been decreed by God, but God does not intervene to break the laws.” (Quoted in “Stephen Hawking prepares for weightless flight”, New Scientist [April 26, 2007])

  • Doesn't the Law of Inertia prove the existence of God?

The Law of Inertia states that an object at rest will remain at rest unless acted upon by an outside force. Or as Wikipedia states: "Inertia is the resistance of any physical object to a change in its state of motion or rest"

For those that do not believe in an eternal God, how do you explain the "first cause", the first movement of any kind. This is a simple question. I hoping someone will have simple, honest, serious answer.

  • Is the Law of Inertia still considered valid and true?

And if so, how do you explain the 'first cause', the beginning of all existence, movement and energy?

  • Do you agree with this statement?

The Revised Standard Version states in its preface: “The use of any proper name for the one and only God . . . is entirely inappropriate for the universal faith of the Christian Church.”

Do you agree with that? If you do, how could you follow Jesus' example stated at John 17:26 "And I have made thy name known to them, and shall make known; that the love by which thou hast loved me, be in them, and I in them. - Wycliff Bible

Also, how you be able to fulfill God's purpose stated at Exodus 3:15 "And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, Jehovah, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations." - Divine Name King James Bible

  • Why would people keep quoting this Scripture?

In so many discussions regarding the identity of Jesus, people continue to quote i John 5:7:

"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

Don't they know that this translation is spurious, and was incorrectly translated around 1100 A.D.?

    See the following;

New International Version - " For there are three that testify:"

Easy to read translation - "So there are three witnesses that tell us about Jesus:"

New American Standard - "For there are three that testify:"

New Living Translation - "So we have these three witnesses"

If you continue to doubt this, get a Diaglott or Greek to English transation and read the original words.

  • Christians, what is your opinion of the Divine Name KJ Bible?

The publishers have reinstated the known name of God, Jehovah, to the almost 7,000 places where it appears in the Old and New Testaments.

  • Catholics, could you comment on this?

What are your thought about these verses when compared to some teachings of the Church?

    1 Timothy 4:1-3

New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)

4 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will renounce the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2 through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared with a hot iron. 3 They forbid marriage and demand abstinence from foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

  • If you believe in Evolution, can you answer this question?

Please give this question some thought and answer honestly:

Take a look around at the place where you are sitting, be it office, house, apartment or other structure. Can you explain how it came to be WITHOUT crediting a designer and builder?

Please describe how that could happen,

  • Why do trinitarians try to use John 10:30?

    When following verses make it very clear what Jesus meant? Please read John 17: 21;

"I want all of them to be one with each other, just as I am one with you and you are one with me. I also want them to be one with us. Then the people of this world will believe that you sent me."

John 10:30 does NOT prove that God and his Son are the same person. It is stating that they are in union, in agreement. Do people use John 10:30 to support a trinity doctrine out of ignorance, or are they deliberately trying to mislead people by misapplying this verse?

  • How would a trinitarian explain 1 Cor. 8:6?

    NIV:

"yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live."

    21st Century KJ:

"yet to us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we in Him, and one Lord Jesus Christ by whom are all things, and we by Him."

    Good News Translation:

"yet there is for us only one God, the Father, who is the Creator of all things and for whom we live; and there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created and through whom we live."

    New Living Translation:

"But we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we live for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life."

All these translations show conclusively that there is ONE God and that is the Father. He is the SOURCE of all creation. Separate and distinct from Him is his Son who was made Lord. All things were made through him.

  • Does this make you consider that God exists?

Take what we KNOW from science.

    1. Life ONLY comes from life. Whether you want to admit it, that is true.

    2. If life begets life, the we are left with two choices: Either all life comes from an infinite chain of living organisms, each begetting the next, or.....

    3. There would be one original life force that has lived from eternity. The fact that we find it hard to comprehend a single eternally living being does not mean that one does not exist.

    4. So I believe that an eternal being, God, is the only explanation for how life began.

    5. To rest your belief on the idea that life came from countless billions or trillions of life 'generations' is even more far fetched. Why? Because, you are still left without an explanation of how all life began.

  • Is this a case of intellectual dishonesty?

I am actually posting in response to a comment made by "The Doctor" regarding the use of God's name in the New Testament. His position is that God's name does not appear there.

If a verse in the NT is a direct quote from the OT and that original verse contains God's name, would it not be wrong to omit God's name? Should it not be included in the quote in order to be accurate?

  • What happened to all the charts?

How many remember the wall charts hanging in every classroom that showed the evolution of man starting with a fish, then a lizard, monkey, ape and finally man? Well, what happened to them? Why aren't they there? Wasn't science ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN they were portraying man's ancestors?

How many times will the latest 'fad' theories of evolution FAIL them before believers realize they're following blind leaders? Any honesty out there?

  • How could man know this?

Many ancient pieces of art, carvings on temples and sculptures display anatomically correct dinosaurs, yet fossils were first scientifically identified in the early 1800's. The temple at Angkor Wat has a carving of a stegosaurus on the wall, a temple that was built about 1100 AD. How was this possible if dinosaurs were wiped off the earth millions of years ago? How would man have the information to make such life-like images of them?

    Here's a few examples:

Ancient pottery with images of a Triceratops a Allosaurus

    http://www.bible.ca/tracks/peru-tomb-art.htm

Carving of Stegosaurus at Angkor Wat

    http://www.bible.ca/tracks/tracks-cambodia.htm

To avoid a lot of groundless attacks, I do not believe the earth was created in 6 or 7 days. There is no statement in the Bible that teaches that. Rather Genesis 1:1 says: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." It doesn't say when the beginning was and the creative days began to be counted after that.

Secondly there is no Biblical reason to conclude that the creative days are literal 24 hour days. In fact, there is no reason that the creative days have to be all the same length. One might have been millions of years long. Others shorter or longer.

But this still leaves the initial question: How would man know what dinosaurs looked like? I think a very logical explanation is they continued to live until the flood of Noah's day. Pictures, drawings and sculptures would have preserved eyewitness testimony of their appearance. Any comments?

  • Why isn't this simple solution commonly known?

With the sweltering heat and many people dying, why aren't news agencies broadcasting this simple solution? Anyone that has indoor plumbing can take a cool shower or fill their tub with cool water and soak in it when the heat turns deadly.

I see news reports about going to cool rooms or seeking shelter in air-conditioned buildings. Yet every person can cool themselves at home. If you know an elderly person that could benefit from this information, let them know. Spread the word to your local newspapers and TV and radio stations. It's so simple and lives could be saved.

  • Do you think this Scripture proves anything?

I've always been confused why members of the Jewish religion try to deny involvement in the death of Jesus. Please notice the following Scripture:

Acts 2:36 (New American Standard Bible)

"Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ.....this Jesus whom you crucified."

I remember the hoopla when Mel Gibson's movie came out, what an uproar it caused. Why are Jews today so reluctant to admit what happened 2,000 years ago. It's like Americans denying slavery because they think we are somehow responsible for it.

Any thoughts? I do not hate or resent people of any race. I just want to make that clear.......
