what to do for my dog when her tummy hurts?
My dog, Jilly is probably about 10. She's a Schnauzer Dachshund mix and she has pancreatitis. She's had it since I adopted her about 5 years ago and she gets enzymes in her food every day. She went from 12-18 pounds in the first 6 months of taking the medicine and has been pretty healthy ever since. But every once in a while, she still gets a bad tummy ache and doesn't want to eat. Usually it only lasts about 6-12 hours and she's begging for food again. The vet said that letting her wait it out and not eat for a bit is the best thing to do, but one thing I didn't think of asking, is if there's anything I can do or can give her that will make her a little more comfortable when she goes through this. She really seems to be suffering when she deals with it and I wish I could make her feel better. Any sugestions?
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoDoes anyone with experience know how long it takes for the IRS to receive or process a past year tax form?
The IRS website says it takes 6-8 weeks to process but there are some things that say you can check in after 3 weeks. I sent in my 2007 tax forms in a few weeks ago, and I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and can tell me how long it took for you. I know on the website you can go to "where's my refund" but I don't have a refund coming, I just want to know that they got it. I realize I can call, but since I'll be calling every day, I'm curious to know what other people's experiences are.
Thanks!
2 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoWhat is the fastest way to file taxes without e-file?
I'm in the process of buying a house and made a discovery that I made a huge mistake; I never filed my 2007 taxes. I called the IRS and they said at this point the fastest way to file is through the mail. I can no longer do e-file since they're from 2007. The problem is, they said in the mail it can take 6-8 weeks. But by the time 6-8 weeks rolls around, I may have already lost my deal. Can anyone recommend anything faster? I'm trying to gather all of my information so I can send them out tomorrow. Thank you!
6 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoWhat do you believe is the best or worst pet insurance & Why?
I have two dogs & two cats and I just spent close to $1000 on my dog because he ate a bunch of stuff that wasn't food... (Dirt & carpet) Anyway, I've looked at a few different types of insurance and they're very expensive so I want to make sure I choose the most reasonable one that covers as much as possible. I also have a dog who has pancreatitis although her bills have never been over $300 as of yet. Any positive or negative tips about pet insurance would be very appreciated. Thank you!
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHow do you fax on the epson nx 400 printer?
My boyfriend threw away the manual and I can't figure out how to scan or fax something. Does anyone still have the manual or know where I can find one online? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

2 AnswersPrinters1 decade agoI accidentally drove over the bay bridge in the bus/carpool only lane?
Today, Sunday, I was driving from Oakland to SF and about to go through the toll bridge but we decided to take the West Grand exit and turn around. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of taking the bus & carpool lane on the far right instead. This is the side that doesn't take you through the toll, it goes completely around and feeds you onto the bridge so I couldn't tell if there was a camera there or not. Has anyone done this before? And if so, what happened? Thanks!
4 AnswersSan Francisco1 decade agoMy Dogs pink eye was treated but her eyelids still seem irritated?
My dog had pink eye a few weeks ago and has been treated for it but the inside of what I guess is her eyelid still seams irritated. She still gets a little gunk in her eye too. Is this just allergies or something? If it seems serious, I will take her back in, but if this is normal, I will try to be patient and hope she gets better! Thanks for any help!
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHow do I dispute an old medical claim which is on my credit report?
I found huge medical bill listed as unpaid on my credit report. I realized it was from a surgery I had 6 years ago that should have been paid by my insurance. I contacted the creditor who now owns the claim and they said that even though it was initially a mistake in billing, it has become my issue and I need to pay it. I would like to dispute it but I don't know where to begin. My insurance has changed since then and because it happened such a long time ago, I don't even have any of the records. The claim is for a sinus surgery which was over $21,000. How do I even know that it's the correct amount? Does anyone have any recommendations for someone who can research this sort of thing and help me at a low cost? Thank you!
2 AnswersCredit1 decade agoHow negotiable are new home sales in CA?
I realize it's probably different in each city but I recently went to look at a new housing track in Northern CA. There were a couple of homes just out of my price range and I was wondering how possible it is to negotiate. A couple of the homes were already finished but there was a problem with the Original purchaser so they've been reduced. Thanks for any help!
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoAM traffic from San Ramon CA to Oakland CA?
I'm not sure if anyone from the area will be reading this, but just in case... My boyfriend and I are thinking of buying a condo in San Ramon. I work in Oakland and have to go to Concord about twice a week in the evening. In my experience, 580 & 680 are really heavy traffic areas during commute hours. Is this true? I usually start work between 7am-9am in Oakland & Commute to Concord around 6pm. Thanks for any help you may have! Also, if you don't know the area but happen to know if a site that shows realistic drive time with typical traffic, that would be really helpful too!
2 AnswersSan Francisco1 decade agoHow much harder is running & working out for you around 30?
I'm just curious. I turned 31 a month ago. Admittedly my workout schedule has fluctuated a lot in the last few years, but I've noticed that I can't seem to run as far and as long as I did when I was 23. It's also quite a bit more difficult to loose weight or keep it off. I have a lot of healthy friends my age and most of them keep it off, but they're also people that have never really had to struggle with weight. How about anyone else?
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoSad about my cat killing mice & Rats...?
It makes me so sad when my cat kills a mouse or a rat. I know this is what they do, he's done it for a few years now, but every time I see it, it still makes me sad! I used to have rats as pets so I have a special connection to them. Sometimes he leaves one partially eaten, or I find bits and pieces of one. He just walked in the house with a little baby one in his mouth and as soon as he saw me, he ran out. Does anyone else have the same feelings about this? What do you do? I can't make him an indoor cat, he loves being outside.
8 AnswersCats1 decade agoWhat breed is my dog? Border terrier mix?
I just adopted a dog from the pound. I'm sure he's a border terrier, but I wonder if he's mixed with something else. He's full grown, 2 years old and about 2 lbs under the smallest breed weight of the border terriers. I'm sure he'll gain a little weight once he's settled in but I doubt it will be two pounds! He also has a slightly curled tail. His face and fur look like a pure bred, but his size and curly tail throw me off. Maybe mixed with pug? I'm just curious what other's think since I'm trying to work on training him and I'm curious about breed specifics. Feel free to comment on the other one too, I think she's a shnauzer dachshund mix.

6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHow do I stop my new dog from chasing my cats?
I just adopted a small dog today from the pound. He's about 10-12 lbs and completely untrained. He seems to be pretty smart so far so I think he'll be easy to train. I was going to get him a crate so I can work on potty training and I'm wondering if this will help with the cats too. He's smaller then my big cat and about the same size as the smaller one. I also have a very well behaved dog who's just a little bigger then him and she completely ignores the cats.
The new little one seems to already have learned that I'm Mom and he seems to want to make me happy. He doesn't always pay much attention to them, but as soon as they make a quick movement, he starts to run after them. I have been right there whenever they're nearby and have told him "no" or "ch" in a stern voice. He seems to respond well to the "ch" so someone must have told him that before.
Anyway, I'm wondering what else I can do to help prevent this from happening and how long it might take for him to learn. He's a small wirey terrier mix.
Thank you!!
4 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHow long did you feel pain after your wisdom teeth were pulled?
I'm 30 which is a little late to get my wisom teeth pulled but I finaly did it! There were a few complications; It was infected, impacted, my roots were hooked... It was a pretty rough surgery. I'm on motrin and two antibiotics. My energy level is a little better but I'm still experiencing some pain. They told me that it would be a little worse then the usual recovery, but I'm curious if anyone has had a similar experience and how long it took you to feel better. Mine was pulled on Friday. Unfortunately, I still have one more to go through!
2 AnswersDental1 decade agoWhy won't my dog stop peeing in the corner!?
I went back to work a few weeks ago. Every morning, I take my dog on walk and she pees and poops. My boyfriend wakes up a few hours later and usually she's already peed in the corner. I started locking her in the bedroom with him which stopped her from doing that, but then she switched to doing it when he's in the shower and if she doesn't go then she will sometime in the day when she's alone, even if it's just for an hour.
She was a rescue dog and was somewhat potty trained when we got her, but she still had a few accidents now and then. She was a lot better when I was on vacation for two months this summer. It seems like she is looking for the opportunity to go there as soon as she's alone and I think it's because she's mad at me for leaving! She's usually only home alone about 4 hours a day and we leave the sliding glass door open enough for her to get out and go on the patio. We always try to discipline her by making her smell it and locking her outside for little while. And when she doesn't have an accident, we give her a treat. I think there may have been a few instances where I didn't think she went and gave her a treat later to realize that she actually did. I'm going to have to inspect it a little better!
Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Thank you!
7 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHow important is BMI and how accurate are the online charts?
I have a very active job and I'm on vacation right now. My job sometimes makes it difficult to work out as much as I'd like so I'm taking my 1 & 1/2 months of summer to get in the best shape I can. I've gone back to running, about 5 days a week and strength training about 3 days a week. I'm running 4 miles and walking another 2 or 3. I'm 30 years old and I realize that weight loss isn't as easy as it once was! My goal was to loose about 10lbs this summer. I know that's a lot but I have the time and energy to dedicate myself to that right now. What concerns me is that even if I loose 10 lbs I'm still at the cusp of being considered "overweight" with a BMI of 25.9.
I eat pretty healthy and I'm even doing weight watchers right now. I'm a vegetarian (and have been for 17 years so don't try to change me :) But I eat all kinds of veggies, legumes, dairy, soy... and try to make sure I eat sufficient protein. I think health should be the most important thing, but my BMI concerns me.
