I'm a compulsive explainer. I love to help people, and my favorite way to help a person is to help them to understand. I love History, Sociology, Anthropology, and Political Science, trying to understand why people do the things they do. I love Sci-fi and Fantasy, because they give me new leads in my eternal pursuit of "Why" and "What If". I have worlds of imagination, and want to write, just for the chance to share them.
Any "Anti-Zionist" who Doesn't Deny the Holocaust or Support/Allow Terroristic Attacks on Civilian Non-Combatants?
No hate please.
I'm in a debate with someone, and looking for a credible source for their side, that being defined as someone who does not deny the Holocaust or Allow/Support/Condone terroristic attacks on civilian non-combatants who are not aiding combatants.
I haven't been able to find any authoritative sources so far, but I'm making a good-faith effort to do so, and would appreciate your help.
I am not convinced that Israel is right in every respect, but I'm not going to listen to scum who say "Go kill pregnant women and children." Or deny the reality that some of my friend's parents and grandparents experienced firsthand.
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoHow can I help this girl (Almost Family)?
There's a girl I know. I'm going to call her Adriana, which is not her name. We've been raised almost like cousins, but not quite. I'm 27, she's 26. So neither of us is where we really want to be in life, but for different reasons.
Adriana is one of those people who is talented in just about everything. Everywhere she goes, and everything she does she is pretty good at it, but she's not a genius at any one thing. Unfortunately she's a perfectionist. Each time, she gets pretty good at it, gets frustrated, and quits. For example, she's learned four instruments (none of which she plays anymore, or thinks she ever could really play,) 3 languages, (none of which she speaks anymore, or believes she ever could speak right,) and has three or four bachelors degrees she is not using, and is working on another.
The thing is, she's the same way with places and jobs, and I'm afraid that she may be the same with relationships. She's never had a boyfriend that lasted more than a couple months. Adriana is not the short term fling type. She's very much a long term commitment person, and each time it tears her up. She has very few friends, and I don't think she has any that she confides in, (except me a little bit.) Her friends tend to be temporary.
I'm not a person who forms many emotional attachments. At all. But I really care for her, and want her to succeed. She doesn't think that she's a perfectionist, and keeps thinking the next thing will be different. What can I do for her?

10 AnswersHoroscopes7 years agoWhat are Appropriate Gifts?
I'm hoping to get a chance to be an exchange student to Japan, and I've heard about the Japanese custom of gift giving. I also know that it is considered rude to give a gift that is either too cheep or too expensive. (Or might make the person think I had a romantic interest.) What would be appropriate for a 25 year old college student to give to these people?

Also, what about Cherries? My Japanese Instructor told me how much more expensive Cherries are there then here ($4/lb here), how they are sold individually in a box, rather than by the pound, and how she sometimes takes them as gifts when she visits her family. So would a pound of cherries be an appropriate gift, and if so, for whom? Any other things I need to know please tell me.
1 AnswerEtiquette10 years agoWhat is the name of this Tsundere Variant?
What would be the name for a Tsundere character, where instead of the aloof/angry mode, you instead have a general silliness and "Class Clown" behavior mode?
1 AnswerComics & Animation10 years agoHow many small craft would a WWII destroyer have?
I'm just curious. I'm doing some random research for my own enjoyment, but none of the articles I've encountered have mentioned how many boats different ships would have, and how big they would be.
1 AnswerHistory1 decade agoWhat would you think? <Ladies>?
I am a fundamental Christian who is also fascinated by history. I found this site where, what they do, is they find really really old Bibles (400+ years) that are falling apart and have pages ruined, and they gently take them apart an take out the pages that are still good and they sell them, so people can put them up on their walls, etc. Anyway, I was thinking of putting in for the passage that describes the perfect wife. It seems to be in high demand, as I have not seen it available, but I though I could reserve the next one they got in, so that whenever I get married I could give it to my wife. Anyway, my question is, what would you think if you found that your husband had bought something like this before he had even met you, for whoever he ended up marrying? Would you think it was sweet and sentimental? Weird and creepy? Too much pressure? Sometimes I get these ideas that I think are great, and it takes someone from outside to let me know that it's actually weird, and not in a good way.
8 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoIf asked, would you join?
My mom told me, that when she was in High School, the "In Crowd" was run by one girl and her friends who were all bullies, and who were always saying and doing unkind things to others. So she and a few of her friends got together and formed a group called the "Out Crowd". They would get together and do silly things and be kind to others and make a point of NOT going to the Popular parties and stuff. I thought that was totally cool. So, my question is, if there was an "Out Crowd", would you join, if they invited you?
3 AnswersFriends1 decade agoOld Deed? How do I Find Out?
A few years ago, my Mom's Dad sent me a box of old letters and family genealogies. While I was looking through the box I came across a deed dated 1790, and signed by Beverly Randolf, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. It was for a 400+ acre parcel of land, near what is now Berkley Springs, West Virginia. The name of the recipient isn't in any of the genealogies, but only one of them goes back to Revolutionary War times. I asked my Grandfather, be he had no idea about it. I'm pretty sure that he hasn't paid any property tax on it, and I know my mom and I haven't. Anyway, what I wanted to know is what I should do about this? Is there any chance it belongs to us? If not, how do I find the real owner? If we do own it, will we have to pay millions of dollars in back property taxes? The boundaries are laid out with references to swamps and trees and ridges and such, so I'm not even sure how to find out it's exact location. I would love to visit it some day, even if it belongs to someone else, just to stand there and look at it. Unfortunately, I live in California, so I can't just drive over there whenever I feel like it.
9 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWest Coast Beach Campgrounds?
Does anyone know of any cheep nice campgrounds near the beach in California, Oregon, or Washington? My mom, my brother, and I are all going camping this August, and my mom said she would like to go to the ocean. I am looking for a place that is nice, but not too expensive. I will be getting on Google later, but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience they could share.
3 AnswersCamping1 decade agoWhat am I doing? Flirting?
Several people my age have told me I'm always flirting, but I don't know what I'm doing. Whenever I'm happy I act kind of silly and goofy and a little outrageous, and sometimes I tease people a little. But I grew up very sheltered, was home schooled all my high school, never had any friends not from church, and hardly ever watched tv or movies. What is flirting? And please don't say, "to behave amorously without serious intent." Webster's New Ideal Dictionary, because that doesn't help.
1 AnswerSingles & Dating1 decade agoWhat are you looking for?
Girls, what are you looking for in a friend, a boyfriend, or a future husband? Are they all the same? I love these kinds of discussions, because they are so thought provoking, for me, and for whoever answers. Anyway, what characteristics do you look for in a person?
