  • When did you start smoking pot and were are you now?

I can't really trust any of the information on the internet so I'm just going to ask you everything I want to know.

    What age did you start?

How frequently did you smoke then?

How much do you smoke now?

Do you live with your parents or do you have a place of your own?

    Do you have a job?

If so how long have you worked there?

I believe marijuana should be legal

I'm a teen so I have to explore the possibility of negative effects in such an early age.

This autom we read a strange story about the struggles of a young teacher in a village in West-Africa. Michael Obi was educated from abroad and the villagers considered themselves lucky to have such a well educated teacher to work at their school. He could hardly wait to change the Ndume school to one of the best schools in Africa. His wife shared this dream with him and hoped she would also profit greatly if his work went well. She gave her husband a few tips but he ignored it. Instead Obi only focused on planning the school after his own imagination which were very modern.

Not everyone in the village were ready for a big change and therefore this had to end in a disaster. The turning point was when Obi decided to close the village‘s footpath though the school compound. Even the village priest tried to convince Obi the importance of keeping the path open, without success.

If Obi had shown more understanding on the villagers‘ traditions and beliefs the dispute would never have gone so far. The story therefore shows us how important it is to be tolerant.

What do you want to do when you grow up?

Children and teenagers have often been asked this question when adults whant to have a conversation with them.

The answers of course depend on the enviroment, situations and age of the one that's asked.

The youngest kids sometimes answer that what the most want is to be a doctor, pilot or a singer, but the older once have started planning their education to prepare for their future job.

Most people have some kind of a hobby.

It's fun to take part in all kinds of social job and their young people often make good friends.

This kind of frinedsship can even last a lifetime.

Some take parts in sports, play for example football and compete in swimming, and many make very good progress in these fields.

Others learn to play musicalinstruments and form a band, so called carage bands, that can evolve and get popular both inside and outside the country.

Greek myths have had enormous effects on western colture, andboth English and Icelandic authers have been under the influence of them for hundred of years.

Both Snorri Sturluson and William Shakespeare knew Greek myths well, like you can see from a short storie that was read this winter, Agatha Christie knew them as well.

The fun thing about the Greek gods is how human they are.

They show emotions like lust and jelousy and they do stuff they shouldn‘t do.

For instance Hera had no control over Zeus, which had many children with mortal women, and she often had revenge on those children.

Do you remember how bad she was to Herakles.

If the Greek wouldn‘t be so incomplete, the stories of them wouldn‘t be nearly as amusing. Maybe then there wouldn‘t have been a war in Troy, and Ódysseifur wouldn‘t have any trouble getting home, if he wouldn‘t have gone from home.

It would be a great lost for our culture.

That‘s why you should remember those delightful stories.

The writer wouldn‘t have invited the woman out for lunch if she hadn‘t written him a letter and said she had read one of his books.

She said that she wanted to discuss the book with him.

Since he was young and naive and few had read his books he did as the woman asked, and now he was sitting with a woman in one of the finest most expensive restaurants in Paris.

He got terrified when he saw the prices on the menu, but he calmed down after the woman said she never ate more then one dish for lunch.

The only porblem was that she picked the most expensive dish on the menu and she didn‘t count the peaches, asparagus and other things like that.

Finally the bill was alot higher then the poor man had expected, and when he was done paying for lunch, he didn‘t have anything left to live on for the rest of the month.

Still, there is no doubt he lived through the rest of the month, because he would go on to write many books, and later in his life he got revenge when he saw the woman again, but then she had gotten obese.

One of the most entertaining ways to learn foreign languages is to read a good story.

Most people probably agree with this, but ofcourse people can have different opinions about the stories that are picked for the students.

Some people ind the story about Melpomenus Jones laughable but others might find it boring.

Poor Melpomenus, that lovable young man, did not want to seem rude at all and he couldn't lie.

The results of it were terible for him.

One day he went for a visit to people he knew and planned on staying for one or two hourse.

You know what happened after that.

The main character died because he was too polite.

He apperantly thought people always ment what they say.

This story reminds us of a problem in every day life.

Is it always right to tell the truth and the whole truth, or are so called "white lies" sometimes prefered?

On every New Year's Eve many people say to them selves, if not others:

"Now I'm gonna quit smoking, from now on I'm gonna eat less and go early to bed and then I'm gonna carefully pick what I watch on TV."

One of my New Year's decissions were to go somewhere every weekend to build up my body.

I got a lent book from my neigbour.

The books author is a famous sciantis, one of the once that have tought geology at the university for many years.

He is convinced that nothing is healthier and more fun then traveling around a unbuilt area.

A month ago I decided to go for a long walk alone.

Unfortunatly I broke my right leg and since then I have been in bed at the hospital.

This has been a bad experience, but now I'm getting better thanks to god and good doctors.

On the comming Tuesday I'm going home in full health and ready for new adventures.

This semester we have read a few articles in English, but also a few short stories and a novel.

The teacher tries to choose material suitable to everyone's interest but it isn't easy, because the students taste is so different from one another.

It's however important for students to read good literature.

That's how they increase both their knowledge and personal growth.

    That's what experiments have shown.

For those who are learning foreign languages it is vital to read much and then preferably after talented authors.

Students ofcourse discover new words and that's how the increase their vocabulary, but it's isn't less important that they understand the story that is being told and learn from it.

Most stories are about human topics and the reader gets to know the enviorment and the point of view that is different from his own.

He then needs to form an opinion on a topic he otherwise would have never thought about.

One thing is certain that we would be more tolerant if we could put our selves in other peoples shoes.

Now the tests are almost over and the Christmas holidays are ahead.

We can new go and turn our selves to Christmas preparation, and let us look forward to reading the books that we can hopefully find in our Christmas presents.

    Merry Christmas!
