  • Is it okay to "dry" nurse my baby?

My son is about six months old. I weaned him off of breast milk about a month ago. My milk has completely dried up.

Occasionally he gets really fussy and the only way to soothe him is to let him nurse for a few minutes until he falls asleep. We always offer him a pacifier or a bottle first, but if he doesn't want either of those, letting him "dry" nurse seems to do the trick.

Has anyone else ever done this? Is there any reason not to? I'm not worried about my milk coming back in because I only do this once every few days.

  • Poll: Yes or No - Will P&S be different after school starts next month?

Please answer with a simple Yes or No. I was thinking there will be fewer people to post questions and respond to questions during the day once school starts next month.

  • Question about touching my nose piercing?

I got several good responses about the keloid that has grown next to my nose piercing. The one thing everyone agreed on was that I should not touch it. Well... I have a bad habit of touching it. Plus, it always feels like there's a booger in my nose so I sort of feel around the inside of my nose and bump the piercing (sorry if that was gross, but its true). My questions are:

    1) If I can't stop doing this, should I remove the piercing?

    2) If I remove the piercing, will the keloid go away?

  • What works best to remove a keloid next to my nose piercing?

I got my nose pierced back in April. About a month after I got the piercing, a keloid grew next to the piercing. The guy at the shop who did the piercing said to put a drop of Vitamin E oil on it each day, but this hasn't worked. My sister suggested I grind up some aspirin and make a paste with water and put a drop of this on it each day. Has anyone successfully gotten a keloid to shrink up using these techniques? Any other ideas? Thank you so much!

  • Tainted Gerber baby food hoax?

On our local news there was a story about some guys that posted a message on You Tube stating they had tainted jars of Gerber baby food with cyanide and rat poison. The news story said it was just a hoax. I visited the Gerber baby food website, but there wasn't any information about it. Has anyone heard about this? Are you still using Gerber? I have several jars at home and I'm not sure if I should use them or not.

  • Is it true there's going to be a new Beverly Hills 90210 series?

I've heard rumors that there's going to be a new Beverly Hills 90210 series on TV in the near future. I've tried to get information about it, but I can't find anything on line. Does anyone know about this? I'm curious about what cast members would be coming back.

  • Reporting procedures on Yahoo Answers?

I was wondering, when someone gets reported on Yahoo Answers, does a live person review the reported question/answer and determine whether it should be removed, or is it automatically done by the computer?

  • Weird or not?

I share food with my pet rats. For example, if I'm eating an ice cream cone, I'll let them take a few licks. Or if I'm eating pasta I'll throw a few pieces in their cage. Please don't be mean, I just want to know... weird, or not?

  • What did people use for diapers 200 years ago?

Does anyone know what people used for diapers in the old days? I mean before rubber was invented? I know my grandparents used cloth diapers with rubber over-pants for babies in the 1940's, but what about in the 1800's and before? Does anyone know how that worked? It seems that pee would be leaking everywhere without a rubber or plastic barrier? I am just curious.

  • HELP! My baby is refusing to nurse.?

My son is 8 weeks old. I've breastfed him since he was born. About two weeks ago we both went through a bout of thrush, but it has cleared up and that shouldn't be the problem. For about 2 and a half weeks now he's preferred the bottle over the breast and its gotten to the point that he refuses to nurse at all. When I try to nurse him, he latches on, takes a few sucks and then starts to cry. I'm still making plenty of milk, so please don't suggest I give him formula. For the past week I've had to pump and feed him breast milk in the bottle. I can't nurse exclusively because I've returned to work part time and he has to take the bottle when he's with his grandmother. Please give me tips if you've gone through this yourself.

  • HELP! My baby pulls away while nursing and yanks on my nipple!?

My baby is 7 weeks old. Sometimes he fusses while I'm nursing him, he gets frustrated and pulls away from the breast while he's still attached. This results in painful "yanking" on my nipple. Has anyone experienced this? Any tips on how to stop this? I'm getting frustrated (and I'm in pain). I won't keep breastfeeding if this continues. HELP!

  • Has anyone used the product "Labor Boost"?

A midwife friend of mine suggested I try the product Labor Boost now that I'm 38 weeks pregnant. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this product? Its a topical cream you apply to the abdomen (it contains several labor augmenting/inducing herbs).
