  • Need help with a psychology prompt?

Our teacher gives us a case study and we have to write a paper about what kind of disorder/condition the individual could have and give potential causes. Here s the case study

"Ben is seventeen years old, is a slightly above average student, has many good friend, and isn t neglected at home. His father came in and out of his life as a child but now he has nothing to do with Ben. Other than that, nothing major happened in Ben s childhood that he can remember.

Currently, Ben feels anxious all the time. Most of the time he attributes his nervousness to things such as college applications or upcoming tests. His mood also changes very rapidly, going from being euphoric to sad very rapidly. Ben has thought about committing suicide but doesn t actually think that he would ever do it. Sometimes he wishes he would be hit by a car or get cancer. Ben doesn t think that he is depressed because there are times when he doesn t feel sad, such as when he is with his friends, but there are times, mostly when he is at home with his mother, that he hates his life and spends a lot of time sleeping, eating, or laying in bed listening to music."

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Are there majors in medical school?

Obviously there's different majors for undergrad studies that differ depending on what you want to do with your life. But are there different "majors" in med school for different types of doctors. If so, what type of "major" would I need to be a surgeon?

  • Just need an opinion...?

Every time my friend and I make plans to hang out, he invites his girlfriend along. She's a nice girl but it's just awkward for me cause it's me, him, and her. In his defense, he does tell me he's bringing her and that I should bring a girl too, but he usually tells me the day of or the day before and he knows that I don't have a girlfriend or even a girl that I'd ask to go out with. So my question is, is this a dick move on his part or am I just being stupid since I find it awkward?

  • Which cousin would I be more genetically similar to?

I have three cousins that are paternal and maternal. This is because my father s sister is married to my mother s brother. Would I be more genetically similar to the children of that marriage as opposed to my cousins that are only paternal or maternal?

  • If I were to move out of my parents' house when I'm 18 and going to college, would I still be able to be a dependant on their insurance?

I honestly don't know much about insurance. If I was to move out when I go to college, would I have to get my own insurance or would I be able to stay on their's. I know that there's different types of insurance, so do the regulations apply for all types or is each type different?

  • I need a person's opinion on this.?

Me and 3 of my best friends are seniors and are all going to college in the same general area next year. We're thinking about getting a 2 bedroom apartment and living together. We all get along pretty well so I'm not worried about that, but what I am wondering is if it would be better for me to live in a dorm. I've been told that it's easier to meet new people in the dorms. But, on the opposite end, dorms are really expensive plus I will need a food plan. I would really rather live with my friends but I don't want to accidentally make a stupid decision just cause I want to be with my friends more. Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

  • What's wrong with my DVD players?

I bought a DVD/VCR player and within a year it stopped working. When I play DVDs, it skips very badly even though the discs are perfect. I bought another one and that stopped working in another year. I found out that if I used a hair dryer and blew it in the DVD player it would sometimes work but eventually the DVDs would stop playing completely. Then, I had to buy a new one and now this one will not work either. I put in a movie tonight and it didn't play. I tried to eject the DVD but it didn't even stop playing and now it's continuing to run, even though I've turned off the entire system. I have no idea what could cause the same problem in three different players, I've gotten a new television within that time so I know it's not the TV. I do watch a lot of movies, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Any suggestions as to what the problem is and how I can fix it?

  • Can I just have some help with career choices?

I have absolutely no idea what I would like to do when I get older (I'm a junior in high school) and I was just wondering if someone who didn't know me could give me a suggestion of what kind of job would be good for me if I described myself.

In school, the subjects that I'm best in are science and English, although I dislike chemistry and I'm pretty good at math but I don't like it. I sort of have an interest in history but only certain topics. Some other interests of mine include genealogy, reading/writing, and animals. Some careers that I thought possibly about in the past were a medical examiner (but that requires 8-10 years), lawyer, some kind of a college professor, or a veterinarian (but that also takes 8 years). My mom thinks an engineer would be good for me but I don't really know any kind of engineers. When I took the online quizzes for school, each time I took the quiz, counselor, therapist, and other stuff kind of like that (teacher, professor) were in the top ten.

Ideally, I wouldn't like to go to school for a super long time, maybe 5-6 years is okay but 8+ then no. I would like a good salary, not like super wealthy but wealthy enough to be able to live comfortably with necessities and luxuries.

I know this is vague but I just literally have no idea what I want to do and any ideas are appreciated!

  • How can I find out more about my ancestors?

I would like to read up more on my ancestors. I have things like names and dates but I would like to know more about them and their lives. I don't want to have to buy something like on Ancestry.

One thing I really would like to know is if they were Puritans. I noticed that some of them had virtue names like Experience, Resolved and Comfort and I knew that those were mostly Puritans that gave their children those names.

  • How would I be able to change my name?

I really want to change my last name. It's hyphenated with my mother and father's last name. If I wanted to get my surname changed, would I have to get approval from both parents or just one?

  • Help with a speech?!?!?

I'm doing a speech either tomorrow or the day after (Sept. 18 or 19). It has to be three minutes and about something that I love doing. Writing the actual speech was easy. I'm talking about camping, where I go camping, what we do when we go camping, etc. But I have NO IDEA how to start or end it. On the paper our teacher passed out it says "Topic sentence that introduces your focus (I have chosen... I really enjoy...One of my favorite things...are all easy ways to start, but you can begin however you with; be creative! Avoid "my topic is" because that's boring". And for the conclusion it says "A clear concluding statement (Don't just stop and say "That's it". You can thank them, tell them to try what you love, help get them started, convince them to agree with you...there are also other options but "That's it" is not one of them". Please help!!! Any ideas are appreciated.

  • What should I do about my neighbor who is faking a disability?

So several years ago my neighbor had a real back injury and was unable to work for a year or so, so she was put on disability. Her injury healed but she kept pretending that she was constantly in pain and unable to work. Now I know that she is faking it because I've seen her carrying extremely heavy things that I would be unable to lift myself and she's over fifty years older than me. I've also seen her bending over to get things on the ground, which, when people are around, she pretends causes her a lot of pain. Along with this, she is constantly cleaning her house and yard. She gets on her hands and knees and scrubs her floors at least once a month and is constantly raking her yard in the fall and shoveling her driveway in the winter. She will shovel several times a day.

Now I don't know much about the laws of disability but I thought that there was a law where a person on disability isn't allowed to work. If this is true, then she's breaking another law because she babysits for people for money.

So who can I turn her in to for faking her disability?

  • What can I do about my neighbors barking dog?

My neighbor's dog barks all day whenever she leaves home. She leaves her blinds open and front door open with the screen door locked so the dog see's everything and barks at everything and nothing for hours and hours on end. Just an hour ago I went over when she got home after being gone for an hour and hearing her dog bark for an hour and I asked her if she would close her blinds and door so maybe the dog wouldn't bark as much. She replied, "I don't give a sh*t. I can't hear it so I'm not going to worry about it." I went home and tried googling what to do but everything said to try and work it out calmly which I just tried to do and it obviously didn't work. Can I call the police or maybe call her landlord? And should I get some other neighbors to sign a petition or something like that?
