  • We are traveling to NYC next May and want to know the best place to stay where we can park our car?

and not pay a fortune. We are going to use public transportation most of the time (we will be there prob 5-6 days) but do want the option of driving somewhere if we need to. My in laws are going with us and are from NY so they mentioned Jersey is prob the best place, but where at in Jersey would be the cheapest? Also we are looking into the homes to rent out instead of hotels as they can be pricier than privately owned homes to rent (homeawayfromhome.com, vrbo.com, etc...) Any suggestions would be great.

  • My husband, my 4 year old and I will be going to NYC next May for nearly a week with my inlaws?

I love them very much, we live close to them and we see them a lot because they stop by to see my son on the way home. My dad lives 10 minutes from us. He always has financial problems and cant afford to travel, he is a carpenter and his work is not consistent like ours is. When we travel with my inlaws we split the cost of everything because it is fair. My dad never goes on trips with us, because he cant afford it so I always feel bad that he cant do anything with us. I had mentioned to my mother in law that if my dad can save up between now and May if he can come to NYC with us and she wasnt crazy about the idea. She didnt say anything particular of why she didnt she just mentioned that being away that long with someone in closed quarters can be uncomfortable. I feel bad and I know Im going to have to tell him that we are going because how can you be gone for nearly a week and not tell your father you went to NYC, really? Should I try to convince her more to want him to go or should I leave it alone?

  • does your preschooler have a door fetish?

Ever since my son was a year old he has been obsessed with opening and closing doors. Now he is 3 years old and he still hasnt grown out of. In public its frustrating because he will want to open the automatic doors and close them and people keep coming in and out so we have to wait til they stop coming, lol. He isnt autistic, very social and makes very good eye contact, its just that one obsession. Can anyone tell me how to break him of that or will he just grow out of it?

  • I love my gma very much and respect her opinions but sometimes she tries to tell me how to take care of my son?

If he is sick, she tells me I need to take him to the doc, when I know I should at least try to make him better before I just get in the car and go (he is 3). The urgent care costs more and Im not taking him to the doc for every little thing. Also she gives him soda after I asked her not to or at least water it down a lot. Im not crazy about giving him soda, even with diluted. How do I politely ask her to back off?

  • We are adopting a kitten and want it to be outdoors, any one ever done this?

We have had 2 indoor cats before and each one has pissed and pooped on our bed, floor and other places so thats why we are not going to do that again. We are probably going to keep the kitten inside a crate in the laundry room at night (its an open room) so no predators will try to get it. I'll prob get a bell collar for it with our info on it too just in case it roams in some one's yard. My in laws live a few houses down and they have an outdoor cat that showed up one day, and they fed it and got it spayed and shes been around ever since. Do I need to get a spayed female? They are fixed, have their shots, have a chip and everything.

  • custodial mother has been alienating child against non custodial father since 10 years old?

And at 11 she says she didnt want to go see father after that but he has an visitation agreement. He tried and tried to see her every time it was his weekend and the mother claimed she didnt want to but we know she did because she acted differently around us (im her big sister) and the mother used to be my step mother so i know how manipulative she is. She is 16 now and father finally wants to hold her in contempt for all the times he missed and has to prove she wouldnt allow visitation. Are specific dates the only thing he needs as evidence? And what can they do to the mother for this? we are in NC

  • I need help on bringing my 2 year old to a wedding?

The wedding is starting at 1 and the reception is following in a different location. His normal nap time is 12:30. Has anyone ran into a problem like this and had to do something about it? We are going to be riding with my inlaws to this wedding so theres no option for 2 cars. Im wondering if he can just skip his nap for that day if he isnt running around that morning and getting tired but I will be bringing the stroller so at least he will be kept from running around at the wedding and have the option to walk around and go outside if he starts disturbing others. I dont mind since Im not related to these people and dont really know them.

  • Is it possible for the judge to turn custody over to my dad?

We go to court next Thursday because my dad couldnt pay child support due to no work and all (he is not a dead beat dad, he was great with me and raised me by himself), he has been getting small jobs in and there and having yard sales, selling stuff to try to make money (hes a construction worker) to try to catch up on what he owes in child support, he can barely make it on his own and his exwife didnt abide by the visitation rights so hes taking her to court for that, we are doing this all in one day. My sister is now 16 and her mom is going to tell the judge that she didnt want to go, I know thats not a good enough excuse and she will prob get in trouble for this. The last few years his exwife has proven that she is not a responsible parent (letting my sister hang out with the wrong people, being promiscous, had a pregnancy scare, etc...) Is it possible that if the judge finds out all this info she could turn custody over to my dad, if she stays in her house much longer she will have no chance. She even stopped making her go to school and decided to completely skip high school and get her GEDat a nearby technical college! How is she going to make it there when she cant even be in class when shes supposed to? My dad went and talked to the principal and found out a lot of dirt, such as her being arrested for shoplifting, etc...(no charges were made)

  • what happens if a parent alienates the child from the other parent by making sexual accusations?

just to get the child not to want to go for visitations. my dads exwife neglected her visitation weekends with my dad so he hasnt been able to see his daughter every other weekend since 2007. she is now 16 and she claims she didnt want to go and never gave a reason. she then said the other day that something sexual may have happened but i know my dad would never do that, its just his exwifes way of trying to make the child not to go to him. he has filed contempt in which we go on april 10 to try to get back those years he missed out with his daughter. im wondering what the court will do about the visitation neglect and also if she tries to say he molested her but has no proof or has made attempts to investigate.

  • my dad has had temporary custody of my sister who is now 16 and ever since she was 11 his exwife broke?

visitation rights of him having her every other weekend and every other holiday because she claimed she told her she didnt want to go to his house. she never said why even when i questioned her but her mother is really manipulative and has alienated her from him. my thing is she broke the order and if she didnt want to go she should have went to court and tried to change it and have my sister say why. he filed an order of contempt and they are due in court in a couple weeks. i went with him yesterday for him to hand deliver the papers so i could be there in case any trouble started. what do you think the judge will do. my dad has went through a lot and he wants her to help the restoration of their relationship as a result of this.
