  • Should I cancel my son's 8th Birthday Party?

Okay, so here is the issue. My son's actual birthday was last week and as a family we had cake and presents, but since his birthday fell on mother's day weekend, I decided to have his class/friends birthday party (at Chuck E Cheese) the following weekend (this coming Saturday, two days from now).

Here is the problem...I sent invites to all 17 kids in his class two weeks ago. 1 kid said that they could attend. I then sent a "reminder" to his classmates on wednesday of the party week and still no one else has responded.

I don't know if I should tell the 1 child that rsvp'd that the party is canceled or if I should go ahead with the party and hope that at least two other kids come. There are also 2 neighbor kids that said they will come if we have the party, but it would not be a big deal to cancel on them as they are good family friends and will understand.

Do you think it would be rude to cancel? What about if other kids come that didn't RSVP and we are not there? Is that there fault for not letting me know that they were coming?

    Any input would help.

  • Military Wives?

I got this from myspace and thought it was funny and wanted to keep it going...

Being a Soldiers Wife isnt always easy, but ask one of us if we'd give it up & you will hear a resounding "HELL NO!"

(Feel Free to add on ladies!)

A Few Thing You Should Know About REAL MILITARY WIVES!!!

    1. We know the difference between BDU's & ACU's and what both acronyms stand for (army wife).

    2. When our men come home late from work, we dont complain. we are just happy to sleep next to them tonight.

    3. We would NEVER dream of calling our husbands work/boss and complaining

    4. We know that endless hours and shitty pay is just the way things are in the military and we deal with it

    5. No matter who you are, come a few days before the first and the fifteenth you are broke as HELL!

    6. Unlike what the public would like to think we are well aware that our husbands paychecks do NOT go up in value when we have a child.

    C'mon ladies add on...

  • First time buyers looking for information on VA loans...?

My husband and I are wanting to buy our first home, but we have no idea what we need to do. My husband is in the Army and is eligible for a VA loan. Our credit is not in the best condition (approx 520 for both of us), but we are working on improving it. We have about 2500.00 in bills that we are paying off. We also currently have 2 vehicle loans; 1 should be paid off by Oct and the other has about 8,000 left on it. We have a few credit cards, but they have under a 500.00 limit and are paid off.

We would like to start looking, but if we are not going to qualify, then we would rather wait until we would qualify. We have heard that a VA loan is guaranteed, but we are not sure. Also, we have heard that you don't need anything down with a VA loan, but again we don't know if that is true. We are completely in the dark when it comes to this stuff, any advice would be great! We live in GA, if that helps any.

Oh, we have also heard that there are a ton of first time buyers programs...?

  • Question on: Stripping the Membranes aka Sweeping the Membranes?

I am 38 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. I'm dilated to 3 cm and I am going to get my membranes stripped in 2 days. I have been having contractions on and off for the past few weeks, they will get to be about 5 mins apart, but never get stronger. They have helped me dilate, but will not stay regular.

My question is...Has anyone had this procedure done AFTER you started to dilate and how long did it take to start having regular contractions/go into labor? (I know that there is a chance it may do nothing). Thanks so much!!!

  • Labor and Delivery at a Military/Army Hospital - Any Advice?

This is my first pregnancy (or any medical treatment) with Army doctors and Army Hospitals. I am 38 weeks preg and don't know what to expect with military delivery. I have had one prev pregnancy, but I saw a civilian doctor and hosp. This time around I'm dealing with the Army doctors. I have not had much luck with the doc appts thus far, so I'm worried about the delivery. So far I have seen a different person for every prenatal visit and get different answers each time I go. When the time comes to deliver, I will get whatever doctor is on call (even though I may never have met him/her). I'm looking for other people’s military pregnancy/delivery experiences/advice, particularly for the hosp on Ft. Stewart in GA, if possible.

  • False Labor vs. Real Labor - Any advice? I'm 38 weeks prego...?

I have been having "false labor" contractions for the past few weeks; they usually are about 5-7 minutes apart, they can last from 2-7 hours and I get them a few times a week. They are strong/painful, but never increase in strength and eventually stop. Also, I am dilated 1-2 cm. I am seeing army doctors, but they seem to be NO help!!! Anytime I call they just tell me to drink water and lay on my side (never to come in and get checked out). Does anyone know of a way to turn false labor contractions into REAL labor contractions? If I am having these contractions and go into the hosp will they give me something to help them along (induce), try and stop them or just send me home? I don't understand how "False Labor" contractions can start to dilate me? I'm tired of being in pain with no end result and I'm worried that something else may be going on in my body, but the army docs don't seem to care.
