  • Extra gum from closing front diastema?

I have braces and had a diastema in my two front teeth, which is closing. Now, though, the gum that was between these teeth have been pushed downward due to their closing both in front and behind, and may also be swollen. Will I have to get this surgically removed or what?

  • Derivative of logx base 10?

I know it's 1/xln10, but I keep getting it wrong.

    my logic:

    10^(logx)=x

    take derivative of both sides

    d/dx(10^logx)=d/dx(x)

    (d/dx(b^x)=xlnb)

    logx(ln(10))*d/dx(logx)=1

    d/dx(logx)=1/logx(ln10)

    what'd I do wrong?

  • Breaking in faux leather boots?

I have 'Rugged Outback Steel Toe Work Boots' that I got from Payless, they're skid&oil resistant. I was wondering if I could break these in the same way I've heard people break them in; by soaking them in hot water while wearing them for about 20 minutes, and keeping them on till they're dry. My main concern is the faux leather, and if it'll conform to my feet the way I hear leather does when this method is applied.

Does anybody have knowledge/experience with this?

  • Under 18 and graduated, do I still need a work permit?

I'm 17 & took the California High School Proficiency Exam (diploma equivalent) and am now out of school. I want to get into the working world, but am unsure if I have to obtain and fill out a work permit. Anyone know if I must?

  • Hearing own actual voice through PA?

I've known that the voice we hear when we speak is not actually what's heard to others, and that the recorded voice matches it more. But, when talking through a microphone to a pa and hearing yourself through loudspeakers, is this your true voice also?

  • I want to drop out of high school.?

I'm taking the CHSPE next month, which gives me a diploma equivalent. I don't get my test results until November 20th, though. I've decided to finish high school early (I'm in my senior year) to pursue my musical career. Once I get my equivalency, however, I'm immediately going to be joining the work force. In fact, I'm in the process of job hunting now. Eventually, I'll be attending community college while furthering my music studies privately. Seeing as how the requirement of being 16 years of age is met, and I'm registered to take the test (which there is no doubt I'll pass), I see it a complete waste of time to continue being in high school for the next approx. two months. Time, I might add, which could be better allocated in getting my driver's license and finding a job; not to mention practicing music. I have already talked to my counselor, several times, about the plans I have for my future and she said that I couldn't simply 'not go' to school since my parents would be fined.

    (tl;dr)

So, in essence, I want to know if I can simply formally drop out of high school without the approval of my parents.

    Thanks in advance.

    also:

I've told my parents about my plans already. Also, I live in California, hence the 'C' in CHSPE. &I'm sure completely 100% sure about the direction I want to take my life. Also, I plan on becoming a band oriented musician (drumming and singing in a rock band, if you're interested). So, I won't be taking music theory or anything. I probably will be taking formal classes for music later on, though. And yeah, I'm in a garage band.

Oh, and I've never given a (expletive) about school functions at all. School spirit is all too dumb, in my opinion.

  • What Halloween songs should my band play?

My band is playing at a homecoming dance for a local high school on Halloween this year. The theme is obviously horror, so what songs should we cover in addition to a couple originals of our own? We're an alternative/punk band. We've already decided on doing our rendition of 'This is Halloween'. Any other ideas? Another possibility we've talked about is 'Dead!' by My Chemical Romance. We need a variety of selections at different tempos.

    Thanks.
